Arsis Prepares For Thrash And Burn Tour
Determined to complete a tour with no car accidents, illnesses, or other distressing turmoil and ready to brave the road once again for the upcoming Thrash And Burn Tour, ARSIS bassist Noah Martin checks in to bring us up-to-date on tour preparations and the band’s newest addition:
“We’re really pumped about this tour. I don’t think there’s anything that will prevent us from finishing it. [Lead singer/guitarist] Jim [Malone]’s over his pneumonia. He’s been working out and running, and he feels better than ever. We even have new management that’s helping us move forward. They’re AMAZING. Hopefully our tour laminates will come with a lucky rabbit’s foot! [laughter] Right now we’re going over to [Anthrax singer] Dan Nelson’s place to rehearse for about three days before the Thrash And Burn tour starts. Our new drummer is Shawn Priest from Idaho. All the best drummers are coming outta nowhere from the Midwest! We screened him through his video on YouTube, and when we hooked up, he learned ‘We Are The Nightmare’ in a day and a half. We’re REALLY excited about this. We’re gonna have new drum parts in our songs off the new album. It’s gonna be WAY thrashier, more in-your-face. ‘Servants To The Night’ has been added to the set list because of Shawn. We’d like to keep him on as full-time, so we’ll see how he does on this tour. His flight to New York got delayed and he had to sleep in the airport, but he took it like a champ, so he’ll fit right in, putting up with a bunch of bullshit right from the start! [laughter] We’ll see if we can get him to drink boxed wine. First post on Blabbermouth gets a free beer at one of our shows!”
The video to the title track off of We Are The Nightmare recently received an outpouring of fan votes on MTV2's "Your Vote Counts" for inclusion on the next episode of Headbangers Ball. View the trailer to We Are The Nightmare’s bonus DVD here. An ARSIS live show photo gallery can be viewed at the Metal Fanatix website.

Staind Gives Update on Tour and Video Progress
Staind co-founder Mike Mushok has posted the following update:
"Hey everybody, how's it going? All is well here - we've been on the road now for just over two weeks and we're playing in the New England area so we get to spend some days at home which is nice. We had a real hectic past week - we were all in New York doing a bunch of press to promote the new record, The Illusion of Progress, which comes out August 19th. It went really well. Aaron was a bit under the weather - he's been fighting a cold since we started touring, so we didn't play anywhere but did a bunch of interviews. He's starting to feel better now though, which is great.
"We also got to see a first cut of the video for the first single "Believe" while we were in NY and it looks awesome! It was a really cool concept... it's about a guy who plays guitar and wants to move to the West Coast. The filming started in Springfield, MA and they took a week and drove across the country filming their experiences along the way. It's kind of like a reality video and it came out really cool. You can head over to AOL to check out the premiere of Believe and see for yourself.
"So, we're just getting rolling on this 3 Doors Down, Hinder tour and the shows have been great. Crowds have been awesome and getting a really good response to "Believe". It's great to catch up with old friends too, touring with 3 Doors Down and Hinder. We have a great time when we're out with those guys.
"Hopefully we get to see you out on the road. Talk to ya soon."
"The Illusion of Progress" will be available August 19th. You can pre-order your copy now and receive a Staind t-shirt and instant "Believe" MP3 download.

Ventflow Posts New Recording Diary Online
Unsigned metallers Ventflow have posted their second diary from the recording of their new EP. You can read it below:
"Tracking for the rhythm guitar parts started 9 o'clock sharp Monday morning. First things first were sorting out guitar sounds. We decided to use my line 6 POD X3 Live to record the guitar parts. We had to record direct really because we don't have the luxury of a soundproof studio in which to crank a guitar amp in. All the recording from now on will be done in my room at home. This means we have to keep the volume at sensible levels or risk:
"A: Chavs throwing bricks through the windows or
"B: The council coming round and giving us shit again, like when we got banned from playing at our last practice place!

Swedish death metallers MY OWN GRAVE are currently preparing the follow-up to their previously successful "Unholy" MCD and the new album will be entitled "Necrology."
Here is an official statement released by the band:
"Finally after many months in the planning we are happy to deliver some news about the upcoming album. The album will be called "Necrology" and the lyrical theme is death and how it has shaped humanity and history.
"We will begin recording the drums on September 1st at Studio Domsaga in Sundsvall and the rest will be recorded at our own studio. Mixing and mastering will be done by Dan Swanö at Unisound. The plan is to be finished with the recording before the end of 2008.
"The album will be released by Pulverised Records approximately before the summer of 2009. We all know how much can go wrong with release dates so that's about as precise as we dare to be.
"We're 95% settled with the cover artist and when that's official we'll post that info too."
You can check out a few songs from the aforementioned "Unholy" MCD on the band's MySpace page.
