Spinner is running a top 20 of "Worst Band Fueds," of which hard rock and metal bands make several appearances including:

Marilyn Manson vs. My Chemical Romance (18)
Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. Mr. Bungle (15)
Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam (14)
Dwarves vs. QOTSA (13)
Metallica vs. Megadeth (4)

Of course the list is topped primarily by rappers, but I don't recall when individual rappers constituted a "band."

New Biomechanical Bassist Speaks

Following the completion of their eagerly anticipated new album "Cannibalised", UK metallers BIOMECHANICAL have confirmed a fresh lineup with the exciting addition of ex-DRAGONFORCE bass player Adrian Lambert.

Commented frontman John K: "It's no secret that it's a bit of a bitch to find good bass players and I was thrilled when Adrian contacted me. I also had people from Europe and the UK applying for the job and some of them were of very high standards. But after checking Adrian's playing I realized the logical next step would be to welcome him to the band!"

Adrian, who played bass on the last two DRAGONFORCE albums, has a fast and furious bass style that matches BIOMECHANICAL perfectly and he appears equally thrilled about joining the band at this stage. He states: "It's really exciting to be playing with a world-class act like BIOMECHANICAL. I've been into the band since I got 'The Empires of the Worlds' album back when I was still playing in DRAGONFORCE, so it's quite incredible for me to be playing with BIOMECHANICAL now. John K's assembled an insanely talented new lineup — he's had to get the best because of the complexity and scope of the new album 'Cannibalised'."

Commenting further on the band's third album, which is set for a February 2008 release date, Adrian states: 'You've got the bombastic film score stuff, you've got the crushing extreme metal riffs and solos... Hell, you've even got some heart-breaking vocal melodies in there as well as John's trademark screams! I think there's more of a groove to this album than 'Eight Moons' and 'Empires....' but it's also even more extreme and brutal than previous releases. I feel that BIOMECHANICAL are breaking a lot of boundaries with 'Cannibalised' and I'm proud to be a part of the team taking this album out on the road'.

Sworn Enemy Set To Release New Album

Official press release:

Sworn Enemy have returned with a scathing new assault, "Maniacal," that is unquestionably their most impressive and destructive release yet. Featuring a newly reinvigorated lineup and new home at Century Media Records, this 10-track offering takes the group's sound to new heights, which sees them embracing a thrashier edge and pummeling the listener with unrivaled aggression times reminiscent of thrash titans like Exodus and Testament, as well as early Megadeth and Anthrax. Set for a February 2008 release, "Maniacal" was co-produced by As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis and Life of Agony guitarist Joey Z, with Daniel Castleman (Winds Of Plague) handling all mixing duties.

The band's dynamic guitar tandem, composed of founding member Lorenzo Antonucci and Jamin Hunt, will definitely catch people's attention with their jaw-dropping dual-guitar shredding, while vocalist Sal LoCoco delivers his most angst ridden performance yet. However, the most notable addition to the fold for this recording has to be the highly acclaimed Jordan Mancino (As I Lay Dying), who plays drums on all of the album's tracks. As a fan and friend of the band, Jordan was excited to be a part of this project and his playing laid down a perfect foundation that took the album to another level.

Antonucci further comments: "Our new record is by far our best and thrashiest work yet. These songs are meant to be played live. We're glad things worked out with getting Jordan to play drums on the album, which was huge for us. It was also a blast working with Tim and Joey, as they both had great ideas and brought out the best in us. We can't thank them enough. All of us together created an unbelievable fucking monster.

"We are now with the Century Media and very excited about the future of the band, because this label is what we've been missing throughout our career. Now we feel unstoppable, and will keep pounding city by city. We're focused on changing the way people perceived us in the past, and convincing them that Sworn Enemy is a real band with the right attitude. Maniacal is the proof of that."

Throw all your preconceived notions out the window, because this is an all new Sworn Enemy, determined to carve out their own unique new path within the metal genre. The group kicks off a European tour with Agnostic Front and Evergreen Terrace next month, which will be followed by the Persistence Tour (featuring Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Ignite). Look for Sworn Enemy back on tour throughout the U.S. early next year.

