Grief of War Signs To Prosthetic Records

Los Angeles-based Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the addition of Japan's GRIEF OF WAR to the label's roster. Having formed - in their own words - for the purpose of being the true heir of real heavy metal, GRIEF OF WAR was started from humble beginnings in 2002 based out of Tokyo, and almost immediately after forming, the band quickly started rehearsing to develop and refine their sound through a series pre-productions recordings. Releasing the self-titled 'Grief of WAR' demo in 2003, the band began receiving positive reaction about the release from a handful of CD shops and fanzines inside their native Japan, prompting the quartet to being energetically playing live in June 2004. Through this, the band began gaining an increasing fan base throughout Tokyo through uncountable tours and live dates, including playing together with Danish metal band Mnemic in March of 2005. GRIEF OF WAR finally unleashed the band’s debut full-length, 'A Mounting Crisis...As Their Fury Got Released’ through hometown label Yggr Drasill Records in May 2005.

Self-described as "Samurai Crunch," GRIEF OF WAR aims to capture the title as the heir of real traditional metal in the golden 80s, through a deal with Prosthetic Records set to begin with the release "A Mounting Crisis..." outside Japan on February 19, 2008. You can preview some music from the effort on the band's MySpace page.

Lacuna Coil Singer Talks Band History And More

Cameron Edney of Australia's Inside_Out666 recently conducted an interview with LACUNA COIL singer Andrea Ferro. A few excerpts from the chat follow:

Inside_Out666: There's been a lot of talk that you are open to doing an all-acoustic EP and or full album. Is it possible that once you finally get back home that you will start penning ideas for that?

Andrea Ferro: Yeah, yeah, the idea is basically to keep the songwriting going between the Japanese shows and the Australian tour and then come home and keep going into next year. Then we will be meeting up with our management and label to see what is expected, when the possibility of a release will be etc. At the moment we are a bit slow on the song writing, we are collecting ideas mostly. This month we have been mostly arranging our private lives, we have been away for so long touring, we have been busy moving houses, or somebody is getting married. There are a lot of personal things going on! We have been collecting ideas for the next album though.

Inside_Out666: [Laughs] Have you got any working titles that you can share with us.

Andrea Ferro: No basically it's a lot of musical ideas but very rough. We are trying to change the way we have been writing. In the past we have always written the music using a computer program. We were sharing it with everybody and everyone would add vocals or lyrics, but this time we want some songs to be created more naturally. This way we can have some more spontaneous songs created from the jamming room. We would like the next album to be a bit different and fresh. When you listen to it you will go "oh, is this LACUNA COIL?" But not in a bad way [laughs]. I think its time for us to grow with a more mature album!

Inside_Out666: I do want to congratulate you on the massive success you have received since the release of "Karmacode", it's a fantastic album. Looking back on the recording process now, is there anything you would have changed?

Andrea Ferro: Ah, we would have worked more on the production side. We would have spent a little more time on the recording and the sound. Not so much on the songs themselves, but in general on the production. Some songs could have been a little more direct probably. I think an album is a picture of the moment, and for that moment it was perfect. "Karmacode" was a very weird album, we were coming off a big success with "Comalies" and we didn't know which direction to take. It was very hard for us to be 100% satisfied with everything 'cause we were under pressure to decide what we wanted to do. We were very happy with "Karmacode", it brought us to different levels in terms of popularity, but I think we still have time to improve as a band and make an even better album.

Inside_Out666: Andrea, it has been a little over ten years since you released the first LACUNA COIL demos. Looking back at it now, did you ever imagine that by the end of 2007 just over a decade later you would be touring Australia and playing to loyal and devoted fans all across the world?

Andrea Ferro: No, no never in a million years. When we started we just did the demo for ourselves and tried to send it out for a laugh to the labels and the magazines [laughs].

Inside_Out666: [Laughs]

Andrea Ferro: We never expected to become professional musicians or this to become our job. We were just a bunch of friends that were hanging out in the same metal pubs. There was no history of other bands from Italy doing the same thing, making a career out of playing metal. We were really the first example of this kind. It really was a unique experience and we never ever thought we would push it to this level, never in a million years!

Inside_Out666: Andrea, over the years you have shared the stage with so many great bands such as IN FLAMES, BLACK SABBATH, JUDAS PRIEST and MEGADETH, to name just a few. Who have you enjoyed touring with the most and can you share a funny story from the road with us?

