Unearthly Trance Prepares New Releases

New York City trio Unearthly Trance have scheduled several vinyl-only releases for the coming months.

The first of the forthcoming records is a live 7" entitled I am The Cosmos, I am the Wind. I am The Cosmos... features the live tracks "Mass of The Phoenix" and "Deathothic" and will be released in a limited edition, one-time pressing of 500 copies on Elephant Graveyard Recordings.

Following I am The Cosmos... will be The Axis Is Shifting 10". This 10" vinyl release will feature new recordings of two older Unearthly Trance tracks "Oceans Expand" and "Branches of Anti-Gravity" (original released on the band’s Nuit demo) and will be issued in an edition of 300 copies by Brooklyn's BananaHammock Records.

Additionally, Unearthly Trance will pair up with new Relapse signings Minsk for a split 7" comprised of Roky Erickson covers to be issued on Parasitic Records. These limited edition 7”s will feature artwork from Unearthly Trance guitarist/vocalist Ryan Lipynsky.

Unearthly Trance recently finished a run of U.S. dates and are currently writing material for the follow-up album to their Relapse Records debut, The Trident. The trio will also be contributing their cover of "Shinobi" to the forthcoming Eyehategod tribute planned by Emetic Records.

Chimaira Signs To Ferret Music

Chimaira's recent record deal with Ferret Music is now official. Ferret will release the Cleveland, OH band's upcoming album in North America, while Nuclear Blast Records will release the effort elsewhere. Here's a statement from the group:

"Well it's official! We've wrapped things up and signed two record deals! The first one being with Ferret Music for our home turf North America. We have known the guys over at Ferret for many years and they are great friends. We look forward to building off that friendship and making great records together. We knew we wanted to sign to Ferret right away and it was a great feeling to hear they felt the same way about Chimaira. They have a vision for this band that just blows us away, and we feel very fortunate to finally be working with a team that understands us.

For our friends outside of the US, we have linked up with Nuclear Blast. We met these guys on the European Sounds Of The Underground tour and were so thrilled to learn that they too were big of fans of Chimaira. They had this hunger in their eyes that showed us they were going to sign Chimaira if it was the last thing they did. That made us feel incredible. Not to mention the owner promised us his Porsche if we signed...we are holding you to that Marc! On a serious note, both Nuclear and Ferret have great ideas to deliver some killer goods to the fans.

Things have never felt as good for us as they do right now, and it's due in part to the killer music we're creating, plus the faith and enthusiasm we're seeing from the awesome group of guys over there at the labels. Chimaira still has an abundance of life and creativity flowing through our veins, and this new chapter in our lives may prove to be our greatest. The band is currently in the studio preparing to record their new album, "Resurrection," which will hit streets in Spring 2007.

Blood Red Throne Finishing Up New Material

Norwegian death metal juggernauts, BLOOD RED THRONE are fervently working to complete laying out material for their assuredly gore laden forthcoming Earache release. BLOOD RED THRONE have welcomed new vocalist Vlad and drummer, Anders Haave, who will be joining BLOOD RED THRONE to record their forthcoming album. This album will mark the bands’ fourth studio release and is slated for pre-production in late October, with final recording scheduled for December. During a now infamous tour run with MORTICIAN, BLOOD RED THRONE vocalist Vlad was commissioned to take over for Will Rhamer (MORTICIAN front man) after being arrested mid-tour, and was joined by fellow Earache artist Jason Mendonca from AKERCOCKE. BLOOD RED THRONE’S latest Earache release, “Altered Genesis” can be found on the Earache US and UK web store and expect a new slaughtering from BLOOD RED THRONE in early 2007.

Avenged Sevenfold Talk About New Album

Avenged Sevenfold recently spoke to MTV about the work on their next album. The band recently cancelled their UK tour to concentrate on the record.

As for the cancellation, frontman M.Shadows explained:

"We've been touring on this record for 16 months now, and we're like, 'Enough's enough.' We were kind of going through the motions for a while, playing the same songs, so we were like, 'We need to write some new stuff."

Shadows has high aspirations for the record as well:

"The last thing we're going to do is write City of Evil part 2 or Waking the Fallen part 2, It's not going to be a thrash record or old-school or anything like that. I know it's going to be a sound that no one's heard — kind of like when Korn came out, they were the first ones to start that whole scene and they sounded different than everybody. We want to do that for our own generation. [...] It's just going to be gritty, We want it to be a cool record, not some polished crap just 'cause we've got a couple songs on the radio now."

The band released two albums on indie Hopeless Records before releasing City Of Evil on Warner.

Tool Headlining On First Big Day Out Lineup

The tour we've all been gossiping about for years has finally been confirmed. Tool has announced that they will headline next years Big Day Out Festival. For once the rumours seemed somewhat justified this year when the band played an extremely minimal amount of shows in Australia and New Zealand in support of their newest album 10,000 Days, despite staggeringly high record sales, nation-wide.
