Matt Zane To Perform Suspended At Porn Convention
Society 1 frontman, Matt Zane, will be suspended while playing guitar at the upcoming Pornstar Utopia and Ink Tattoo Convention in Houston Texas. The event will take place on November 10th. Zane will be playing guitar with Core (www.wearecore.com). He will be pierced in front of the crowd, stretched then lifted in to the air while playing guitar. He will then swing around and pick up Pleasure Productions contract girl Tera Wray. The band will be playing the whole time this is going on. "After I was on the Dave Navarro show," stated Zane, "the offers to suspend for a live audience have been a little overwhelming. As much as I like to entertain, one of my main concerns with anything I do is to keep the performance fresh. I didn't want to attempt 100 suspensions and have them all be the same. So it just so happened that I was asked to perform in Houston and that is where the other chapter of CORE is located. They also have a musical director and musicians that play during their shows. So I thought it would be a great opportunity to bring my suspensions to the next level by playing guitar simultaneously while suspending and performing with the CORE musicians. It's something that we hope to incorporate into Society 1 shows as well."
Matt Zane has always been known for his singing in Society 1, but not for his guitar playing. "I have always played guitar and written 90% of everything in my band Society 1 but I was never outspoken about my guitar playing until recently. I never wanted the former guitar player to feel like I was trying to receive all the attention and recognition. It was hard enough to get him noticed because of my adult video involvement and outlandish stage show."
Matt Zane will be playing the Cobra model Greg Bennet guitar from his sponsor Samick Guitars.
Matt Zane and Tera Wray will be promoting the upcoming Tattooed & Tight 2
Pornstar Utopia and Ink Houston Tattoo Convention

Monster Magnet Mainman Discusses New Album
Vassil Varbanov of Bulgaria's Tangra Mega Rock recently conducted an interview with MONSTER MAGNET mainman Dave Wyndorf. An excerpt from the chat follows:
Tangra Mega Rock: There's a cover version of THE ROLLING STONES' song "2000 Light Years from Home" on [the new MONSTER MAGNET album] "4-Way Diablo". Why?
Dave Wyndorf: I guess the question is more "Why not?" I love this song, and my buddies in the band wanted to play it, so that's the reason. They brought it up, and I said, "Okay, if it sounds good..." We did it and it was really fun to do.
Tangra Mega Rock: Is there something that you can pick up as a phrase to describe the atmosphere of the whole recording process of the album?
Dave Wyndorf: Ah... The thing I'll always remember from this time is that the guys in the band — Ed, Jim and Bob — were really, really, really good. Those guys put down their tracks really fast, it was excellent, it was fun...
Tangra Mega Rock: A lot has been written about the victims that the rock'n'roll world has given... How do you personally feel today? Are you still in good shape?
Dave Wyndorf: Yeah... I was in bad shape for a while because of touring too much. I was taking too many sleeping pills and that kind of stuff... I think the trick with rock'n'roll is to know when to stop for a while and not stay on the road for too long. That's what makes me go crazy.
Tangra Mega Rock: What about the concept of rock'n'roll in general? Now, in the 21st century, does it have to be in a more futuristic kind of shape?
Dave Wyndorf: Well, I think the main reason it's different now is that more people in the world today tend to get their music from other sources than record stores — they look for it online, on computers and stuff like that. Besides, the way rock'n'roll is sold is more corporate now than it ever was, but I don't think that will effect the music that much, as it should come from the same part that it always did.
Tangra Mega Rock: Once we were waiting impatiently for a new album to come, like counting the days backwards till the release date of the new AC/DC record or something, and now almost everything's been leaked on the Internet months before, there's no impatience and this kills a bit the value of the whole ritual of being a rock fan... What do you think?
Dave Wyndorf: That was really well said and I totally agree. The way people get their music now isn't the most exciting one. The ritual has been torn apart by all this stuff and... I hope that people can kind of invent their own ritual that would make it as exciting... but I agree with you — it's not much fun when stuff gets leaked out there and you just download it. The physical act of going out to the record store has definitely gone away. What replaced it is that kids are still searching for bands, but they do it on the Internet and on YouTube. They still look for underground stuff, but that's where they search. I don't particularly think that's good, I think the old physical way is better... but at least it's still being done.
Anders Björler From The Haunted Issues Band Update
Anders Björler (guitar) of Swedish modern metal act THE HAUNTED has delivered the following update on the band’s recent and upcoming activities:
“This last year has been really busy. The tours have been great and so has the response. We went to Russia for the first time in September 2007 which was simply fantastic. Beyond our wildest expectations, actually. A tour report from the Russia trip can be found on our Youtube page. We are currently at home writing some new songs. We will combine the pre-production and writing with some gigs - starting off with replacing DARK TRANQUILLITY on the EASTPAK tour (with Soilwork, Caliban) in Helsinki on the 29th of October. Early next year we have an interesting touring agenda that we can reveal soon. We want to thank all the people coming down to the shows and making this a special year for us. / Anders” More...
Linkin Park Singer Breaks Arm During Show
The Pulse of Radio reports: LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington apparently broke his arm just four songs into the band's concert in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday night (October 14). Fans attending the show reported at the group's official message board that Bennington injured himself in a fall, although he did manage to complete the set. Co-vocalist Mike Shinoda confirmed the injury in a brief post and said that Bennington did not plan to miss any shows or meet-and-greets with fans.
The band will head to China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan and South Korea after finishing its Australian trek next week.
LINKIN PARK is expected to return for another U.S. tour in February of 2008.

