From A Second Story Window Set To Record

From A Second Story Window will enter the studio on January 16th to begin recording their new album, "Conversations." Tracking will take place at Moresound Studios (Engineer) in Syracuse, NY and the effort should hit streets this spring via Black Market Activities. Here's a statement from the band regarding the new material:

"The new stuff could not have came out better. We have worked on it for about a year now in between tours and whenever we had time to write in our small, cold (or hot, depending on the season) practice space. These songs were written with the intent of letting them come out naturally and not trying to write something to fit in a certain style of music. There will be lots of people who may be turned off by this record due to what they think we are supposed to sound like, but if you are a true lover of music we have no doubt you will enjoy it."

Adrift Post "Pushed Aside" Online

Adrift issue the following press release:

Adrift have posted the song, 'Pushed Aside,' from their debut full-length album "Absolution" on their Myspace page. This song is being marketed by Adrift as the first "single," or track formally released by Adrift to mainstream media channels such as radio, internet radio, and satellite radio.

When asked about the wisdom of releasing a single directly to the public instead of exclusively building supply and demand through such traditional media outlets, Adrift drummer Kevin Astl stated:

"We just want to get the music out there to the people, our friends and fans. We're not thumbing our nose at radio and would never do so, but we feel that our music should have as much reach as possible. If that includes radio support, then we welcome it, but in conjunction with our plans to push the record. We just feel that radio shouldn't be the ONLY place you can hear Adrift's music. "Pushed Aside" is one of those songs that people tell us is strong, melodically heavy and memorable. We've had such a positive response to the record that we want the word to spread, and we want the music to keep flowing – check out Adrift and let us know what you think of the tunes. See you at a show soon. Cheers!"

Commented bassist Jen Parker, "Cocaine is a hell of a drug."

Sin of Angels Release New Album

Rhode Island doom metal act SIN OF ANGELS have released a new full-length album In The Grip Of Despair via Obscenity Cult Records.

An excerpt from a press release reads as follows:

Their most powerful and unrelenting release to date In the Grip Of Despair is more crushing then ever, with more riff-laden oozing despair, hate and drug-induced depression their fans have come to expect. The reputation the band has achieved as one of the loudest and heaviest acts to emerge from the New England scene can only increase with the release of this album.

Sins Of Angels also recently released a split 10" with Ohio doomsters BENEATH OBLIVION on 43rd Paralell Records, and plan on hitting the road in the coming months to support these releases.

The group also recently announced the return of guitarist Todd Laskowski (WARHORSE, AS HEAVEN TURNS TO ASH). Todd was part of the group's original lineup, along with drummer Ray McCaffrey, and was instrumental in crafting the band's current sound.

Conceived in early 2003 by Ray McCaffrey, Josh Maher and Todd Laskowski, Sins Of Angels recorded and self-released a two-song demo, The Dark Sky Sessions, which contained early versions of At Journey's End and Dark Sky Prophecy (later re-recorded and released on the 2005 full-length From The Ashes).
