Chris Cornell Hit By A Truck
Audioslave front-man Chris Cornell was recently hit by a truck while riding his motorcycle in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Cornell escaped serious injury, however his $50,000 bike was not so lucky. According to PageSix.com, later that day he was in the studio working on his new solo album.

From First To Last Kicked Off Atreyu Tour
From First To Last have posted the following message:
"We regret to inform you (the fans) that we have been "kicked" off tour."
"We did everything possible to stay on this tour. Sonny would not have been able to sing due to a tear in his vocal chord, but would have been onstage playing guitar while Craig, of Chiodos, would handle singing duties for the remainder of the tour. Our plan to enable us to play the rest of the tour was disregarded and as our crew was setting up for the show in Worcester, MA we were informed that we were being kicked off of the tour."
"Understand that it was not our choice to leave this tour... we were forced to leave. Once again we apologize... to you (the fans)... to everyone who bought a ticket to see us play... to the KVLT... if we were allowed to be on the rest of this tour we would be."
From First To Last previously cancelled their Philadelphia appearance at the last minute. This cancellation and the need for fill-ins on vocals was due to Sonny's two vocal chord surgeries - where they cut your vocal chords very slightly in order to smooth them out and have them be a 100%. The surgery requires a lot of rest and soldiering through the tour was not working.
Manegarm Finish Recording New Album
Swedish Viking metal act MÅNEGARM has issued the following update:
"After three weeks in Studio Underground, we're finally finished with our new album 'Vargstenen' (The Wolfstone). Everything has gone very well although it has been three hectic weeks. We have been working really hard, 14-15 hours a day, just to get everything in place…
"Anyway, we are really, really satisfied with the album recording. The songs that we have recorded feel great and Pelle Saether has, as always, done a fantastic job with the sound and with the mix. We all think that the production is the best ever and we are totally convinced, and we hope that we can convince the rest of you, that this is going to be the best MÅNEGARM album we have released so far.
"Our new album, 'Vargstenen', is expected to be released somewhere around March/April 2007 so make sure to keep your eyes open, it's going to be something really special!!!"
"Vargstenen" projected track listing:
01. Uppvaknande-Ur själslig död
02. Minnen-En fallen fader
03. Den gamle talar (accoustic)
04. Genom världar nio
05. Visioner på isen
06. Vargbrodern talar (accoustic)
07. I underjorden
08. Nio dagar, nio nätter
09. Vargstenen
10. Vedergällningens tid
11. TBA (accoustic)
The upcoming CD will be MÅNEGARM's first for Black Lodge Records after a ten-year collaboration with Displeased Records. An early 2007 release is expected.
Dimmu Borgir Recording New Album
Norwegian symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir have entered Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström to begin recording their new album for an early 2007 release via Nuclear Blast Records. Guitarist Silenoz issued the following statement:
"So, just to let you know, everything moves along nicely in the studio, perhaps a bit too well?? With past studio ghost experiences in mind, something is just bound to happen? I'm sure of it. Well, apart from being the typical pessimist, at least it didn't take us too long to get all the basic rhythm guitar tracks down and even better - it sounds awesome! A fat and razor-sharp tone, without compromise, hitting you right between the eyes! Proper equipment, Engl amps, ESP guitars and Seymour Duncan pickups make things hell of a lot easier, I say. Leads/solos and acoustic/clean guitars will be laid down later when everything else is ready. Bass and keys are up next. We expect it to sound nothing less than grandiose once this beast is finished. Oh, yeah, almost forgot, we have the album title as well, but we're not gonna announce it until the time is right!"
Stuck Mojo Post Another New Song Online
Atlanta-based rap-metal pioneers STUCK MOJO, who recently announced the addition of vocalist Lord Nelson to the group's lineup, have posted another new track, entitled "Metal is Dead", on their MySpace page. Also available at the same location is the song "That's When I Burn".
STUCK MOJO mainman/guitarist Rich Ward recently had the following to say about the recording sessions for the band's new album, "Southern Born Killers":
"We have re-cut the whole record with [Lord Nelson]. I am now in the process of re-tracking some guitars, as well as making some changes in the arrangements of some of the songs. Instead of just 'throwing' Lord Nelson's vocals on the existing tracks, I've reworked the songs around his vocal delivery. Some songs have gone under huge changes and others have stayed pretty true to the original home demos. Three more days of tracking and then I'll start mixing.
"Not everyone is going to like it and that is fair enough. Although, it has been nice to get so much much positive feedback and Lord Nelson has been real encouraged by all the support. After spending so much time on this record, it's nice to get a little 'love.'" More...