Iced Earth Drummer Issues Road Reports
Iced Earth drummer Brent Smedley has issued a couple of road reports from the band's European tour on Iced Earth's website. Here's an excerpt from the latest:
"Well we made it to the gig in Zaragoza, Spain, better late than never...broken down bus and all. Kudos to an awesome crew. It was a festival gig in Zaragoza, biggest crowd yet. The show was awesome even due to a rushed set-up and an extremely late start time. I think we played from 1-2:45 in the morning."
"After the show the festival grounds turned into the biggest after party I have ever seen. The Spanish sure know how to throw a party. The next day we played Barcelonia, Spain at the Razzmatazz. This was the first
gig we where able to use our full backdrop (it is immense). The shows in Spain are always awesome...it seems the peole are hot blooded and have such a passion for their Metal. It is great to be back on tour taking it to the
masses."

Amen Post U.K. Tour Update
California-based band AMEN has issued the following statement regarding their previously announced UK tour:
"After all the supposed past booked tours and theoretical disasters, AMEN's black cloud has pronounced yet another setback. As the band were ready to leave for the airport today they were informed that their work visas had not yet been cleared, thus making the unannounced show on [October] 18th in Dartford IMPOSSIBLE and ILLEGAL for them to do.
"With that being said, the band is rescheduling that date for sometime next week, making the first gig the Damnation Festival in Leeds on October 20th. AMEN will be co-headlining one of the two stages with KREATOR, and while they remain unsigned they have a new album ready for release in early 2008. See today's only living mentalist DJ $PEEDRANCH along with the INBREDS on all of AMEN's tour dates.
"There will be no barricades, no bourgeoisie pose, just 100% pure gutter punk noise... AMEN is there for your abusement. More dates to be announced once they land in the UK."
AMEN's last collection of new studio recordings, "Death Before Musick", was released in 2004 through EatUrMusic — a Columbia Records imprint owned by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian.
Malakian — who makes a cameo appearance in AMEN's "California's Bleeding" video — met AMEN singer Casey Chaos when both bands played at Australia's Big Day Out festival in 2002 and the guitarist made AMEN his first signing.

The CD was also streamed 45,000 times when it went live on AOL Music during the week of its release.
The September 25 release of "Metalocalypse: Dethklok's The Dethalbum" coincided with the start of Season 2 of "Metalocalypse" on Adult Swim and the release of "Metalocalypse: Season 1" on DVD. The DVD, which hit streets on October 2, sold over 18,000 units in its first two days.
The "Bloodrocuted" video will be hitting the tube October 22 on Music Choice Video On Demand. Music Choice is the #1 On Demand network in the country, and their content has been viewed over 1 billion times.

