Incantation Post European Tour Update
INCANTATION's frontman John McEntee comments on the Blitzkrieg 4 tour of Poland (with Vader, Rotting Christ, Krisiun and Funerus). and the Balkans Assassination tour (with Krisiun, Estuary and Inactive Messiah):
"Well, first off I want to send out a big thanks to everyone at Massive Music for making this amazing tour a reality. We are very grateful that you gave us the opportunity to preform in so many country's that we have never played before. You guys really stepped up to the plate."
"Well, the third leg of the European tour was the Blitzkrieg 4 with Vader, Rotting Christ, Krisiun and my other band Funerus. It was a true honor to be apart of such a strong package after so many attempts have failed in the past to play Poland. We want to thank all our long time supporters for coming out and kicking ass every night.. You guys made the long wait worth it. We look forward to returning to Poland again and hopefully as a headliner." More...
Wintersun Discuss Technical Delays
The oft-delayed sophomore effort from former ENSIFERUM frontman, Jari Mäenpää (who celebrated a birthday on December 23rd) is STILL in the works. Drummer Kai Hahto offered the following litany of technical issues revolving around Time's timetable.
"I'm making a little statement where we are at the moment. Jari has struggled with the technical problems but there is light in the end of the tunnel. So we got the computer finally from Finland. It's new and it works but it didn't work as we hoped. We found out that 32 bit Windows only allows 2 GB RAM memory to be used and since he has 4 in his computer now, he can't use it all. It sucks! So we are buying a device to help us, a receptor. The receptor has 2 GB RAM and it's a rack device that will help us to use it for some of the synths." More...

Ministry's Jourgensen Pens Impeachment Themed Poem
Ministry mainman Al 'Alien' Jourgensen has penned a special Christmas poem entitled "T'was The Night Before Impeachment," which reads as follows:
T'was 2007 and all through the year
Not a creature was buying this climate of fear
The stockings were hung in a foreclosure scare
In hopes that the Banks would forget we were there!
The soldiers were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of extended tours messed with their heads
And Dick and Lynn Cheney with shotguns in lap
Had just pardoned Scooter for shutting his yap
When down at the White House there arose such a clatter
I sprang out the door to see what was the matter!
Away to the protest I flew like a flash
I marched for a while and got tazed in the clash
Then soon I was arrested – for what I don't know
But the ACLU said that “This just won't go!”
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But a miniature Cheney and eight dead reindeer
With his pacemaker pumping, so lively and quick
I knew in a moment it must be St. Dick!
Faster than subpoenas, his minions they came
He waterboarded and tortured and called them by name:
“Now Halliburton! Now Exxon! Now Conoco! Now Shell!
On Blackwater! On Bechtel! – Let's all go to Hell!”
To the top of the West Wing, to the top of The Wall
"Now stash away! Stash away! Stash way All!"
As voters are wondering why their vote doesn't fly
Here comes Karl Rove and he'll tell you why
So up to the White House the CEOs flew
With a sleighful of cash and Dick Cheney too!
And then, in a twinkling I heard on the roof
Was the hemming and hawing of the ultimate Goof (heh heh heh heh)
I raised just one finger and jumped all around
Coz there on the roof Ol "Dubya" came round
He was dressed all in fur that Cheney had killed
He looked rather dapper on the taxpayers' bill
A bundle of cash he had flung on his back
Looked happy as Cheney right before an attack
His eyes — how they twinkled, but his manners were weary
Coz Alberto Gonzales has so much to bury!
His droll little mouth was drawn up in a sneer
Like all of those press conferences he holds so dear
The stump of a crack pipe he held in his teeth
He said: "Laura, I'm sorry! I've relapsed — I'm weak!"
And his friend had a Wide Stance and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed in a toilet so smelly
Dim-witted and dumb a right jolly old elf
And I laughed when I saw him, giving way my own stealth
A wink of his eye and a snap of his finger
Soon gave me to know I shouldn't loiter or linger
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work
Put the cash in his stockings, then turned with a jerk
And laying his finger aside of his nose
Thumbs up! And a nod for the coke that he chose
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle
"And away to Iran like a nuclear missile!'
But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight:
"Happy Christmas to no one — Impeachment's not right!"

Middian Fighting To Keep Name
As previously reported, Middian was slapped with a cease and desist order pertaining to the use of their name via a Wisconsin band called Midian. Although Middian initially announced plans to relinquish their name, they apparently now intend to combat the legal challenge. Here's a statement from the group:
"Middian may not be dead after all. As many of you know, Middian received a cease and desist demand in October from Midian of Milwaukee LLC. This demand required Middian to stop using our name completely, stop selling our album, and further demanded that all of our recorded CDs and albums be destroyed. Middian was served a cease and desist by a band that has never played outside of Wisconsin, hasn't put out a single record, or had a steady line-up in the last 7 years. They hadn't even updated their website since year 2000, as of a few weeks ago. We played Milwaukee in May, and no one there even mentioned a local band Midian of one 'd.' Nor did one of their 'fans' come to the show.
"Prior to this demand, we had never heard of them. Upon further research into the group, we discovered they had not used their name or trademark in years or even played outside of Wisconsin, ever. Our initial response was that our bands could peacefully co-exist. Especially since we learned that our usage combined with their non-usage entitled us to the name, rendering their trademark useless. But we felt it would be wasting everyone's time and money to send the issue to litigation. Besides, before the name Middian was chosen, a careful online search was done, proving that no other active unit had the same spelling.
"Instead of responding or agreeing to our offer of co-existence, they filed a federal suit against the three of us individually, our label (Metal Blade, who dropped us because of the suit), our booking agent (Nanotear Booking), and an online merchandiser we had never even heard of until we saw the complaint.
