Dave Grohl Doesn't Like Listening To Nirvana
Foo Fighter’s front-man Dave Grohl recently revealed that he can’t listen to Nirvana’s music because he is still pained by Kurt Cobain’s death, 13 years later. The former Nirvana drummer finds it an "effort" to listen to the band’s hits when they come on the radio.
"I immediately remember what it was like the day we recorded - the food or the f*cking snowstorm. It’s like opening a box of old pictures and I don’t like to do that too often," Grohl explained.

yeah kurt and nirvana started the whole 90s grunge movement, however, i dont think kurt was all that and sh**. his guitr playing was sh** and his vocals were terrible. different but terrible. dave was the whole good think to come out of that band. dave was the only talent in that band.

Well here is a better one. My uncle Wayne and my Mother were close friends. Always listened to music together and like a idiot at age 19 shot himself in the head after alot of drama with his girlfriend, my mothers mother and thd loss of his job and home. My mother didnt cry about it forever and avoid the tunes they would play together. She instead womaned up and if she can do it, then so can anyone. Celebration is the way to go, not crying about it long after. Dave needs to man up! Its not healty either to wallow in depression like that either.

First of all sorry for your story, it's terrible. Glad to see your mom is doing good. But Dave never said he was depressed over it but it just brings back memories and that pains him. Like I said it as nothing to do with being a man, it's just personal to him. Maybe one day he will listen to it without having that much pain but for now, he just can't...that's all. And people react in different ways. your mom dealt with it the way she could and Dave is handling it the his way. you can't expect people to just be the same as you or your Mom.
Anyways my respects to your Mom, I too have to live with somebody who took his life and never getting an answer is painful enough.

My Mom is my hero and she is a trooper. By the way Dave sounds he sounds depressed about Kurt. To me the best way to deal with death is to celebrate the deciest. My Moms tragic loss is why I am a councelor to those who need it. I think Kurt needed help (being married to Courtney Love alone would send any person to the phyc office) and yet did not get help. Why is beyond me as life is a great indulgance if you try. Stay strong and celebrate Red. I would hate for anyone to cry over my death. I would want people to celebrate me and be greatful for the good times.

I've lost family members and friends and sometimes that sh** is tough to revisit.
I'm sure the same goes for Dave Grohl and I'm positive those that were close to Darrell Abbot still struggle with his loss.
I was always a metal kid first but I remember feeling bad for all those Nirvana fans when Cobain died. I'm sure the fans have moved on but families and friends still feel the sting of that loss every now and then.
Blackdog is right about Probot though, that was pretty a cool (and metal, thus relevant) project.

To be fair, Mayhem have more of a right to be mentioned here than Nirvana, and regardless of what they did are still infinately better. Hellhammer wipes the floor with Grohl. I have respect for him because of the status he's gained in the music industry but I don't really give a sh** what he thinks about any band.

...funny how most people were posting sh** like---> you will be missed, RIP, so sad...what a shame! on the dead drummer from Decapitated article...and here...people seem forget what they say just to bash another person they dont like! ohh...im sure that in your own minds, cause you like ther person less, it hurts others less...but out here in the real world...but then again i guess i should speak your language: you people should man up and quit mourning the Decapitated drummer

I think you guys are making too big of a deal out of this. Someone probably just asked Dave how he feels about Nirvana and those were his comments/feelings. We all take good and bad things in different ways, and that's how Dave took the loss of someone close to him. I can undestand how he feels, and I think it's better to be honest about it instead of launching into some sort of a "f*** nirvana and f*** kurt. Foo Fighters rock" type of a thing, or whatever he might say to make it all seem like the bad sh** never happened in the first place.

the way i see it Mr Grohl doesnt like listening to nirvana coz of memories right.
So that means mr grohl doesnt like listening to nirvana coz of the memories it brings back
its as simple as that.
its not dave ghrohl doesnt like listening to nirvana coz hes a p***y, or coz mayhem, or dimbeag(RIP) ar any other reason
its coz he personally doesnt want to listen to Nirvana. because it pains him to.
none of you are him, or feel like he does when he listens to nirvana, or shared the years till death with mr.Cobain.
f*** get over yourselves people. i dont like nirvana. in fact i think they sucked ass. but you cant just be k n obs all the time s hit

dont tell anyone to man up...if not listening to the music helps grohl then let him not listen to it,,,and to everyone who thinks nirvana "sucks" or you cant stand em... keep it to yourself cuz you probably couldnt do a better job..nor make an impact like nirvana did..

You know what they say about opinions... They are like arse holes... Everyone has one and they all stink. In my opinion Dave is being a p***y and letting the memory of Kurt die by not celebrating him. In my opinion a real man faces his struggles and does not run from any battle.

Well, I don't like listening to Nirvana either, but I can sing the hell out of it on "Rock Band," haha. Actually, I do like Grohl--he's a talented guy, and I'll take "Red War" off the Probot album, too.
Now playing (or trying to play): drums on "Blackened" on Rock Band...and listening to "Epoch of War" by Becoming the Archetype.

You people dont even know what its f***in like to be in a spotlight do you?
try it sometime people before you judge. its like saying man up, when your brother/sister dies.
and as for probot, its just a side project with grohl on the f***in drums, which is actually the best part. He is also a drummer for two other bands people,if you didnt know. The Queens of the Stone Age and Tenacious D. im just saying to all of you people, learn a lil more before you try and tell someone to man up. Look at yourself. You man up!

Dave needs to man the Hell up and get over it! I dont care how insensitive I may sound either! Just because your band mate dies does not mean you act like a p***y! Dead and Euronamyse of Mayhem died and you don't hear the band crying about it!