Ministry, A7X And More To Be On Saw 4 Soundtrack

MINISTRY, SIXX: A.M., DROWNING POOL, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, EVERY TIME I DIE, THE RED CHORD and FUELED BY FIRE are among the bands that are featured on the "Saw IV" original soundtrack, due on October 23 via on Artists' Addiction Records (an extended digital release will follow in November).

"When we were choosing songs for the 'Saw IV' soundtrack, we asked ourselves, 'What kind of music would the 'Saw' characters Jigsaw and Amanda listen to?'" reveals Jonathan Scott Miller, principal of Artists' Addiction Records. Miller served as soundtrack producer alongside Artists' Addiction principals Jonathan Platt and Jonathan McHugh ("Saw IV" producers Oren Koules and Mark Burg are executive soundtrack producers).

Aside from occupying a certain punishing position on the sonic spectrum, many of these acts also have in common an abiding love for all things "Saw". Attests Miller: "A lot of these artists are huge fans of the franchise, and their music really relates to it." He points out that SOLIDIUM ("Trapped") are also devotees of modern horror films in general and that OXYGEN is so enamored of the "Saw" series that their contribution to "Saw IV" original soundtrack, "Do You Want to Play a Game", takes its title and thematic thrust directly from the films. Moreover, "Saw IV" original soundtrack is itself an "inspired by" collection. Aside from "Just Begun", an excerpt form Charlie Clouser's score, the songs comprising this companion piece are not heard in the film; instead, their selection was inspired by the film.

Megadeth's "Warchest" Delayed By A Week

MEGADETH's "Warchest" 4-CD+DVD collection has had its release date pushed back to October 9 from the previously announced October 2. No reason was given for the delay.

"Warchest" (Capitol/EMI) features more than six hours of digitally remastered content, hand-selected by Dave Mustaine, including 30 audio and video tracks making their global release debuts, and an additional three tracks that have never before been released in the U.S. "Warchest"'s release caps Mustaine and Capitol/EMI's in-depth MEGADETH catalog remastering and restoration campaign, which has encompassed the band's Capitol studio albums, while also adding new audio and video collections to the band's arsenal.

Armed with digitally remastered career-defining album cuts, soundtrack and compilation sides, unreleased live and studio performances and interview clips spanning more than 20 years, "Warchest" is the ultimate MEGADETH compendium. Included in the trove are a full 75-minute live set from a night on the 1990 "Clash of the Titans" tour and a DVD of highlights from a 1992 stop supporting "Countdown To Extinction" — two historical shows, both making their release debuts on "Warchest". The set's custom "vac-u-form" packaging showcases a 3-D ammo belt on its front and a 36-page booklet with an essay by Ian Christe and a comprehensive discography, complemented by an array of photos and images.

Dave Mustaine says, "This is, by far, the best and most comprehensive look at all-things-MEGA if you had to get a crash-course in metal! With some of the most famous, and infamous, shows and any of the fluid, or flammable, line-ups, listening to this box set when it was all done was an adrenalin surge. I have got to hand it to my past band mates, they played great for how turbulent times could get in the blink of an eye, and I absolutely love every moment of this collection."

MEGADETH was formed in 1983, shortly after California native Mustaine parted ways with METALLICA. "When I first started the group, I wanted to form a band because I was very bitter about being fired (from METALLICA) and my fuel was revenge," said the bracingly candid musician. With something to prove, Mustaine initially set out to create the heaviest metal band ever. Beginning with the band's 1985 debut album, "Killing Is My Business ... And Business Is Good!", and evolving through a shifting series of lineups, MEGADETH crafted a dynamic, intelligent style that combined the aggressiveness of thrash metal, the improvisational nature of jazz, and cynical, articulate, politically-charged lyrics into an innovative mix that built a rabid worldwide following.

