The Witch Plan March Release

Total Rock reports that The Witch, the band featuring Cold members Scooter Ward (vocals) and Scott McCandless (drums), are to release their debut, as yet untitled album in March. More details to follow.

Early this year, Scooter Ward announced that Cold was finished after disappointing sales performance of the band's fourth album, "A Different Kind of Pain," but later stated that "Cold will take a break" as he continues work on the Witch. "Cold will be back soon," Ward wrote. "This, for me, is the best of both worlds. The more music, the better."

Papa Roach To Tour w/ GNR, Headline Zippo Tour

LiveDaily.com report: Papa Roach ratchets up its support for its recently released album, "The Paramour Sessions," by opening a stretch of shows for resurgent rockers Guns N' Roses, and following that stint with a run atop the Zippo Hot Tour roster.

The Sacramento-based quartet, which is currently tackling a European tour, will link up with GN'R for that group's Oct. 20 tour kick-off in Jacksonville, FL, and will remain on board through the outing's Nov. 3 stop in Huntington, WV.

A short break follows before the band returns to the stage for the Nov. 11 launch of the Zippo Hot Tour, dates for which currently span a two-week stretch; details are shown below. Sponsored by Zippo Manufacturing Company, the tour's lineup will also feature the winner of an in-progress battle of the bands that Zippo has been conducting throughout the year.

"We are stoked to be headlining this year's Zippo Hot Tour," Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix said in statement. "When Zippo approached us about this opportunity we couldn't say no. Supporting local music scenes has always been a priority for us, and the fact that the Zippo Hot Tour gives a young local band an opportunity to have a career in the music business is amazing."

More information about the Zippo Tour--including details about the bands vying for the opening slot--is available at the tour's official website.

Capping off Papa Roach's current itinerary is a Dec. 8 hometown performance at Sacramento radio station KWOD's Twisted Xmas concert. Details about that gig, which will also include performances from My Chemical Romance and Gnarls Barkley, are available at KWOD's website.

Last month, Papa Roach offered up "The Paramour Sessions." The disc, which is the band's fifth full-length album, features the lead-off single "To Be Loved," the music video for which is streaming at the band's website.

Jonathan Davis Does Solo Outing

For the first time since Korn formed almost 15 years ago, Jonathan Davis is hitting the road without his core band. Instead, the Davis tour launching in February will feature the singer performing alongside the four musicians who backed Korn on tour this year. The backing musicians performed guitar, piano, backup vocals and percussion.

"I'm gonna do it more in the style of a lounge thing," Davis said Monday. "I'll be playing Korn songs, the 'Queen of the Damned' [soundtrack] stuff I did and a lot of different covers. When I was growing up, my dad played in a couple of bands where they just went around different clubs and played covers. It's just going to be fun."

Although he's venturing outside of Korn for the tour, Davis says he has no plans for a solo album.

"The closest thing [I've done to a solo album] was the 'Queen of the Damned' stuff and if I were to [record something solo] again, it'd be something like that," Davis said. "Maybe some day when it's right, but I don't want to distract from Korn. I don't want people to think there's problems with the band. I'm just trying to have fun while the other guys are relaxing or working on their own records or whatever."

Things are so good with Korn, in fact, the band is already jumping back in the studio to work on its eighth proper album.

"We start today," Davis said. "We're just going to be riffing out and compiling ideas. Whenever we came off the road, we went right into the studio, so we have six or seven songs done and we're going to work on some more."

Once enough songs are written, Korn will take them to the Matrix or Atticus Ross, the producers behind last year's See You on the Other Side.

"It's really aggressive, just weird sounds," Davis said of the songs that have been worked on so far. "It's hard to tell right now 'cause they're in demo form, but the overall vibe is it's a lot heavier. It's not See You on the Other Side Part 2."

Diecast Frontman Comments On Upcoming Tour

DIECAST will be teaming up with genre legends Sepultura for a massive five-week tour this fall, which will be the group’s first national U.S. tour in support of their highly acclaimed new album Internal Revolution. This will be preceded by a string of dates with labelmates God Forbid and A Life Once Lost on the East Coast. (See tour section for the itinerary.) The group’s stunning first single, “Fade Away,” impacted Active Rock radio this week; look for a video for the track, shot by acclaimed director David Brodsky (God Forbid, GWAR, The Red Chord), to make its MTV2 debut later this month.

Paul Stoddard (vocals) further conveys his excitement over the band’s recent and upcoming activity: “It was great to finally do some shows again. The Nonpoint guys were great to us, and their fans were amazing. All the fans were open-minded to something a little different, gave us a chance and loved us. I also got to finally see the response to the new record in person from our fans. You people learn lyrics fast! If we didn't make it your way, just wait a little while. We are ready to tour and we don't want to stop!

“We have a few dates coming up with God Forbid and A Life Once Lost, and then we go out for five weeks with Sepultura. What an honor that will be. Arise was one of the first CDs I ever bought, and now I'll get to share the stage with them. It's gonna be nuts! Thanks again to everyone for buying the record, spreading the word about us, and all the continued e-mails and support. I can't wait to chill at the bar with everyone soon.”

Skid Row Bassist Says They Won't Play w/ Seb Again

In an in-depth interview Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan said the following:

What initially prompted the band to begin playing again?