Andrea Ferro: Luckily we always have very good experiences and keep good relationships with all the bands, well most of the bands that we have toured with. I think that the tour we did with ROB ZOMBIE was one of the best in the United States. He's a legend, and he was treating us so nicely. At the end of the tour everyone didn't want to leave. We cooked some Italian pasta for him and the crew at the last gig, and we got dressed up like zombies and walked on stage during one of the songs.

Inside_Out666: [laughs]

Andrea Ferro: Rob was very friendly; he grabbed us during the song and threw us on the floor. We filmed everything, it was great! Ozzfest is very cool too. It's like a summer camp for metal bands. There is a lot of hanging out, a lot of drinking and smoking together. It's a big party travelling around America. Ozzfest is always a very funny experience.

Inside_Out666: Andrea, what is the craziest rumour you have ever heard about yourself and or the band?

Andrea Ferro: Oh, there were some weird stories going around. I don't know who bought them out but people were saying that we were all showering together naked with Cristina after the show [laughs]. Sometimes people say that me and Cristina are married and that's not true.

Linkin Park Win American Music Award

Multi-platinum rock act LINKIN PARK spent the weekend solidifying its position as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. As U.S. fans nominated the group for an American Music Award in the "Alternative Rock Music Category", the band was making history overseas as the first international rock group to perform at a stadium in China.

Touring in support of platinum-plus-selling new album "Minutes To Midnight", LINKIN PARK played to a sold-out crowd at the prestigious Shanghai Hongkou Stadium Sunday night (November 18), wowing fans with a set list that showcased past and present hits.

Shanghai was the band's sole stop in Mainland China and follows a string of top-selling European dates and a sold-out U.S. tour.

Co-produced by the legendary Rick Rubin (U2, TOM PETTY, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) and LINKIN PARK frontman Mike Shinoda. "Minutes To Midnight" (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros. Records) is the third studio release from LINKIN PARK, following "Hybrid Theory" (2000) and "Meteora" (2003). The album debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 and sold 623,996 copies in its first week alone. Four weeks after its release, it was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales exceeding 1 million copies. The album has shipped over 4.2 million worldwide, reaching #1 in 32 countries, and is certified platinum in 19 countries. It's one of the highest-debuting albums of 2007.

New single and video "Shadow Of The Day" follows previous top ten "Minutes To Midnight" singles "What I've Done" (which hit #1 on the Modern Rock chart) and "Bleed It Out" (#2 on Modern Rock chart).

Commented bassist Derek Harn: "It's been well over a year since we've done a full U.S. tour and we're all anxious to get back out on the road and rock you again.

"Our latest album, 'Summon In Thunder', has been getting great reviews and a lot of excitement from fans new and old.

"We'll be playing a lot of new material on these dates and we have a new powerhouse of a drummer named Joe Frothingham. He hails from the woods of Washington state and he loves to beat the hell out of his drums.

"We are very fortunate to be playing these dates with AMON AMARTH and look forward to making friends with them and SONIC SYNDICATE.

"Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the members of DECAPITATED and their families. Their presence on this tour will be sadly missed.

"Check out the webisode of that and the outtakes from the music video. We'll be bringing you another installment next week with more footage and craziness from the road.

"We look forward to seeing you headbanging in the crowds across the country. Be sure to stop by our merch table to give us some high-fives."

Heavy metal videos are played during the opening hours. The bar opened in 1989 with Manu Da Silva, a former roadie for Iron Maiden, as manager. After Manu's death in 2005, the bar closed. Former Iced Earth Guitarist Convicted Of Rape

Esteban Parra of The News Journal reports that former ICED EARTH guitarist Ernie Carletti was convicted today (Monday, November 19) of kidnapping and rape in the abduction of a University of Delaware student in 2003.

A Superior Court jury found the 32-year-old musician guilty on two counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree kidnapping. The jury acquitted Carletti on a weapons charge.

Carletti admitted to abducting the student, shackling her arms and legs then hogtying her at his Maryland home until she began crying. He, however, testified he did not have a gun and he did not rape the woman.

