Planes Mistaken For Stars Plans To Disband
Planes Mistaken For Stars has released additional details regarding their break-up and final plans. Here's a statement from drummer Mike Ricketts:
"It's true; Planes Mistaken for Stars will be doing their last tours and shows in the next 9 months. We will be doing Gainesville Fest, an East Coast tour in November, a smaller Texas tour in January, a European tour in the early spring, and hopefully a few Colorado shows between. To sum it all up, by this time next year Planes Mistaken For Stars will be no more.
There are many reasons why we've decided to move on: Financial strain, family obligations, etc. but we really just felt it was time. Our love for each other and our music has not diminished. It will always be there and I have no doubt that we could continue to write balls to the wall music. Now it's just time for change.
Chuck and Neil will continue to blow minds with their band, Git Some. Gared will be writing/performing in Hawks and Doves (a collaboration with Matt Bellinger, Planes's old guitar player). Then I will be moving to Chicago to be closer to family, hopefully starting a band there with some old friends and probably going back to school to pursue my science career.
We'd like to thank everyone who has supported us through the years. To the bands that we've toured with: you will always hold a special place in our hearts. To our committed friends and family who've helped establish us: words cannot express our appreciation. Then to the many steadfast fans and friends whom we've met on the road: thank you for your love and devotion. One of the hardest things is realizing that we may not get to see you as often as in the past. So please make sure you come to see us in these final months!
It's been one hell of a ride! The past 10 years have flown by and we've had experiences we could never have dreamed of. Thank you all for being a part of it. On that note, Farewell!! We'll see you all soon in a city near you!"
After Forever Launch Maiden Tour of North America
Fresh off a European tour and eager to support their Nuclear Blast self-titled debut album released on September 25th, Dutch rockers AFTER FOREVER will begin their first-ever tour of North America with a headlining performance at this year’s ProgPower VIII festival in Atlanta, Georgia on October 6th and will play through October 21st with 13 shows throughout the East Coast, the southwestern U.S., and Canada.
Sander Gommans, founding member, lead guitarist, and main composer for AFTER FOREVER had this to say about the upcoming tour:
“Now it’s time to say goodbye to all of my He-Man figures and hit the road. It will be an emotional goodbye [laughter]. This tour means a very heavy schedule for us… a lot of computer game contests on the bus! Since AFTER FOREVER is only doing a limited number of shows, I know not all of our fans will be able to come out and see us, so I’ll take my camera and laptop with me and try to stay in touch with everyone through our My Space site. To those fans who can make it out, see you on tour!”
Named after a Black Sabbath song from the Master Of Reality album and graced with the powerful, rock-infused voice and dynamic stage presence of lead singer Floor Jansen, AFTER FOREVER’s sound can best be described as a symphonic synthesis of melodic metal with energy-driven rock. Look for the band’s exclusive features in the upcoming issues of Metal Maniacs and Metal Edge magazines.
You can view the band’s official video for the single “Equally Destructive” on YouTube or below. You can also view a fan-created video for “Equally Destructive” as a tribute to Live Earth Day (07-07-07).