Benediction Bassist Talks About New Album
Vassil Varbanov of Bulgaria's Tangra Mega Rock recently conducted an interview with BENEDICTION bassist Frank Healy. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Tangra Mega Rock: To begin with, the world is avid to get your new album. When is it going to be ready?
Frank: We'll go in the studio on November 21 with a guy called Scott Atkins. He's the partner of Andy Sneap, who did our albums "Grind Bastard" (1998) and "Organised Chaos" (2001). The CD will be out at the end of March 2008 on Nuclear Blast Records, as always.
Tangra Mega Rock: It's been six years since your latest effort "Organised Chaos" came out. Why did it take you so long to start working on a new record?
Frank: We're just incredibly lazy, he-he... No, we had problems with drummers that we weren't happy with. After Neil Hutton, who played on most BENEDICTION albums, originally left in 2005, we were using stand-in drummers live. However, Neil's back now and he'll record the next album as well. We've been using Nick Barker a bit live, but he's too busy at the moment, so we're gonna stick to what we consider the best BENEDICTION line-up.
Tangra Mega Rock: They say you guys are monsters on stage.
Frank: Monsters? Does it mean we're bloody ugly or something?
Tangra Mega Rock: I don't know, ha-ha!
Frank: I know we've got a reputation of being essentially a live band. When we're on stage there's no choreography or something — we're just playing and enjoying it with the fans. In a live situation you've gotta have a really good reason to go after BENEDICTION, because we're quite aggressive. The whole stage belongs to us. We are the band of the day on any show, any festival, anywhere. No matter whether we're at the bottom or top of the bill, we play as if we are the headliners. We're totally into the music.
Tangra Mega Rock: In death metal you can often find lyrics based on religious topics. However, Benediction is a bit apart of this tendency. What is your attitude towards religious topics in music?
Frank: It's everybody to their own, you know. I might not tell other bands what to play or sing about, and I don't really care. We're not a political or religious band in any way, and we don't want to preach anything to anybody in any ways.
Tangra Mega Rock: Finally, could you give us some more details about your upcoming album?
Frank: It's called "Killing Music" and it should contain 12 tracks. We'll start recording on November 21 and it will be out in the end of March on Nuclear Blast, which we've been with nearly as long as the label's been alive — 17 years. We're good friends, and we can still talk to the boss Markus Staiger. Our relationship with him has always been good, and we're not gonna let him down with this album. It's gonna tear his head off in the office!

