Avenged Sevenfold Talk About New Album

Avenged Sevenfold recently spoke to MTV about the work on their next album. The band recently cancelled their UK tour to concentrate on the record.
As for the cancellation, frontman M.Shadows explained:
"We've been touring on this record for 16 months now, and we're like, 'Enough's enough.' We were kind of going through the motions for a while, playing the same songs, so we were like, 'We need to write some new stuff."
Shadows has high aspirations for the record as well:
"The last thing we're going to do is write City of Evil part 2 or Waking the Fallen part 2, It's not going to be a thrash record or old-school or anything like that. I know it's going to be a sound that no one's heard — kind of like when Korn came out, they were the first ones to start that whole scene and they sounded different than everybody. We want to do that for our own generation. [...] It's just going to be gritty, We want it to be a cool record, not some polished crap just 'cause we've got a couple songs on the radio now."
The band released two albums on indie Hopeless Records before releasing City Of Evil on Warner.

As for drumming the drummer in my last band was one of the best I have ever seen! Definitely a better drummer than this guy. You can not say that this guy is the best because he's not. There are so many more talented musicians out there. Take a look at all kinds of music. I think you're just looking at the mainstream stuff and thinking that that's it. It's just the surface. 1. i play guitar and am pretty damn good, idk if im as good as zacky or sinister because ive never personally jammed with them.
2. you dont have to play an instrament just to make an informed opinion on style, quality or skill. yes those who play an instrament may be able to provide additional insight, but in the end its all a matter of opinion.
3. can you play guitar? if not then by your standards you have no right to judge them or defend them until you are as good as they are(im referring to you a7x expert).
4. almost every guitar player at that level is more than competent with their axe.
now with that out of the way, i will now pick apart their music (because after all, thats what this forum is all about). i am not a fan of a7x for a number of reasons. first, i dont like their music. its not my style. mainly because (i know im going to get bashed here) its mostly unorigional. yes the guitar players can shred, congradulations, EVERY signed metal guitarist can shred. its part of the pre-requisit to being in a metal band. and all that guitar talent is irrelevent if the music sucks. ive listened to most of the songs on city of evil, and to be honest, they all sound the same. their guitar tone sounds nintendo-ish and most of their solos are mere gnr knock-offs. the vocals are f***ing god-awful, they are just too damn whiney and talentless. the lyrics are also poorly written and uninspiring. finally, (this is just more sh** in the sewer) their album artwork is lame. the second reason why i dont like them is because of their image. the whole emo/goth=dull pre-teen. the last reason i dont them is because they call themselves metal and most of their fans worship them as metal gods, when in all actuality, their music style resembles NOTHING metal. they are mainstream/emo/alternative rock at best. but hey, this is just my opinion.

I do not know if I even should say this, but, everyone who knows jack sh** about drums and drumming should know of the arguably best drummer of all time. We know him as the immortal Buddy Rich. Most of you crack pipe metal heads most likely do not know of this unreal drummer. But maybe it is better that way..... You could also say that Neil Peart of Rush is pretty phenomonal, but it isn't metal. It's better. Oh, by the way, feel free to cuss me out and say what ever your little minds can come up with. Please... I don't want to argue with you. Please, Please, Please listen to some historically good music, not just new stuff. Start with Black Sabbath's first album. You can go to www.wikipedia.com and do a search for "heavy metal", "heavy metal timeline", "heavy metal genres" and you can learn everything you need to know about historically good metal music there. I'm sure there are alot of METAL bands you like listed there. This is a metal site so, don't get offended.
MAN! And you gotta listen to Pantera's Cowboys from Hell Album and Vulgar Display of power, even non-metal heads like that music. If you don't like Metallica I understand... they aren't what they used to be, but their first 3 albums were good.
If you're not into the heavy heavy then Slayer isn't really your cookie... personally I like slayer's music because they are intense & pure with their formula. You won't see them crying about girls.
There is nothing wrong with the stuff that you like, except that I notice it is all recent artists. If it is the image that you're into then that is fine, but if you like music then might I suggest broadening your horizons a bit.
If I were going to suggest some bands to listen to I'd suggest:
Deep Purple
Black Sabbath
Led Zepplin
(there are a bunch of 70s bands that are good)
Iron Maiden (you might like it)
Megadeath (you probably won't like it)
Metallica's old stuff
Pantera

If you aren't into metal, that's cool, but I guarantee you won't say Slayer sucks to a fan's face without at least thinking twice because they might actually snap. The truth is... I'm sure millions of people think that Slayer sucks, but they'll keep there goddamn mouth's shut in person... because it's f***ing scary. Even a little girl won't be scared to say A7X sucks because they put out music that is less intense.... period.
Music is powerful. Metal is one of the most (if not the most) intense genres of music out there.
Intense does not equal good. But niether does catering to a bunch of highschool kids to make money.
It is suppose to be about the music, and there is only one way to test music... and that is with time. We'll see how long A7X lasts... either way... they aren't metal and don't belong on headbanger's ball or this site.
People don't really hate A7X... they hate that they think (and people think) that they are metal.
You see... Metalheads don't have alot of room in society Rev.... we can't even have our own f***ing show without some pop band taking up time, or our own goddamned metal site for that matter. It is f***ing annoying. That is why people hate this band, and that is what they mean when they say that they are ruining the metal genre.