"Maybe I wasn't thinking clearly," Carletti said about pulling the woman into his car May 22, 2003, then shackling her arms and legs and duct taping her eyes shut. "It was just part of the effect. I didn't say she wanted it, but she did not deny it."

Carletti — who joined ICED EARTH in June 2006 and didn't appear on any of the band's recordings or perform with the group before his September 2006 arrest — said he was driving to his Elkton, Md., home through Newark about 1:30 a.m. when he saw the woman at the South Chapel Street Burger King. Carletti testified the two started talking. When she approached the driver side of his car, Carletti said he pulled her into the vehicle.

The victim has testified that he had a gun, which he denied in court last week.

As he drove off, he asked the woman: "Mind if I handcuff you?"

"I'm not saying it was courtship, but it is something we discussed," he said.

After handcuffing her, Carletti said he shackled her legs and put duct tape over her eyes and drove to his home.

When asked why he would blindfold her, Carletti said it was done for "effect."

Prosecutor Donald R. Roberts said the pressure was so intense the victim's eye vessel burst and she nearly passed out.

Carletti said he then escorted the woman into his house and sat her on a couch, where there was a "little bit of talking, a little bit of caressing, a little bit of kissing."

Roberts asked if she kissed him back, to which Carletti said he only kissed her on the cheek.

After admiring her in that position, Carletti said he gagged her mouth, placed her on a table and hogtied her. But he said he did not hoist her off the ground as she has testified.

He said he released her from this position after 3 to 4 minutes because she signified she was uncomfortable.

When asked if he thought being hogtied was painful, Carletti said he has previously been in that position and disagreed it hurt.

"No. Actually it is not painful," he said.

Afterwards, the victim was placed in the car and returned to Newark where she was pushed out of the moving car onto West Main Street, Roberts said.

Carletti became a suspect in May 2006 and was arrested after police matched his fingerprints to a print found on the duct tape that had been placed over one of the victim's eyes.

Roberts said Carletti initially told police he had not taken the woman or hogtied her. Carletti later changed his story when told about the fingerprint, saying it was consensual bondage.

Hurley told jurors Carletti did not rape the woman. Instead he stood at the other end of his basement and masturbated to the constrained woman.

Roberts said it "defied logic" that the victim would consent to bondage.

Carletti, who was in the bands NAUGHTY NAUGHTY and ICED EARTH, was charged earlier this year in another sexual assault that occurred when he was in high school.

In that case, the victim said the two cut class and went to his parents' apartment for a party. When they entered the apartment, he threw her to the floor and bound her hands behind her back with a neck tie that was on a living room couch.

According to court documents, Carletti made her sit on a wooden chair in his room and bound her legs to the legs of the chair with duct tape. He then pushed the chair into his bedroom closet and left her there for about 20 minutes.

When he took her out, Carletti freed her from the chair, but allegedly forced her to undress, then tied her to his bed and raped her. After he was finished he again tied her to the chair and returned her to the closet for about 30 minutes, according to court documents.

She returned to school when he released her.

That case is pending.

Korn Singer Speaks On Solo Tour

KORN lead singer Jonathan Davis is just 10 days into his first-ever solo tour and he told The Pulse of Radio couldn't be any happier with the way things are going. "It's been amazing," he said. "I cannot complain. It's been a great, great tour so far. Great experience. I can't believe the players I have in my band and what more can I say, it's something completely different."

Davis brings his "Alone I Play" tour to Washington D.C. on Monday night (November 19), with dates scheduled through mid-December.

Davis' show in New York City last Tuesday (November 13) was attended by KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, who was apparently in town to purchase a loft to reside in for a while.

Shane Gibson, currently playing guitar in Davis' solo band, will also be the touring guitarist for KORN when the group hits the road again in early 2008.

Davis recorded a live CD/DVD at a private concert for friends and family just before starting the tour, which he is now selling at the shows.

Seven Witches Frontman Slams The Cursed Guitarist

SEVEN WITCHES mainman Jack Frost has slammed THE CURSED/ex-HADES guitarist Dan Lorenzo for allegedly "talking a lot of shit" about him and "putting a lot of shit on the Internet" about him "for no reason whatsoever." Speaking to "The Classic Metal Show", Frost stated, "The guy [Dan Lorenzo] is a douchebag and a shitty guitar player, and I hope he hears this finally. He talks a lot of shit about me to people. So I just want to say this: Dan Lorenzo is a douchebag."