Godsmack To Film New Video This Weekend
GODSMACK will film a video for its cover version of LED ZEPPELIN's "Good Times, Bad Times" on Saturday, October 20 on the corner of Milk Street and Oliver Street in Boston's financial district beginning at 11:00 a.m. The newly recorded song will appear on GODSMACK's upcoming greatest-hits collection, "Good Times, Bad Times - 10 Years of Godsmack", which is due on November 20. A track listing has not been finalized, but the set will presumably include most if not all of the Boston band's 13 Top Five rock hits. There are no further details on what else the package will contain, although it's likely that a bonus DVD and some live acoustic footage will be included.
The band will take an extended, indefinite break following the release of the hits compilation, but singer Sully Erna had a message for all the fans that have stuck with GODSMACK for the past decade: "I want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for the support and the love that you've given this band over the years. We're not going away, we are just gonna take a break and enjoy our 10th year anniversary, and kind of recharge our batteries. And then GODSMACK will be back, and we will come back bigger and badder than ever."
GODSMACK might play some acoustic shows in November around the release of "Good Times, Bad Times".
ANOTHER ANIMAL, featuring GODSMACK guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Shannon Larkin, released its self-titled debut disc on October 2. The new outfit also includes original GODSMACK guitarist Lee Richards and former UGLY KID JOE frontman Whitfield Crane.
Atreyu Guitarist Launches Clothing Line
The following press release has been announced:
Rokk Clothing is the brainchild of Dan Jacobs, guitarist with ATREYU. An avid fan of eighties Rock, Dan would scour the Internet to find vintage T shirts. One day, in conversation with his brother Joe, they got to thinking about how much these T shirts cost and surely there must be a less expensive way to produce them. Dan had a very definite idea of the design, fabric, fit he wanted and together with Joe's business skills they have put together their first range.
Says Dan, "I wanted to design my own brand because I wanted to produce the kind of T shirt I would buy, at a reasonable price. These 'T's had to look like real eighties stuff, classic Rock band 'T' shirts in bold primary colors and design, – they've got to look so good that at first glance you'd think it was the real thing."
Rokk Clothing brings alive the classic Rock shirt of today. All are original authentic designs, inspired by Dan and executed by Joe exclusive to the Rokk Clothing brand. The range also features Japanese style headbands, like the ones Dan wears during ATREYU's performances.
The capsule range of Rokk Clothing was launched on October 1, 2007. Says Joe Jacobs: "We have been really encouraged by initial sales and the excitement the range is generating. Orders have been received from all over the United States as well as from the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany and Italy."
Saxon Postpone Australian Tour
KMW Productions have issued the following press release with regards to SAXON's upcoming Australian tour:
"We've had the cream of metal here in Australia over the last few years but the visit by UK vets, Saxon was going to be something really special; a fist pumping, heart thumping, hell, I'll say it, maybe even tears of joy type experience. It'll still be all those things but now in April 2008 rather than October. A few more months after almost a thirty year wait will be a breeze. Besides, it gives more time to save up for that second t shirt." - Murray Engleheart
A collective moan echoes across the land…it is with much sadness that one of metal’s most influential bands, Saxon, has been forced to re-schedule their pending tour of Australia. The band’s passports were not returned by The Japanese Embassy in time for Australian visas to be issued. Dates are now being rescheduled for April 08 and will be announced shortly.
Ticket holders for the shows in Sydney and Melbourne on October 24th and 25th should retain their tickets as they will remain valid for the re-scheduled dates to be announced shortly.
Sinergy Laid To Rest?
According to CHILDREN OF BODOM fan site Scythes Of Bodom, guitarist Roope Latvala's contribution to the upcoming Finnish Guitar Heroes album is the track 'Soap On A Rope'. It was originally written for the long awaited SINERGY album that, according to Latvala, "never seemed to happen". Given the number of times the album has been delayed and reports that recording was still incomplete as of earlier this year, it suggests that SINERGY has been put on ice.
'Soap On A Rope' also features Sinergy members Lauri Porra (bass/STRATOVARIUS) and Janne Parviainen (drums).
Sinergy's last album, Suicide By My Side, was officially released in 2002.
Stay tuned for more details.
Led Zeppelin Members Hint At Tour And New Songs
Sun Media has issued the following report from John Kryk:
The three surviving members of LED ZEPPELIN are reuniting next month for their first full concert since disbanding 27 years ago.
What everyone wants to know, though, is this a precursor to a world concert tour? Or a new CD of original material? Or both?
Neither guitarist Jimmy Page nor bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones ruled out anything yesterday, in separate telephone interviews with Sun Media.
Page, Jones, singer Robert Plant and drummer Jason Bonham - son of the fourth member of Zeppelin, John Bonham, who died in 1980 - are playing a two-hour set November 26th at the 02 Arena in London, England, as part of a tribute concert in aid of the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund. Ertegun was the forward-thinking Atlantic Records executive who signed Zeppelin to a record deal in 1968.
So is this show actually a, well, trial zeppelin for a full-blown reunification?
"Basically, we are concentrating on this show," Jones, 61, said. "That's where all the energy is going. I mean, who knows, but one step at a time."
Page, 63, was much more circuitous in answering the tour question. He said that all three surviving band members, as well as Jason Bonham when he tours with Foreigner, always play Zep material whenever they perform live.
"So you've got the four individual members playing Led Zeppelin in four different capacities," Page said. "When they unite, you've got the key members. You can't play it any better, as they're the people who actually played it and wrote it in the first place ...
"(The Nov. 26 concert) is what we're working toward ... That's what we have on our horizon at this point. I know you want to hear other answers, but I'm afraid that's all I can give you."

Machine Head Cancels Korea And New Zealand Shows
The following message was posted on the official Machine Head web site:
Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, Machine Head sincerely regret that they will be unable to play their upcoming shows in Korea and New Zealand. Insurmountable difficulties arose while attempting to secure passports and work visas, preventing the band from getting the necessary clearances from the respective consulates in time to enter and perform in both countries. The band extend their deepest regret to the fans in Korea and New Zealand that were looking forward to these shows, Machine Head was also looking forward to playing both shows, and they are extremely disappointed that they now cannot. They will, however, be making every effort to return to both countries as soon as possible, and want you to know that they deeply appreciate your support and understanding.
Audio Interview With Shawn Drover Available Online
Mike Metal for "The Metal File," of Montreal's CHOM 97.7 FM recently conducted an interview with Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover. Shawn talks about touring with Megadeth, how he came to join the band, the recording of Megadeth's latest release, "United Abominations," and more. Ironically, "The Metal File" is the very metal show Shawn and his brother, guitarist Glen Drover, grew up listening to that originally exposed them to Megadeth back in 1985.