"We sent them word that we would give the name up and even agreed to some other demands that seemed unreasonable, simply because we're not in a financial position to fight it.
"They refused to accept our settlement, demanding we pay them tens of thousands of dollars. By right of actual usage worlwide, the name Middian is ours. Regardless of that we have no choice but to fight and defend ourselves in court. We intend to strip them of their trademark and deny them their unfair demands of money and of our music.
"We're humbly asking for YOUR help. Spread the word far and wide, to wherever you can. If you can afford it, please donate some money to our defense fund. We're going to have a lot of legal fees and we're simply not in a position to pay for it by ourselves.
"We would like to thank everyone that has sent us messages. The underground metal community's love has simply been overwhelming. With your help and support, Middian will stand triumphant against this truly evil attack on our persons and families."
Dave Grohl Doesn't Like Listening To Nirvana
Foo Fighter’s front-man Dave Grohl recently revealed that he can’t listen to Nirvana’s music because he is still pained by Kurt Cobain’s death, 13 years later. The former Nirvana drummer finds it an "effort" to listen to the band’s hits when they come on the radio.
"I immediately remember what it was like the day we recorded - the food or the f*cking snowstorm. It’s like opening a box of old pictures and I don’t like to do that too often," Grohl explained.
Bloodlined Calligraphy Singer Quits Band
Singer Ellen Hoffman has parted ways with Bloodlined Calligraphy, whom she joined a little more than a year ago. Hoffman explains:
"I gave my heart, soul, passion, energy, and life for the past year into something I believed in, something that showed me the country, taught me important and huge lessons, something that drug me through the thickest mud ever, but something that gave me memories and the knowledge of the lives I had been able to reach and change for the better to cling to. Something that shaped me into the better person I am today, with the help from my creator above.
"But my journey in Bloodlined Calligraphy has come to a nice close. Sometimes you just have to 'know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em', heh. But so I don't have to repeat my reasons a hundred times to everyone that asks: I quit due to personal reasons and stuff beyond my control. I never quit even when I financially should have, until my passion and heart was all used up. Constant disappointment and constant struggle take a toll on a person and sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith into a new path so you can look back and everything make sense that way. That time is now. I followed my heart into the band, I gave what I had until there was nothing left, so now my heart calls me out and into other things. That is just how things work, with me."
Necros Christos Finishing Recording New Material
NECROS CHRISTOS is currently rehearsing for a last three song recording with Luciferus Christhammer on drums which will feature a brand new track, a cover from Black Sabbath and a newly arranged version of the classic "Doom Of Nekros – Death Of Christos." Those tracks will be released as 4th side on the upcoming vinyl release of all three Necros Christos demos somewhere in 2008.
Labels taking care of this output are Faustian Distribution, Ahdistuksen Aihio and Black Warcult Productions. The vinyl version of "Triune Impurity Rites" is coming very soon on Sepulchral Voice Records. Slight problems occurred according to the re-press of the CD, as the printing factory denied the reprint due to the content of the booklet.
Death To Music Gives Away 10 Releases For Free
DEATH TO MUSIC prodcutions have fulfilled all "anti-contractual obligations" by providing 10 releases (albums & EPs) for free over the past few months - available via the official website, www.deathtomusic.com.
Death To Music productions is the new "anti - record label" founded by James Fogarty - previously of experimental metal project Ewigkeit, also a former founding member of Black Metallers The Meads Of Asphodel, and was launched in order to release music for music's sake rather than the usual money-driven route of labels / distros / magazines in order to get music heard.
"...all these fucking labels and other vampires of the music industry are just not neccesary anymore for artists writing and releasing music in more underground styles - for me and many, many other hard-working musicians & bands, our music is first & foremostly about getting your stuff heard by people, and certainly not about working your arse off to make money for other people..."
"..as a statement of intent, I have now given away everything I have ever recorded, and now look forwards to working with new projects and artists on Death To Music....."
James was tired of having to deal with record labels who didnt treat their artists fairly, and subsequently burnt all his record contracts and reclaimed the music (see the video here)
The first physical release is out now in the form of James Fogarty's new politico-industrial metal project The Bombs Of Enduring Freedom's self-titled debut album. You can check out some of their material on the band's MySpace page.
2008 will see the release of more projects who are choosing to collaborate with Death To Music productions in order to get their music heard, rather than the usual route of labels / distros / magazines. More...
Fear Factory Member Wants To Produce Unsigned Acts
FEAR FACTORY guitarist and aspiring producer Christian Olde Wolbers has issued the following update:
"I have been providing my services to help out young starting bands on production, direction and guidience with their music. I just got back from a two-week pre-production trip to Tampa, Florida to help out END OF THE ROPE. And it was a very creative and productive experience. We all reached our goal of making the band sonically a better tighter unit.
"In February I will travel to Tampa again to record and produce the band's debut album.
"Any young bands that have inquiries about me working on pre-production to help out your band or producing your future album, please contact Christy at Christy@archetypemanagement.com."
As previously reported, Christian is currently collaborating with FEAR FACTORY drummer Raymond Herrera and THREAT SIGNAL frontman Jon Howard on a brand new side project. The as-yet-unnamed group will occupy much of the trio's time while FEAR FACTORY frontman Burton C. Bell focuses on his ASCENSION OF THE WATCHERS project, which recently inked a deal with MINISTRY mainman Al Jourgensen's 13th Planet Records.
Christian Olde Wolbers produced THREAT SIGNAL's debut album, "Under Reprisal", which was released in North America on August 22, 2006 via Nuclear Blast Records. More...