He continued, "Dan talks a lot of shit about me, and he puts a lot of shit on the Internet about me for no reason whatsoever. I've always been nice to this guy, dude, and he really ripped me apart to a lot of people for no reason. That's why I'm pretty disgusted with him. I just don't like the guy anymore. I wish he would say it to my face that he doesn't like me. I'd be cool with that. Alan [Tecchio, current SEVEN WITCHES vocalist who previously played with Lorenzo in both HADES and NON-FICTION] is an amazing singer, and I'm tired of people putting him down. That's kind of like...I'm pretty annoyed with what Dan's been saying about me, to be honest with you. I never talk shit about people, ever. But this is the first time that I've had enough of, you know...it got back to me pretty bad. . . He's saying that I'm a shitty guitar player. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm terrible. I'm a joke. I'm a joke in the industry."

Dan Lorenzo has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET in response to Jack Frost's comments:

"This morning, for the first time, I heard what Jack had said about me on 'The Classic Metal Show' this weekend. I was surprised and figured he must have me confused with somebody else. Jack said I 'put a lot of shit on the Internet' about him. Perhaps I don't know how to use Google properly...but I can't find ANYTHING I've said about him! Jack also said 'Dan is a shitty guitar player, and I hope he hears this FINALLY'... so I guess Jack has been saying that for awhile for me to hear! Who knew? The more I think about it... he's RIGHT! I am a shitty guitar player! I was NEVER into technical players. I consider myself a songwriter and a mediocre guitar play who has his own style.

"The ONLY thing I can ever remember saying about SEVEN WITCHES was that it's not my style of music and that I had heard a few songs off their last album and I thought Alan sang much better than the reviews would have had me believe.

"I know Jack was a big fan of NON-FICTION. Somebody told me that perhaps Jack is upset that Alan and I are on speaking terms again.

"I'd be MORE upset about Jack accusing me of things I've never said, but I'm just so happy to see my name in the news in ANY capacity! Jack, next time PLEASE mention www.DanLorenzo.net and/or www.the-cursed.net."

Tool Frontman Questions Radiohead Album Strategy

According to The Pulse of Radio, TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan admitted to Spinner.com on Friday (November 16) that he's skeptical about RADIOHEAD's recent digital release of its new album, "In Rainbows". Keenan said that it was easy for a band as popular as RADIOHEAD to let its fans pay what they want for the record, explaining, "I love RADIOHEAD. They're a great band, but I do think — and I'll go on record now as saying I'll probably be wrong and time will tell — what they did is a one-trick pony in a way, 'cause it might work for a publicity thing to allow people to download it, but it's very comfortable for them to be able to do that. They're going to make lots of money touring and they've already made lots of money selling records."

While Keenan believes that the distribution of music has entered a new era, he told The Pulse of Radio that it will still have its share of problems. "One thing that I see the musicians wanting is more independence and, you know, more control over their destiny," he said. "The one downside to it is that for the most part, the reason they make music is because they're damaged goods and they're generally not that bright when it comes to making business decisions. So eventually the vampires that survive the aftermath of the industry collapse will figure out a way to get their fingers back into these guys."

Keenan told Spinner.com that giving away music could hurt smaller acts, saying, "The people it will affect are those in-between bands that all of a sudden got a catchy song and people start passing it around for free. Well, if the people that got it would actually have paid for (it), these guys may have been able to afford another record 'cause guess what, there are no more labels."

Keenan issued the debut album from his project PUSCIFER, titled "V Is For Vagina", through his own label last month.

TOOL kicked off a new North American tour last week and plays Monday night (November 19) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Velvet Revolver Frontman Talks Autobiography

Dean Goodman of Reuters reports that Scott Weiland said on Sunday that he has a publishing deal to write an autobiography, but is feeling overwhelmed by the prospect of chronicling his eventful life to date.

"It's a weird thing," the VELVET REVOLVER frontman told reporters backstage at the American Music Awards. "You make a lot of records, write a lot of songs, but all of a sudden you go into a whole different vein, and it's a little bit scary to dive into."

Weiland, 40, said he would collaborate on the project with David Ritz, the "Sexual Healing" lyricist who has co-written autobiographies for the likes of Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and most recently Don Rickles. He did not reveal the name of the publisher.

