"At the time of the incident, Mr. Rose was en-route to Taipei, Taiwan, to kick-off Guns N' Roses’ tour of Southeast Asia including shows in Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
"Mr. Rose, who was about to enter a security checkpoint at LAX when the altercation took place, was approached by a group of unchecked and unruly photographers who became aggressive with the singer and female members of the traveling group.

California metal band WINDS OF PLAGUE continue their extensive worldwide touring schedule in support of the highly acclaimed "The Great Stone War" in 2010 with another headliner dubbed the "Never Say Die! Tour." This massive, month-long trek, which kicks off on Jan. 23rd, also features labelmates Despised Icon alongside For Today, Stray From The Path and The World We Knew.
Johnny (vocals) further states: “We have just passed the halfway mark on ‘The California Love’ tour and already the tour has proven to be a massive success, as well as a very memorable moment in WINDS OF PLAGUE history. This has been our first sole headliner, which is nerve racking in itself, but the WOP Soldiers have been strong in numbers and have been some of the most insane shows we have played to date. It’s been awesome to get back into some smaller clubs that we have played while we were coming up and re-visit our roots. This tour also marks the debut of keyboardist Alana Potocnik to the band. Alana's positive attitude and hungry work ethic is a breath of fresh air, with her talent and creative writing abilities new material will be nothing short of epic. With our return to Southern California for the December Decimation Fest still on the horizon, ‘The California Love’ tour will go down in our history as some of the best times of our lives and we thank our fans for making it all possible. Walls Come Down
Man In the Moon
Still I’m Burning
All You Wanted
Non Stop Rock And Roll

The new video from the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, “Bend It Like Bender,” has been posted online and can be viewed below. The song comes off the group’s new album, “Addicted”, which was met with worldwide critical praise and debuted at #2 on the Billboard Heatseakers chart.
Townsend further states: "The video for 'Bend It Like Bender' was directed by none other than the mighty Konrad Palkewicz, who directed 'Almost Again' by STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, and 'Coast' off of Ki. It's an all animated affair that is not nearly as 'puffy' as the song, it's a mini movie with his incredible skills once again making my music seem much more poignant than it really is. I've seen some clips and it’s crazy good."
Townsend will join genre visionaries Between The Buried and Me, Cynic and Scale The Summit for a massive North American trek which kicks off January 8th. Dates for Europe and Australia are in the works, but you can already look forward to:
13th-15th August 2010 (UK) Catton Hall, Walton-On-Trent, Derbyshire – Bloodstock Open Air

Bassist Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse has issued the following road report:
"Today we're in Maplewood, Minn., which is basically a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul. We just finished a four-show run through central Canada as part of the Decimation of the Nation 2 tour, consisting of Calgary, Edmonton, Sakatoon and Winnipeg. The shows were fantastic, as we've come to expect from that part of the world—there are some truly raging audiences up there.
"We've been to central Canada before, but never in the winter ... it's definitely full-on cold up there this time of year! We checked the temperature in Sakatoon, and it was -24 degrees Fahrenheit (-31 degrees centigrade). Today in Minnesota it's around 10 degrees, and it actually feels warm compared to where we just were!
"Now that we're back in the States, we'll be playing throughout the Midwest before heading back into Canada for a third time to play Toronto and Montreal. It will be our first show in Toronto for this tour cycle, so we're really looking forward to that, and Montreal is always incredible. After that we'll be heading down the East Coast for a few more shows before the tour comes to an end. It has been a killer tour so far, and we're sure the last few dates (Worcester, New York, Philly) will really end things on a high note. This will probably be my last update on the road for this year, but I might check back to do a year-end review. Thanks for reading, and hope you all have a great holiday season."