Several early albums, including 1986's classic "Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying?" and the masterful 1990 release, "Rust In Peace", solidified the band's underground metal fanbase. In 1992, MEGADETH burst into the mainstream with their fifth album, "Countdown To Extinction", which debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart and went on to sell more than two million copies in the U.S. alone. 1994's "Youthanasia" followed with a #4 debut, while 1997's "Cryptic Writings" yielded four Top 20 hits at rock radio, including "Trust" and "Almost Honest". By the time of 1999's "Risk", however, which featured a pop slant unheard on previous MEGADETH recordings, Mustaine himself began to grow disillusioned with the band's direction and the music industry. 2001 saw a return to the band's heavier roots on "The World Needs A Hero", but a year later, a compressed nerve in Mustaine's arm forced the singer and guitarist to put his career and MEGADETH on hiatus, while reassessing both.

Part of that reassessment involved MEGADETH's Capitol Records catalog, which began with the band's second album, "Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying?" "I always had the desire to make 'So Far, So Good ... So What!' (1988) sound good ever since it came out, because I wasn't really happy with it," says Mustaine. "I just wanted all of them to sound good." Mustaine spent months remixing, remastering, restoring — and in some cases, reconstructing — the band's Capitol catalog to bring it as close to his original vision as possible. Each reissue was packed with unreleased tracks, demos and alternate mixes, as well as new liner notes by the iconoclastic Mustaine.

MEGADETH's tenth studio album, 2004's "The System Has Failed", debuted at #18 on Billboard's Top 200, and the band's sold-out "Blackmail The Universe" tour followed, supporting the new album and Capitol's extensive catalog campaign. Dave Mustaine's Gigantour, inspired in name by the classic 1960s cartoon "Gigantor", took MEGADETH and a host of other bands selected by Mustaine across North America and in 2005 and 2006. The prophecy continues with the band's new critically acclaimed album, "United Abominations". MEGADETH will invade cities across the U.S. this fall on the band's "United Abominations Tour Of Duty".

Dillinger Escape Plan Explain Tour Cancellation

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN check in with the following update:

"Sooooo here's the deal. This may sound like bad news but its actually good news dressed up like bad news. Sorta like if you were absolutely certain you were about to bang a hot new date and instead she rolled out on you midway through making out, only to have Scarlett Johansson come in a couple minutes later and finish the job. Or if you're into dudes, whoever the equivalent is, Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt or that dreamboat from High School Dorksical.

Anyhow, here's the skinny. We were filming two videos last week, and leave it to our resident Tornado Of Destruction In A Small Kosher Frame known as Ben Weinman to somehow break his foot while filming A FUCKING VIDEO.

Of all the places and times Ben has been seriously hurt playing, he outdoes himself and manages to break his foot in A FUCKING VIDEO. He of course was ready to go out and kick ass with a cast on his foot, which we seriously considered for a second, but figured we'd wait til he could actually kick ass with both feet just in case he did further damage to his foot, which he certainly would have.

Which means we need 4-6 weeks for him to fully heal.

So the bad news is that USA and Europe are both cancelled. The GOOD NEWS is that we're already rescheduling the North American tour, which will now include Canada and the USA cities that we were missing like Detroit, Austin, Portland and Seattle.

We're gonna have a CD release party on November 13th on the east coast in a soon to be announced city, sure to be way '87, and then we're gonna steamroll a full North American headlining tour from then 'til a few days before Santa comes.

Then we'll hit up overseas right away in 2008 with a killer package and more extra dates there too, maybe Japan and Australia, we'll nail it down soon.

We are so so sorry if you already bought tickets to the now cancelled shows, it is as disappointing for us as it is for you, they will definitely be refundable from wherever you bought them. Go out and support the bands that would have been on tour with us when they come your way, GENGHIS TRON, BEHOLD... THE ARCTOPUS, and A LIFE ONCE LOST.

Send Ben your good vibes, he is hobbling around on crutches out in the hallway right now as I type this. Walking around in NYC the other day with Ben on crutches, our old bass player Adam in a wheelchair, and talking to Brian on the phone with his whacked out hand, I realized that its probably only a matter of time before we are all dead, Final Destination style. So if you ever see us it is probably not wise to touch us as we will likely spread the curse to you through mere physical contact, and on the flip side, if you have the ability to lift curses or hexes or weird voodoo shit like that, get in touch. ?
In the meantime check out 7 our new 3 guitar player 4 Jeff Tuttle 3 shredding balls in this Panasonic 4 practice 1 video. Do Ben, Liam, and I a huge hilarious favor and call him up 5 and tell him 0 that "BITCH I'M THE BOSS", then hang up. 7 Seriously Jeff, you had to get initiated 7 sooner or later. Welcome aboard. You didn't think entry was free did you? Little somethin' called a hazing son. Watch out Gil, you're next. Wait until five male strippers show up one night on tour and put their floppers on your pillow while you're trying to sleep.