Weiland was accompanied by VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash, who just wrote a self-titled memoir with Anthony Bozza (Eminem, Tommy Lee).

Slash's advice to Weiland? "Just jump in, and once you get going you can't stop."

Slash, 42, said there has been "some interest" from Hollywood producers in adapting his book for the screen, "but I haven't really looked into it."

Static-X Frontman Prepared To Record New Album

STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static tells Dan Condon of Australia's Time Off magazine that fans of the band have responded very positively to the direction of "Cannibal", the group's fifth and undoubtedly heaviest record to date

"It's been great, it's been awesome," he says. "I think our fans really love it and appreciate the fact it's heavier and we've had a great response.

"I wanted to make the heaviest record that we've ever made and still be very STATIC-X, but I wanted to definitely make the most metal record we've ever made as well.”

In order to make the record he wanted, Static decided to take on the main production duties himself, though decided to enlist some help from engineer John Travis.

'I wanted to be the main producer this time around, because I really knew exactly what I wanted to do," he says. 'I really wanted to strip things down and make the record raw and heavy sounding so that was why I insisted on being the lead producer.

"I chose John Travis to work with me because he's an awesome engineer and he's also a musician and has great ideas and mostly is just a really fun guy to hang out with and he drinks a lot and tells great jokes."

There will be no time for rest after the Australian tour wraps up — Static is ready to begin work on the band's next album.

"After the Australian tour we're gonna go home right away and start writing the next record," he says. "I plan on working very hard on that and hopefully we'll have the next record out in the middle of next year.

"I haven't actually written anything but I know exactly what I want to do. I have a lot of great ideas brewing in my head and I'm really looking forward to getting started on it, actually."

Crown Of Thorns Working On New Album

CROWN OF THORNS is currently recording its new album at a Los Angeles studio with producer Bob Clearmountain. Frontman Jean Beauvoir states: "We've been working hard on the record. Tommy Lafferty just flew back to San Francisco today after some days of guitars. I head to L.A. on Thursday and we will be working five days recording drums and bass with Bob Clearmountain in his studio. It's going well!"

The as-yet-untitled CD is due in early 2008 via Frontiers Records.

Formed at the dawn of the '90s by Beauvoir (songwriter for KISS, RAMONES, LIONEL RICHIE, and JOHN WAITE, among others, and former member of PLASMATICS and VOODOO X), Tony Thompson of CHIC and POWERSTATION, Micki Free of SHALAMAR and top session bassist Michael Paige, CROWN OF THORNS quickly became the subject of a fierce major label bidding war.

Fate decreed, however, that the resulting self-titled debut album — due to the changes in the musical climates and management differences — got released independently only in mid-April 1994 to much critical acclaim. This was promptly followed by a packed out show at London's Marquee Club. With the album receiving rave reviews everywhere, it entered the metal charts a week after release and stayed there for an incredible six months!

In 1995 CROWN OF THORNS was asked by Jon Bon Jovi to be special guests to BON JOVI and VAN HALEN for three months throughout Europe, playing to over a million people. They soon after headed back into the studio for the completion of their album "Breakthrough", released in 1996.

CROWN OF THORNS released another three amazing studio albums — "Lost Cathedral" in 1998, "Destiny Unknown" in 2000 and "Karma" in 2002 — to great acclaim.

Motorhead Mainman Violates U.K. Smoking Ban

World Entertainment News Network reports that MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister is facing a $100 (£50) fine after openly flouting a smoking ban at a concert in the UK.

A British police spokesman says, "Other venues on the tour will be notified and appropriate action may be taken should any further incidents take place."

Helloween Bassist To Do Hard Rock Album

Frontiers Records will release the debut album from Markus Grosskopf's (HELLOWEEN) BASSINVADERS, entitled "Hellbassbeaters", on January 25, 2008.

BASSINVADERS was a creation of Markus' while sitting in a bar and enjoying a few drinks. It was there that he got inspired to produce a heavy rock record without any guitars at all. He presented this concept in early 2007 to Frontiers Records, which was intrigued by the idea and gave it a go.