Texas metallers Chemical Fingerprint have issued the following update about writing and recording new material:
"We tried out a bass player stitch has been friends with for a lil while and hopefully all will work out and we will definitely know by next month. Once the band is full our sound will be complete and nothing will be missing. We have wrote 2 new songs in the past few weeks and the whole band agrees that the sound is getting better with each tune. Hopefully any fans or future fans will agree and dig our sound. We will be recording a live demo really soon at Mad Puppet recordings. Once we have a full albums worth of songs we will record and we can't wait til that time comes.
"We will also have cover songs on our live demo so please keep your eyes peeled for that. hopefully if all works out we will have a demo and album out by early next year and if we are a full band things will flow better for us and it is too bad that there isn't many places in the Dallas / Fort Worth area for metal shows. Most local metal bands are playing sports bars so we will probably be there or out of town but we miss playing shows so we are looking forward to it!"
Ex Deo, the ancient Roman themed arsenal lead by Kataklysm front man Maurizio Iacono, recently returned home after making their North American debut alongside Enisferum and Blackguard. Performance footage from the their show at The Medley in Montreal on December 3rd can be viewed below.
Plans are also in the works for the band to film a video clip for the track "The Final War (Battle Actium)," which is taken from Ex Deo's debut album "Romulus." The video will be shot once again by director Ivan Colic and producer Stanimir Lucik in Belgrade, Serbia. The filming will take place in early January 2010 and will be released in the month of Mars (March) to celebrate Mars, the ancient Roman god of war.
Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: “After much discussion with the director Ivan Collic we decided to go with ‘The Final War (Battle Actium)’ as the next video clip for Romulus. I love the song ‘In Her Dark Embrace’, which was initially the planned video track, but we’ve decided to bring the whole production one step higher and film ‘The Final War (Battle Actium)’. The story line is amazing for this song and we will be able to capture not only Roman battle scenes and all the blood you want, but also the true story behind the war that turned Rome from a republic into an Empire. We’re going full force with this one!” More...

Metalunderground.com columnist David S. Grant (aka Rockstar_Scribbler) has released his latest book, "Rock Stars: The rise, fall, and rise of 80s glam frontmen into pop culture." "Rock Stars" is a look back and forward with the glam metal singers from the eighties. Accompanied by illustrations of each singer (courtesy of by Joel Gwidt), "Rock Stars" takes a tongue-in-cheek look at both the careers and music created during this time.
Here are some excerpts from the book:
"...Wearing tight acid washed jeans, Jon Bon Jovi made no qualms about putting "pop" back into rock. Videos focused on his ass made it appear there was an unspoken jeans rivalry between Jon and Joe Elliot of Def Lepard..."
"...I have to rethink everything regarding Rob Halford since he came out of the closet, turning from ferocious front man of Judas Priest to fierce. In hindsight there were signs. The video for "Hot Rockin" was pretty much just a bunch of guys working out in a gym. Hello!!..."
"...Sebastian Bach and Skid Row made music for the kids smoking cigarettes behind the school. Music for the kids that owned denim jackets, but didn't have the money for fancy patches (instead, forced to scribble SKID ROW across the back with a black Sharpie). Essentially, Sebastian Bach made music for the bad kid in The Breakfast Club..."
The book features twenty-eight mini-profiles detailing strengths, weaknesses, and X factors ranging from Kip Winger's hair, David Lee Roth's use of the microphone, to Bret Michaels reality series comeback. Think Behind The Music on cocaine.

"To The Death" was released on May 5 via Century Media Records (April 20 in Europe). The self-produced CD was recorded at Castle Recording Studios in Utica, New York and was mixed by Tue Madsen (HEAVEN SHALL BURN, DARK TRANQUILLITY, MOONSPELL, THE HAUNTED). Artwork for the effort was handled by Paul Romano (MASTODON, GODFLESH). The band has also partnered with PETA and plans to stay active within the animal liberation scene.
Guitarist Scott Crouse told Revolver magazine about the new CD, "We aren't purposely trying to recapture the past, but I think we have harnessed some of the fire that set us apart from the pack early on. It's great being able to look back on our previous work and see what aspects have stood the tests of time; not many bands have that luxury."
At LAX, Axl Rose (GUNS N ROSES) got into a scuffle with a paparazzo that ended up with a few bloodied participants. Even with Rose flying to Taiwan there is still concern about whether he will be in the mood to perform, a question that had been raised earlier in the week when the rest of the band flew to the gig without the singer. It’s time to set the GNR Tour odds: 2:1 one gig is played; 3:1 the Asian tour is completed without incident and/or cancellations; 5:1 GNR makes it to their Canadian leg of the tour; 1:1 Axl self destructs at some point during the tour. Technically, for those that had self destruction, you can now collect your winnings… More...