Rachel: "We missed our fans. We kept getting a lot of e-mails about how people wish we would get back together so they could see us. But we knew when we got back together, we knew we were gonna get a new singer because we had already parted ways with Sebastian [Bach]. We didn't wanna go through that again because it was a marriage that just didn't work and that's all there is to it, ya know? It was a love of the music and a love of playing live. We wanted to create more music as SKID ROW."

At what point did you realize things really weren't working out with Sebastian? Was there a clear defining moment?

Rachel: "For me, it was probably after the first record at some point...once we started to get really popular. We went in to do 'Slave to the Grind' and it came out good and all that, but I think it was in the midst of that tour that the tension really began. We went into it as a band and all of a sudden it became a band and a front guy. If someone brings stuff to the table, that's one thing... if they can back up what they say. But if someone tries to take credit for something they didn't do... that's kinda weird. I would never do that and neither would any of the other guys. But you know what I always say...there's always plenty of rock 'n' roll to go around. He's out doin' his thing and we're doin' our thing and we're happier this way."

So there's absolutely no chance there will ever be a reunion with Sebastian?

Rachel: "No. There's no point in doin' it, ya know? We're happy doin' what we do. We're not gonna jeopardize what we've got goin' on now just so people can say they saw the SKID ROW reunion. It's just not worth it to us. Nostalgia is cool, ya know? We've got our core fan base from back in the day, but we've got new fans too. It's just one of those things where we've moved on. To look back or to go back would be just ridiculous."

Elis Completes "Griefshire" After Sabine's Death

The band writes: "The new ELIS album 'Griefshire' is finished. The tragic death of frontlady Sabine Dünser in the middle of the album production was a great shock for everybody. The decision of the band to finish the album and to dignify the last musical work of Sabine illuminates the concept album in a very special way."

Producer Alex Krull: "There were very emotional moments when the album was finished. Certainly the result of the album is the biggest musical achievement of the band ELIS and I'm 100% sure that Sabine would have been very pleased and proud of "Griefshire". It was the right decision to continue and to fullfill the work in the way Sabine would have wanted it. After the death of such a good friend it was not easy to go on. During the final mix and listening through her vocaltracks it always came into my mind: this record will be finished without her further input. It was very important for me to do the best possible job just the way Sabine would have liked it. We worked together since the beginning of her career as a rocksinger, so I know very well what her musicals needs were. Although these tragic circumstances I hope that all fans and friends will enjoy the new ELIS album and Sabine's vision of a conceptalbum made like a kind of Rockmusical. It would have been Sabine's biggest wish. I wish ELIS, who want to continue as a band, to find a dignified successor very soon."

ELIS - Griefshire

01. Tales From Heaven Or Hell
02. Die Stadt
03. Show Me The Way
04. Brothers
05. Seit Dem Anbeginn Der Zeit
06. Remember The Promise
07. Phoenix From The Ashes
08. How Long (different version on digipak)
09. Innocent Hearts
10. Forgotten Love
11. The Burning
12. A New Decade
13. Heaven And Hell (digipak bonustrack)

The CD will be available as Jewel-Case and as limited Digipak. Release date will be the 24. November for Europe and the 16. January for the US.

RevCo's Owen Reveals New Project Snow Black

The Revolting Cocks’ Phildo Owen announced today that he will be unveiling his new project Snow Black in Texas this month on a string of dates alongside industrial rock pioneers KMFDM.

Joining him for the 5-date tour are bassist Paul Raven (Ministry/Killing Joke), guitarist SIN (Revolting Cocks) and drummer Mark Dufour (Skrew).

“It’s truly exciting to finally unleash the beast that is Snow Black on the masses,” says Owen of the upcoming shows.

“Snow Black is a chance for us to forget the bullshit & just get down and greasy while pounding out ass-shaking grooves!” comments Paul Raven, a veteran of the industrial scene best known for his time with industrial post-punk act Killing Joke as well as thrash/alt. metal act Prong and, most recently, Ministry.

“I can’t wait to get out there and terrorize Texas with my very good friends and partners in crime Phildo, Raven and Mark!” adds Revolting Cocks guitarist SIN.

Snow Black is Owen’s latest project since his return from this summer’s 60-date North American MasterBaTour 2006 (featuring Ministry & The Revolting Cocks). He has since been in the studio putting the finishing touches on Snow Black’s debut album entitled The Suggestion of Power.

Set for early 2007 release, The Suggestion of Power is a collection of 9 blistering industrial tracks layered with killer samples and Owen’s trademark raw, gritty vocals; an electronic assault on the senses, the message is simple, yet urgent- it is Owen at his finest, weaving a dark and brooding lyrical web of tongue-in-cheek idioms to reflect the socio-political complexities permeating American culture.

The album, produced by Owen, also features a contribution from industrial mastermind Buck Satan (Al Jourgensen) on the first single ‘Stick It In’; the two first collaborated in 1990 when Owen lent his vocals to the title track of RevCo’s raucous Beers, Steers & Queers album.

Four tracks from Snow Black's upcoming debut full-length are now available for fans exclusively via the band’s myspace site at: www.myspace.com/snowblack

Snow Black tour dates w/ KMFDM:
Oct. 18 Houston, TX - The Meridian
Oct. 19 Austin, TX - Emo’s
Oct. 20 Ft. Worth, TX - Ridglea Theater
Oct. 21 San Antonio, TX - White Rabbit
