Vinnie Paul Is Recovering

Band Photo: Damageplan (?)
Mike Devlin of Victoria, British Columbia's Times Colonist reports:
Vinnie Paul, legendary drummer for metal gods PANTERA and, later, DAMAGEPLAN, has resumed his position behind his drum kit and is on the road to emotional recovery following a disastrous 2004.
In December of that year, Paul's brother and longtime band mate, Dimebag Darrell, was shot and killed on stage during a Columbus, Ohio, DAMAGEPLAN concert.
It took Paul more than a year to recover from the horror of the incident.
"Things are different now, and that's the way I have to look at it, otherwise it is depressing and hard to try to live," says Paul, a native of Dallas, Tex.
"The most important thing for me to do is keep kicking ass because that's what he wants me to do."
Among his many new creative pursuits is a custom Pearl drum kit bearing his signature.

I think he might be better off joining an established band. Testament perhaps? I think their original "reunion" lineup might be temporary. Testament has already employed three out of my top four metal drummers. Paul, Dave, and Gene Gene the dancing machine. Vinny would round out the four. Killer Testament lineup, (at least in a studio): Chunk Billy, Steve DiGiorgio, Eric Peterson, James Murphy, and Vinny Paul.

Hey Stabbing the Drama... If you were a fan of Pantera you would know that "F*ck you we're from Texas" was a shirt/slogan of the Pantera crew. And who knows..? This is a popular site. Vinny could be reading all these comments. So if anything, know your metal and F- off. You are not a metalhead. Your post proves it.

It's just a website buddy. Relax. Every one of your posts in this thread involves you screaming and calling people names. You should have just said, "Oh, I had no idea." I live in California, and that slogan is all over the Pantera videos, which I thought was required viewing if you enjoy metal. In all cases, BlackDog is the most correct in this thread. Although I must say, you still don't know your metal.

LOL You're right Terminator! But this is the first time I've ever talked to efleming. And ya know what efleming, you're right I don't know my metal. I've never seen one of those shirts and I don't know sh** about metal. You're right. And my post proves it. hahaha. This argument is over

You are absolutley right. I don't know anything about you. One man's favorite band is another's least favorite. And living in Chicago exposes people to different music than people in California would see. And vice versa. Agreed? By the way, personally I like Opeth. Blackwater Park is an album that anyone who knows his metal should like. Haha. Just kidding.

27. writes:
Yeah I'll agree with that man. I don't completely hate Opeth and I own that album along with Deliverance and Ghost Reveries and I've seen them live twice. My favorite song of theres though is For Absent Minds, I like the bluesy kind of guitar work in it. So yeah.

Former PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul has confirmed that his new band has been officially dubbed HELL YEAH. The lineup also features Chad Gray (MUDVAYNE) on vocals, Greg Tribbett (Mudvayne) on guitar, Tom Maxwell (NOTHINGFACE) on guitar, Jerry Montano (DANZIG, Nothingface, The Deadlights) on bass.

Good for him! I'm glad he's getting back behind the kit! I wonder if he'll start up a new project or what?