New tour info with bands and dates coming this week. Oh yeah, check out the new cover of Out Magazine here. See you in November bitches."

Pig's Head To Crown S.S.S. London Performance

Tomorrow night, Merseyside thrashers S.S.S will step out onto London's Brixton Academy stage as one of the support acts for US metallers Killswitch Engage. In their true underground and frenetic style, S.S.S look set to deliver a show-stopping performance to the 5,000 capacity London venue. Speaking out about his plans for the gig, the band's enigmatic frontman Foxy has stated:

"Last time SSS was in London they cut our sandwiches into triangles. We're not taking any chances at Killswitch. We're bringing our own packed lunch and our SSS mascot pigs head. Once we have fed our faces the crowd can taste the scraps."

The pig's head was famously tossed amongst frantic fans at the 'Thrash Gig' that S.S.S held in Liverpool earlier this year. This video footage of the raucous performance of crowd favourite 'The Beast' should provide a taste of what to expect from S.S.S at the London gig.

You can catch S.S.S at a string of smaller venue gigs on the following dates:

04.10.07 UK WIGAN The Tavern
05.10.07 UK BIRMINGHAM The Market Tavern
13.10.07 UK LONDON Old Blue Last
31.10.07 UK Liverpool - Night Of The Living Dead
15.11.07 UK MANCHESTER Satans Hollow w/ Onslaught

Dino Cazares Talks Playing Fear Factory Live Again

Blasting-Zone.com recently caught up with DIVINE HERESY / ex-FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares. The following is an excerpt from the interview:

Q: What was the main inspiration behind the name Divine Heresy? It would seem it’s exact origin and meaning have caused more than a little confusion…

Dino: "In the Bible, divine is something that is big and God-like, and heresy is against that. If you’re talking about Christianity, it’s someone who speaks against Christianity. It’s like blasphemy, but blasphemy is more like cussin’ the church out. Heresy isn’t necessarily offensive, it’s just something against it. It’s kinda like good and evil. We’re not angry about Christianity, it’s just all about the battle between good and evil. It’s just a good story, that’s all that it is.”

Q: Overall, how would you describe your experiences working with (Bleed The Fifth producer and acclaimed former MACHINE HEAD / MEDICATION axeman) Logan Mader?

Dino: “Logan Mader was really cool. I stared working with him when we did the Roadrunner All Stars together. From there, we did some early demos with Divine Heresy and then I worked with him on the ASESINO record Cristo Satanic. Then we did some more demos for Divine Heresy, so it was only natural for me to use him for the whole album. It’s a co-producer thing. Basically, Logan and I co-produced it. My biggest challenge was finding the time. I’ve been so busy doing my other projects. I’ve been talkin’ about doin’ Divine Heresy since 2002. Ever since I’ve been out of FF, I’ve been talkin’ about doin’ it, ya know? But I was doing other stuff with BRUJERIA, Asesino and the Roadrunner All Stars. Finally, I said ‘Enough is enough with these projects. I need to put a real fuckin’ band together…’ If I want Divine Heresy to be a success, I really need to focus on it. This is what I really want to do right now.”

Q: Any idea what type of set list you’ll be working with? Any truth to the rumors that you’ll be including a Fear Factory song amid the set?

Dino: “That’s a good question. We’ve been thinkin’ about that a lot. We’ll definitely play the whole record, but the record’s only forty five minutes long, so we’ll need to add a couple of songs in there. We don’t exactly know what songs we’re gonna add, but… We actually have three B-Sides that we didn’t put on the record that we might do. We might do those songs live, I’m not sure. There’s been talk about us doing a Fear Factory song, but I don’t really know yet.”