According to a press release, "Hellbassbeaters" contains all the basic elements of a heavy rock record "and so much more. You got the strong vocals, rhythmic bass, intoxicating drums and even bass and twin bass solo parts. What you hear is what you get: 100% genuine heavy rock record with absolutely no discordant guitar note on it at all." To guarantee a great variety of different influences, Markus invited some well-known singing bass players from the German metal scene to join the band, including DESTRUCTION's Schmier, SODOM's frontman Tom Angelripper and RAGE's Peavy. He also managed to get a few of his bass heroes to lay down solos on some of the tracks, including Billy Sheehan, Rudy Sarzo and DD Verni.

Guest musicians include:

Bass:

Billy Sheehan (STEVE VAI, MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH)
Rudy Sarzo (DIO, OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, QUIET RIOT)

Chris Jericho Appears On MTV Canada

Chris Jericho — lead vocalist for FOZZY and former WWE wrestling champion — was recently interviewed on MTV Canada about his autobiography, "A Lion's Tale: Around the World in Spandex" (Grand Central Publishing), which focuses on the early days of his wrestling and performing career. Watch the seven-minute clip below.

In a July 2007 interview with The Baltimore Sun, Jericho had the following to say about FOZZY's current status: "We did a lot of touring last year in the UK. We've actually made a good name for ourselves in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We toured there five times between February '05 and February '06. We also toured Australia, Germany, Canada and a little bit in the States. We did kind of a world tour. Once you do that, in order to tour again, you have to work on a new record. That's where we're at right now. I've already written all the lyrics for it and the guys in the band are starting to come up with some riffs. But they [some of the other members of FOZZY] have another band called STUCK MOJO that they've been touring with all summer, so it goes back and forth. It's kind of on hold just until we can get time together to start working on a new record. We're very fortunate. The last record did a lot for us and it was cool because we got to headline at a lot of big places, especially in England. We played at the London Astoria three times and sold it out all three times, and that's a famous venue. THE BEATLES played the Astoria. IRON MAIDEN played the Astoria. Some really big bands still play there to this day, so just to go to places like that and sell them out and tear the house down, it's like you put a little checkmark by that knowing that, 'Well, we did that.' It's cool to know that you've been vindicated and know that the band got big enough to do that basically on our own with not a lot of help from anybody."

FOZZY recently released a collection of never-before-heard demos, early mixes and instrumental versions taken from guitarist Rich "The Duke" Ward's personal library.

FOZZY's third album, "All That Remains", was released in January 2005 via SPV Records. A video for the album's first single, "Enemy", was filmed in San Diego, CA in December 2004 with director/British filmmaker Paul Hough.

"All That Remains" was produced by Rick Beato (SHINEDOWN, CHARLIE MARS, INGRAM HILL) and features guest performances by guitar legends Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY), Marty Friedman (ex-MEGADETH), and Mark Tremonti (CREED, ALTER BRIDGE). Gold-record-selling rap artist BONE CRUSHER also makes a special guest appearance on the record. More...

Rob Zombie Talks Live DVD

Chris Harris of MTV.com reports: Not only does Rob Zombie hope to record another studio LP in 2008, he's still working on the companion DVD to his recently released album, "Zombie Live", Zombie's inaugural live offering, which sold 15,000 copies during its first week to debut at #57 on the Billboard top 200. He'd like to have the DVD finished for a spring 2008 release, he said during a recent teleconference with reporters.

"I'm not sure [when the DVD will be in stores], 'cause right now, the editor who I'll have edit that is editing [this] behind-the-scenes documentary, documenting the making of 'Halloween', " he said, referring to his re-imagining of the 1978 classic, which hit theaters last summer. "So when he's done doing that, he's then going to go do this one. So, who knows?

"I didn't want to really just make a live DVD, because I felt like, 'Ah, who cares?' " he continued. "What I really did was [make] a tour documentary similar to the documentary I made for the DVD for 'Devil's Rejects', where it starts with the first rehearsal through the building of the stage, through traveling and flying and playing every show and after the show and this and that."

So what of that long-rumored, oft-delayed WHITE ZOMBIE box set, a compilation of every piece of music the band ever put to tape?

"I don't know when it's going to come out," he explained. "I always keep putting it on the backburner to do other projects. What my plan for what to put on it was basically every single thing ever, so that I could put out the box set and go, 'That's everything. Don't ask me about anything else. That is absolutely everything that band's ever recorded.' There [won't be] a lot of extra stuff, but there's tons of stuff that was never even on CD that was just on these limited vinyl releases. I'm not real good at going back and wanting to redo old stuff. I always want to do new stuff, so that's why the project keeps dragging on forever."

