Good deal. WAYYYY better than last years piece of crap lineup. Tour information for the upcomming year has been REALLY dissapointing aside from this..
Social D/Motorhead tour canceled.
Gigantour with f***ing CRAP bands.
I'm glad this tour is already worth seeing...and hopefully Ozzfest follows suit.

Shredder- I hear ya on the valley comment man. Last time Slayer came to town, they played at Irvine Meadows. Or as you youngens might know it, Verizon Wireless International Telecommunications-North American Division- Amphitheatre (honestly, how rock and roll is that?), which is by far the worst place to see large shows in SoCal. Hopefull they have it at the most metal venue in SoCal- the awesome Glen Helen pavilion. Tha is where the mayhem goes down, so if this tour wants to live up to it's name they better have it there again.
If it's indoors, I can guarantee it will be at the Great Western Forum.

Holy f***in crap.
Finally some good news for a good tour. scratch that. an awesome tour. scratch that. f***in stellar tour. All they need is dimmu borgir and Lamb of God and I will go to this tour with tears in eyes.
Even given my intense hatred of trivium, I've already seen them live, and they put on an excellent show imo, so I don't even mind that theyre here. I'll give those fruitcakes my money as long as Slayer and Behemoth get some of it too.

Given the new album being released in February, I'd be really surprised if Lamb Of God didn't join this tour. They're more likely to do it than Dimmu Borgir but I wouldn't rule them out either. There's bound to be a few bands on here that people will be disapointed with because they're the in thing or whatever but with Gigantour, it doesn't look like BFMV or A7X will be there to disapoint any fans. I wouldn't count out bands like Atreyu, Funeral For A Friend or Enter Shikari to hop on board though.

F.A.N.- Ditto....except for that minor Trivium compliment. I have seen them live and was not impressed at all. For me, they are a great "beer" band.
Diamond Oz- I think you are onto something with the Lamb of God prediction. "Wrath" hits stores in February, and if you add LOG to this bill they could definately fill some very large arenas. I fear you are also correct with the emo band prediction. That Kevin Lyman guy loves his emo.
FocusShift- Dude, that would be the sh**. The main problem though, is that Lyman guy loves to have multiple bands play at the same time, which sucks for people who do not have the abillity to be in two places at once. For instance, last year Machine Head and Dragonforce played at the exact same time. While that one was a no brainer (Machine f***in' Head), I would hate for Cannibal Corpse to play at the same time as Behemoth.
26. writes:
FocusShift/Diamond Oz- I agree with you guys, but since that Lyman guy is pretty clueless about metal you never really know how he is going to arrange it. Like last year, Dragonforce on the main stage following Mastodon, yet Machine Head was on a side stage following Underoath. It made little to no sense, unless he was trying to make Mastodon fans like myself exercise by running a couple hundred yards to see a real metal band instead of a Legend of Zelda metal band.

28. writes:
The lineup was a little strange and a lot of stages seemed to be all mixed up.
But its was good in another way :) Diversity rocks....
sad though cause the toronto show i was at...disturbed suck...they where off key, limp and sadly boring...i was really hoping fro some cool stuff since the indestructible album was coming out back then. And well they just sucked...all other bands where awesome :) would lof to see Children of Bodom or Lamb of God this year :) less emo stuff more godly stuff :) mastodon was pretty cool :P

32. writes:
im thinking machine heads gonna be on this because it said they dropped their touring plans for some reason.... lamb of god will be there unless they are setting up their own b**** a$$ tour. then gojira will be on one of these hopefully in support of the way of all flesh. this is looking like a promising season.testament is most likely to make an apperance on this or gigantour... ALL WE NEED IS A TENACIOUS D TOUR!
33. writes:
Tenacious D would just tour by themselves, Led Zeppelin style. they're far too good of a band to be contaminated by the mere-mortal bands on a tour like this haha.
Lamb of God
Devildriver
Gojira
Machine Head
Slayer
(system of a down reunites and joins this tour asap)
Behemoth
Dimmu Borgir
Cannibal Corpse
Napalm Death
(megadeth leaves the gigantour and joins this one)
Pig Destroyer(one can only hope lol)
Amon Amarth
^if that were the line-up to this, this would be the greatest non-wacken metal concert of all time.
so far, three out of thirteen. let's see how far this goes...
35. writes:
hell yea! not to crazy myself for manson. but trivium even could put out a decent setlist, and well Slayer and Behemoth will murder everyone. i would like to see Cannibal Corpse, Between the Buried and Me, The Black Dahlia Murder...someone else good like that added as well. and one good thing about gigantour: they already took two of the sh**tiest big bads out there so theres no need to worry about them!
36. writes:
Metal2Death- Alright man, I am also a Tenacious D fan myself. I love to see the D at a huge metal festival. I heard rumors they might headline Ozzfest second stage, but I would much rather see them at the Mayhem festival.
FAN- Damn bro, take off Devildriver and replace them with Type O Negative and you pretty much have my dream line up. Well done!
Netromancer- Adding Testament and Opeth to that list would make me cream my shorts!
37. writes:
Oh sh**. I did forget Opeth, testament, and Type O, so instead of taking out devildriver, just add those three. I know a lot of people don't care for DD that much, but I gotta tell ya, nothing beats a devildriver pit. I've moshed to napalm, Kalakai, Lamb of God and Behemoth, all bands heavier and in some cases far faster, but devildriver stil beats them as far as brutal pits go. Something to do with the tempo and mood of the music fits perfectly to get people ready to fight each other in a 10x10 hole in a crowd.
We can't add TOO many bands to the list, mind you, otherwise, the line-up will be too big to tour, and then we just end up with a stateside Wacken!