Dio And Iommi's Collaboration Isn't Black Sabbath
A spokesperson for Ozzy Osbourne has issued a statement regarding the reports that current Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward will be hooking up with post-Ozzy ex-Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio for a tour and possible album under the name Heaven And Hell:
"Tony Iommi and Ronnie Dio are working on a project together which has nothing to do with BLACK SABBATH. There is only one BLACK SABBATH. Ozzy, Tony, Geezer and Bill will be touring late next year along with a new BLACK SABBATH album. However, Ozzy wishes Tony and Ronnie much success in their project together."
Ronnie James Dio recently spent time in the U.K. "kicking around ideas" with Tony Iommi for a couple of new tracks to be included on SABBATH's forthcoming box set, "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years".
"These are two things you'll never hear again — two new songs," Ronnie said in an August 16, 2006 appearance on the syndicated radio show "Rockline". "We are going to do that. It's been fun already. The one we've done — the one that I've done with Tony has been really wonderful — just great to realize how magnificent a player he was. You forget that after 10 years at a time that you don't work with someone. So we are gonna be doing that. And I hope you'll like it. I think it'll be great."

Rob Zombie Talks In Depth About Halloween Remake
Rob Zombie talked in depth with MTV about his involvement in the Halloween remake and the horror genre. Here is an excerpt that updates fans on the status of the film, but there is so much more in the article.
"with a script and timetable in place, Zombie is now moving on to casting and location scouting. "We're right at the beginning of when this all begins," he said. Of course, "this" refers to much more than moviemaking. It also means scrutiny and debate from a legion of hard-core horror fans. It means the watchful eyes of a studio hoping that a blockbuster can be reborn. And for Zombie, it means satisfying both of those ends while also making sure not to suck. Or, as the man himself concluded, "You have to completely reinvent the wheel, but keep the people that love the original wheel thrilled. It's a tricky balancing act, but I think it's totally doable."

Chthonic Frontman To Appear On CMJ Metal Panel
Vocalist and lyricist Freddy of the Taiwanese symphonic black metal band Chthonic will appear on the “From Glam to Death: Metal Subgenre Feasts” panel at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in New York City.
The panel will be held at 3:45 p.m. on November 3 at Lincoln Center's Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse on the 10th Floor of the Samuel B. & David Rose Building, Lincoln Center, 165 W. 65th Street (at Amsterdam Avenue).
Freddy will be joined by Justin Brannan, guitarist for Most Precious Blood; Jamie Foster, lead singer for Arc of Descent; Jimmy Pallis, lead singer for Anaka; and Trevor Phipps, lead singer for Unearth.
The hour-long panel will provide an open forum for top artists and experts specializing in different types of heavy metal. The discussion will include the realities of having a niche fanbase versus trying to appeal to more mainstream audience, the best ways to get media exposure, and the risks and rewards of being identified with a metal subgenre.
Chthonic, Taiwan’s biggest metal export, released its fourth album, “Seediq Bale,” on October 3 through Down Port Music.
Deemed the “the Black Sabbath of Asia” by the Taipei Times for its huge impact as a metal band in Taiwan, Chthonic plays black metal with an ethnic flair. “Seediq Bale” tells the Taiwanese legend of the Seediq people and their strife and struggles against the Japanese. The use of an er-hu, a unique Asian two-string violin, brings an additional element of sadness to Chthonic’s eerie music.
Chthonic was awarded “Best Rock Group” at the 14th Annual Golden Melody Awards, the Eastern Asian equivalent of a Grammy. The award was presented to the band by none other than the country’s President Chen Shui-bian. “Music is more powerful, more moving than politicians,” the President said before the band joined him on stage.

Vinnie Paul Is Recovering
Mike Devlin of Victoria, British Columbia's Times Colonist reports:
Vinnie Paul, legendary drummer for metal gods PANTERA and, later, DAMAGEPLAN, has resumed his position behind his drum kit and is on the road to emotional recovery following a disastrous 2004.
In December of that year, Paul's brother and longtime band mate, Dimebag Darrell, was shot and killed on stage during a Columbus, Ohio, DAMAGEPLAN concert.
It took Paul more than a year to recover from the horror of the incident.
"Things are different now, and that's the way I have to look at it, otherwise it is depressing and hard to try to live," says Paul, a native of Dallas, Tex.
"The most important thing for me to do is keep kicking ass because that's what he wants me to do."
Among his many new creative pursuits is a custom Pearl drum kit bearing his signature.

Ted Nugent To Lecture For University of Wisconsin
AOL Music [humorously] reports: The University of Wisconsin at Madison signed on Ted Nugent to deliver a lecture entitled 'God, Guns and Rock 'n' Roll.'
The Nuge will roll into the hotbed of liberalism Wednesday to regale students with tales about how the good Lord blessed him with the ability to fell most of the creatures that inhabited Noah's Ark with a single shot -- and then cook 'em up in a zesty mango salsa.
We're fairly certain that Ted's homily will unfold along the same lines as the one he preached to the National Rifle Association, where he explained that "I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release." After that kind of testifying, we can hardly imagine having the energy to pick up our hymnals, but if we didn't join Ted in a chorus or two of 'Wang Dang, Sweet Poontang,' he'd probably encourage God -- or someone with a gun -- to smite us.