Sepultura Guitarist Recording Solo Album

Brand new video footage taken during the recording sessions for SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser's upcoming solo album, "Hubris 1 & 2", can be viewed below.

A two-disc set, "Hubris 1 & 2" is tentatively scheduled for release next year via Holland's Mascot Records. The CD is being recorded in part at A Voz do Brasil studio in São Paulo, Brazil.

In a 2006 interview with The Metal Exiles, Kisser stated about the upcoming effort, "It will be a double album, with the first disc being electric and the second disc being more acoustic and percussion[-based]." On why he decided to release a solo album now, Andreas said, "There was this label in Holland [Mascot] and said I should release something myself. Here is the deal, release something if you want to. I have a lot of material lying around so I am organizing it and recording it now. I am taking my time, as I am not in a rush, I want to enjoy it as much as I can."

In a recent interview with Romania's Metalhead TV, Andreas Kisser stated about SEPULTURA's current touring/recording plans, "Our intention, really, is to play as much as we can to prepare this band to start writing new material. So we're gonna start writing a new album at the end of the year, hopefully to release next year, sometime in the second [half of 2008]."

Back in March, SEPULTURA filmed the second video from their "Dante XXI" album, for the song "Ostia". The clip was shot at a studio in São Paulo prior to the band's departure for their European tour. During the following week, the video crew and the main actor shot the outdoor scenes in downtown São Paulo. The script, which adapts the story from the book "The Divine Comedy" to the modern days, was directed by Geraldo Moraes. More...

Daylight Dies Comment On Upcoming CD

North Carolina's DAYLIGHT DIES has issued the following update:

"We're pleased to announce that all songs for our third album have been written. This includes eight songs that add up to roughly 50 minutes in length.

"This is certainly our most varied and dynamic effort, with simultaneously our meanest and our most fragile songs to date. We're especially proud of this album, as it's certainly our best.

"As stated previously, the material is a mix of beautiful melancholic leads and harsh dissonant rhythms; despair-driven hooks and the overall dark atmosphere you've come to expect. We're still refining lyrics, but two song titles will be 'The Morning Light' and 'Cathedral'. We'll divulge more titles, including the album title in the near future. We enter the studio in a bit under three weeks."

DAYLIGHT DIES' latest album, "Dismantling Devotion", is out on Candlelight Records. The CD was mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Thomas Eberger at The Cutting Room (OPETH, THE HIVES).

Iron Maiden Confirm Paris Show

IRON MAIDEN will perform at the Ominisport De Bercy Arena in Paris, France on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 as part of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008.

Bassist Steve Harris says: "We've had many great shows at the Omnisport De Bercy venue over recent years and it was actually the first place in Europe we played with the current lineup back in 1999. The atmosphere there is always electric thanks to the energy of the fans and we're really looking forward to playing there again. It's also tremendous to be able to use the profile of the 'Live after Death' DVD to do what is effectively an '80s show. It will be enormous fun and changing the approach to the songs we play tour by tour keeps it fresh and interesting for both the band and the fans alike. l think 'Powerslave' was an incredible show with the Egyptian theme and I'm looking forward to seeing it all again myself."

Thunder Issue Tour Update

British rockers THUNDER have issued the following update:

"We know some of you fans like to wait until the last minute to buy tickets, so we thought we'd warn you that the UK shows are selling extremely well - so well that it looks as though several of the shows may well sell out any moment now. If you are one of the ones that haven't got around to getting your tickets yet, we suggest you do it....NOW! You really don't want to miss out do you? Of course not!"

"The Xmas show is selling really well as well - don't forget that the ticket price includes the CD of the highlights from the show! (bargain!). As usual with the Xmas Gigs, the show is in two parts (part one is sit down and calm(ish) and part two a is full on Thunder show - with a twist). Both sets feature special guests, songs old and new and some covers too. The dodgy inflatables and Xmas decos are shaping up to be even dodgier this year (!). The word from the top at Thunder Towers is that there will be a request that everyone wears a suitably iffy Xmas hat. You simply HAVE to be there! More when I have it." More...
