The Haunted Reveals New Album Title

Swedish metallers The Haunted have checked in with the following update:

"So we're about to let people outside the box start peeking inside…

"The album we've come up with is one we decided to call Versus. Pretty much it's turned out what we had hoped for!

"Somewhere along The Dead Eye tours we started to see a pattern in what songs we kept coming back to, and what we felt really good about in the live setting and started talking about making a record that reflected the live energy of the band. As things went along and we finished a live session for Swedish National Radio P3, we knew it could be done. We decided to record the whole album live, and add vocals and solos once we had the songs down with the right energy and groove. Tue loved the idea. More...

Queensrÿche Frontman Goes Solo

Queensrÿche vocalist Geoff Tate has just announced through the band’s website that he will be performing three solo shows to promote the release of Insania, a red wine he co-created with the Washington-based Three Rivers Winery.

“Wine has been an important part of my life and the creation of Insania is yet another avenue to express my creativity and give my fans something more they can enjoy. With a limited production, I hope everyone who loves wine will join me in this wonderful new venture," says Tate of his alcohol-infused concoction.

I’ve heard of signature guitars, but signature blends?

According to a press release from Three Rivers, Geoff and the winery have similar tastes when it comes to grapy beverages. "We share this passion for wine and have put together a powerful blend that represents Geoff. We feel so fortunate to be working with such a well-respected artist that is also a friend," says winemaker Holly Turner of the German-born singer.

Geoff’s first show is scheduled to take place at the Three Rivers Winery in Walla Walla, Washington on September 20, 2008. His first engagement without the band in six years, he will perform music from his self-titled solo album, as well as a few Queensrÿche tunes. Rumour has it there will also be some samplings of his latest creation.

Geoff’s Insania Red Wine is currently available for pre-order through the Three Rivers Winery site and will be shipped out in February 2009.

As for the band, they’re not crying over any spilled grapes. Queensrÿche are slated to perform tonight with Geoff in the driver's seat at the South Texas Rock Festival in Boeme, TX and on July 13 at Rocklahoma in Pryor Creek, OK. Visit the progressive metal act's home on the Net for a listing of several other U.S. performances scheduled throughout August.

Behemoth's Nergal Checks In From The Road

Behemoth's mainman has issued a following update on the European "festival season" and the band's exploits:

"So, we've started a festival season. Two very successful weekends behind us and I guess it's time for some reflection now. First of all, we are extremely excited to be part of some of the best open air events taking place this year. What a splendid way to close 'The Apostasy' touring cycle! Last week's Tuska and Graspop simply blew everything away. It's been years since we played both and it felt great to finally be back there and rock! I just came off the plane from Slovenia. It was the first time ever we played at Metalcamp and let me tell you something - this must have been the craziest and at the same time most memorable festival in our career! We started with 'Slaves Shall Serve' and everything went pretty fine even though the monitors sucked and the whole show seemed to be a bit chaotic - but somewhere halfway thru the set all hell broke loose. When the intro to 'Demigod' started the clouds went pitch black and shortly after heavy rain and thunderstorms begun. The stage was literally flooded, everything was in water including us, our armors, guitars, amps - everything. But seeing the crowd goin' completely berserk we obviously didn't even think of heading off. We'd still go on with 'Conquer All' even though the weather conditions were really awful - then our amps started blowing up one by one, till there was simply no way to continue… but yeah, it was hell of an experience. Seems like we pissed off someone up there ha ha.

"Thanks to all of you out there who stayed in the battlefield to the end! We WILL come back next year with a complete show, you have my word for that!

"We'll be coming back in August to do another round of festivals such as Party San, Summer Breeze, Brutal Assault, Hole In The Sky! Can't wait already - but before we do that we'll take some serious vacation, decompress and recharge batteries to come back fully refreshed and focused! Ha ha, yes, you read it right, WE ARE TAKING TIME OFF. A whole month – I'm not even sure how on earth am I gonna survive this. Anyway, stay tuned for more news. There are some killer releases coming out from Behemoth later this year. We've been workin' hard for last couple of months to prepare something really special and cool.

"Wait and be surprised! See ya next month!"

Make sure to catch the band on their festival tour this summer: More...

Rockstar Mayhem Tour Cancels Sacremento Show

The promoters of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem tour have posted the following message:

"Due to Northern California wild-fires, July 11th (Sacramento) Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Performance Rescheduled to Monday July 14th

"Concerned for the health and safety of our patrons, performers and employees, Live Nation announces a date change for Sacramento's scheduled Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival at The Sleep Train Amphitheater. The air quality and temperature are expected to improve by end of weekend, allowing for the event to be moved to Monday, July 14th and show time will remain 1:30pm. Tickets purchased for Friday, July 11th will be honored.

"As we enter the second week of wild fires, and the recent 100+ degree temperatures, it is in the best interest of all involved that the tour date be rescheduled as conditions are expected to improve over the weekend. A variety of city and county officials have urged area residents to avoid long-term exposure to the outdoors and limit outdoor recreational activities."

"We sincerely regret this unavoidable cancellation and apologize to fans for any disappointment caused," says tour co-founder John Reese. "And while we're thankful that the show can take place on Monday, our thoughts are with the families in this area during this difficult time. Refunds will be available at original point of purchase." Krisiun Posts "Southern Storm" E-Card Online

Brazilian death metal act Krisiun have posted the following message:

“We would like to thank everybody at With Full Force for giving us the opportunity to play at this great festival once again, and to all the maniacs who were there going crazy with the brutal speed assault discharged during our set. We also had a lot of fun drinking and smoking with our old friends in MORBID ANGEL, Nick Barker, Danny Lilker, BELPHEGOR, MAYHEM, and many other friends involved in the music business. What a great festival. Germany fuckin rules!

Our new album Southern Storm is about to be released, and in November/December we will be back on tour to bring you all, real metal maniacs, the storm of pure brutal extreme metal. The new album gives you KRISIUN’s best – it’s relentless, insane, totally brutal, with no mercy for the weak. Like a Storm of Steel this album will devastate and kill all the posers, trend followers, betrayers and wimps who dare to say they play Metal. So get ready, the storm is coming.” More...
