The Ordher Signs To Unique Leader Records
Unique Leader Records has announced the signing of THE ORDHER from Brazil featuring members from past Brazilian metallers NEPHASTH and REBAELLIUN.
According to a press release, "memorable guitar riffing, furious precise drum attack with aggressive vocals, THE ORDHER is bound to be one of Brazil's future dominators in extreme metal." They are scheduled to record in the spring of 2007 for a summer 2007 release. You can check out an advanced recording of the song 'Rise' online here.
Scent of Flesh Post "One Holy Truth" MP3 Online
Finnish death metallers SCENT OF FLESH have posted a new song entitled "One Holy Truth" here. The track is expected to appear on the band's upcoming third full-length album, tentatively due in 2007.
SCENT OF FLESH previously released two full-length albums — "Roaring Depths of Insanity" (2003, Black Lotus) and "Valour in Hatred" (2004, Firebox) — plus a four-song EP, "Become Malignity" (2005, Firebox).
Danzig Charts On Classical Crossover Album Chart
Glenn Danzig - known primarily for his dark, hardcore punk/metal sound - finds himself with a Top 10 album two weeks running on Billboard's Classical Crossover Albums chart.
"Black Aria II" (evilive/October 17), the follow up to Danzig's 1993 "Black Aria," debuted last week at #8 on the chart and keeps a firm hold on the Top 10 coming in this week at #9. Danzig shares the Classical Crossover chart with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, John Williams, Yo-Yo Mah and Itzhak Perlman.
Produced, written and - with a couple of exceptions - performed by Glenn, "Black Aria II" employs thundering organ, otherworldly chants, operatic lamentations, poignant strings, ominous percussion, ritualistic chimes and other mysterious sounds to tell the tale of Lilith, the Biblical Adam's wife before Eve.
"The first 'Black Aria' is very Wagnerian, and also has these violent, Scottish-Celtic qualities," Danzig reflects. "This one is more Eastern, because it's about Lilith. It still has a lot of the classic elements I like, but many of the sounds come from elsewhere because of this fascinating story, which has its origins in even older myths and legends."
On November 17, Danzig will kick off a special west coast edition of the "Blackest of the Black" tour in Seattle. Headliner Danzig - Glenn Danzig/vocals, former Samhaim bandmate Steve Zing on bass, and Type O Negative's Johnny Kelly/drums and Kenny Hickey/guitar - will be joined by Lacuna Coil, The Haunted, Belphegor, and Asesino.
"'The Blackest of the Black' tour is for extreme bands that sell out venues across the country, that sell records, but don't get radio play or get on MTV," said Danzig. "It's anti the corporate crap nu-rap-metal that gets shoved down fans' throats at other concerts."

A Follow-up On Social Networks
MetalUnderground.com recently surpassed 1000 friends on MySpace. Thanks to everyone who has made us your MySpace friends. It's always interesting to put some faces to names.
While I'm talking about social networks and since I introduced Last.fm with MySpace previously, we'd still like to get more readers in our Metal Underground Last.fm group. Last.fm recently rolled out an upgraded site with a flash music player (so you don't need to install their player anymore), an event notification system (e.g. concerts), more social features, and free MP3 downloads, so if you haven't already, check them out.

On Dec. 13th, Sweden’s DREAM EVIL will make their first U.S. performance, when they headline the Century Family’s Third Annual Christmas Balls show at The Key Club in Hollywood. Tickets are on sale now. More performances will be announced in the coming weeks.
Peter Stalfors (bass) further conveys the band’s excitement over their first U.S. performance: “Ever since we released our first album, DragonSlayer, we hoped to have the opportunity to perform in the U.S. Over the years, we received tons of mails from fans all over North America, and now at last we have the opportunity to give at least some of you a chance to see us. We are really excited about this and look forward to see you at the Key Club in Los Angeles, when it's finally time to show the U.S. what we’ve got. We will play songs from our new album United, along with a ton of oldies as well, so we hope you are ready for a full-on metal onslaught.”
DREAM EVIL triumphantly returns with their fourth full-length album United, a ferocious larger-than-life assault that will leave anyone proudly screaming for vengeance. The group recently completed a new video for the album’s opening track, “Fire! Battle! In Metal!,” with renowned director Patric Ullaeus (Dimmu Borgir, Lacuna Coil). Just For Fun
Gears of War Video Remixed To Metallica's "One"
Microsoft has recently released a very artistic feeling promotional video (aka commerical) for Epic Games' Xbox 360 title, Gears of War. This has in turn triggered a rash of remixes - some better than others. In particular, I'd like to share the remix to Metallica's "One" (with additional video footage inserted). I'd say it's more fun to watch than half of the metal videos out today.
On a personal note, I don't mind pimping Gears of War a little because I used to work for Epic Games (it seems like a lifetime ago) and I know Cliffyb knows how to make a killer game. (Like you needed any reassurance after seeing the video...)

To support the lyrical concept several photos were used for the new layout. Each photo is linked to its specific lyrics, so that you should get an interesting view of this historical battleground. Manuel Tinnemans did the artwork for the cover of the picture disc.