^Then take a piss and get some food during their set man haha.
A touring Wacken. . .you'd have to hope that people would come out to every single tour date because Wacken is so successful because its only a once a year festival that people are willing to come out for.
I'd settle for a touring Wacken sampler however. . .
44. writes:
I have to second Blind's comment there haha.
I'm willing to travel if the festival is worth it; This year's Powerfest in Chicago for example. Suidakra was finally playing the states, Iced Earth's first show back with Barlow, Darkane's first show since they got their new singer, and Testament all in one place . . . how could I not go?
But nothing in America has the epic standing of Wacken. Ozzfest is to Wacken as Job for a Cowboy is to real death metal.
45. writes:
The other thing you have to realize Jackrum is that here in the states we are spread out a lot more than you lads in Europe. I travel to see every show that I go to because nobody ever comes to me. Sometimes I have to go out of state to do it and my commute out of state is much further than your commute from country to country. In fact my trek to So Cal is probably equal to you passing through four countries to get to a show (about 8-10 hours drive). Not making excuses, just pointing out the logistics.

Yeah, I watch it every year, too, several times. I'm not much for Christmas movies, but that one's my all-time favorite. Your last guitarist getting his eye shot out sucks, is he okay? I mean like, he didn't lose his eye from it or anything, did he?
Now playing: Slayer - "Threshold"

TOG: It happened when he was like 9-10, so he's fine now, but yeah, lol, he lost his eye. We gave him so much sh!t about it every year about Christmas time. The jokes at rehearsal were just off the hook. "It's all fun and games until someone loses and eye... Right dude?" "STFU... A$$hole". "Dude... Why were you late today? Did you stay home to watch Christmas story and learn how to better defend your other eye?". Good times TOG. Good times.

blindgreed post 43: i thought it best not to dwell on the multitude of problems that seem to infest the nation across the atlantic.
seriously, people b**** whinge and whine about not getting the festivals we in europe have. a few years ago naplam death toured the USA with morbid angel behemoth and another pure legendary nad. i would have kille3d to see that gig any bloody date. dont care. that line up.....
and you get it every f'in year, sooooo many excellent tours you have no F*****G reason to b****. i have to fly across 2 countries to Wacken once a year because its the best in teh world and does indeed p**S over ozzfest lullapaloooza big day out et all.. you in the USA have nothing to moan about. and saying that a festival should tour shows how much you take for granted.. as some have said in other threads.. wacken tour?? to use an English phrase.. jog on.
64. writes:
something got under Jackrums skin.... simmer down man.... i think theres more 'what if's' going around than b****ing. I'm very content with alot of the tours in the US. But I'm sure you would be pretty stoked if something reminiscant of Wacken was touring around europe, not saying that it will ever happen but just stating how sweet it would be

Slayer , Manson , Trivium.... Havnt heard anything by Behemoth yet, but have been told they are good... lol.... WHY DON"T ANY OF THESE TOURS COME TO AUSTRALIA!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Ahwell, at least i have free tickets to Soundwave to look forward to next year... DevilDriver , Lamb Of God , Lacuna Coil (altho i heard they might be pulling out) , In Flames..... BloodHound Gang...

I saw slayer and marilyn manson in 2007 and the show was brilliant i loved slayers last album and cant wait for the new one. Didnt like Eat me Drink me from manson but i love everything up to holywood. With Twiggy back i have high hopes for Mr Mansons next LP, Anyways Manson and slayer is enough to get me to go none to mention behemoth and maybe cannibal corpse? Could be the best tour in years!
Not a fan of trivium but hey 4 great bands 1 bad. . Sign me up!

This is a great relief after reading the news about Gigantour having Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine booked. I've never seen Slayer before and I want to SOOOOOOOOO BAD! I missed out on them and Manson in '07. Here's my second chance and I'm takin' it. Trivium kills as well. Last year's lineup will be hard to top, but I'm sure some of the other bands they eventually pick will be good as well. STAY METAL

I've said it before and I'll say it again--Trivium have they're heart in the right place and they're great musicians, but the vocals and many of the lyrics are terrible...Far better gateway band than A7X, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park etc....That said, I haven't heard the new one so I can't comment on it.
I actually enjoy the middle-era Manson stuff ("Anti-Christ"-"Holywood") takes me back to simple and fun as hell times.
Slayer--whats to say, I'd love to see em live again "Christ Illusion" was quite good.
Behemoth will steal the show each night though.
