Static-X Frontman Prepared To Record New Album

STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static tells Dan Condon of Australia's Time Off magazine that fans of the band have responded very positively to the direction of "Cannibal", the group's fifth and undoubtedly heaviest record to date

"It's been great, it's been awesome," he says. "I think our fans really love it and appreciate the fact it's heavier and we've had a great response.

"I wanted to make the heaviest record that we've ever made and still be very STATIC-X, but I wanted to definitely make the most metal record we've ever made as well.”

In order to make the record he wanted, Static decided to take on the main production duties himself, though decided to enlist some help from engineer John Travis.

'I wanted to be the main producer this time around, because I really knew exactly what I wanted to do," he says. 'I really wanted to strip things down and make the record raw and heavy sounding so that was why I insisted on being the lead producer.

"I chose John Travis to work with me because he's an awesome engineer and he's also a musician and has great ideas and mostly is just a really fun guy to hang out with and he drinks a lot and tells great jokes."

There will be no time for rest after the Australian tour wraps up — Static is ready to begin work on the band's next album.

"After the Australian tour we're gonna go home right away and start writing the next record," he says. "I plan on working very hard on that and hopefully we'll have the next record out in the middle of next year.

"I haven't actually written anything but I know exactly what I want to do. I have a lot of great ideas brewing in my head and I'm really looking forward to getting started on it, actually."

I think it sucks. Period. The most watered-down piece of sh** album the band has put out to date.
