At The Gates Posts US Tour Update

At The Gates has posted the first of their US tour diary entries from their US tour with Darkest Hour, Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust:

"We arrived this Tuesday in New York. I (Anders) got in to JFK and took the bus across town to meet the other guys @ Newark airport.

"Our sound engineer Bo missed his connecting flight out of Amsterdam, and on top of that his bag was a.w.o.l upon arrival in JFK. And if that wasn't enough, he got an ear infection resulting in high fever, massive pain & distorted mono hearing. He seemed slightly better today. Got his bag from the airport and everything, but he's still feeling pretty shit.

"The first two gigs at Irving plaza were amazing. It was great to see the other bands on the bill enjoying some great crowd response, It was my (Tomas) impression that all bands have had really good gigs so far. The first gig was without AC, so it was like 120 degrees on stage :/

"We are enjoying this tour a lot so far, and it's amazing to see the crowd response after 12 years of silence. Thanks to all the people coming out and making this a special event."

You can check out some photos from the tour on At The Gates' MySpace blog as well.

"What's up everyone! It's been a while since we've been able to blog about a bunch of different things! Our schedule right now is very busy, but we love it!

"Let's see, our European tour was incredible! All of the festivals from Sweden, Germany, Belgium, and England were awesome and some of the biggest crowds we've seen at a festival! The DEF LEPPARD/WHITESNAKE tour was something we will never forget! All the guys in those bands have become friends and they treated us so great! We made a lot of new fans and it was a great oppurtunity for us to play in front of that many people every night... we still did our meet n greets, too! We always will! David Coverdale Slams Record Companies

Vocalist David Coverdale of rock outfit Whitesnake slammed the big name record companies and expressed his support for American Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama in an interview with the Liverpool Daily Post. In the interview Coverdale stated:

"I welcome change. It’s nature’s way. I can’t help but laugh when I see the major record companies clinging desperately to the old-fashioned way of doing business and are being left behind in the new, technological dust. It’s a new playing field, lads and lasses, and if you want to score goals you have to move with the times and reinvent how you do most things. As Mr Dylan says ‘the times they are a-changin’ and I think to resist will be painful and uncomfortable, so, I’m moving on, boys and girls – you coming?"

He also stated in regards to politics:

"I’m a Barack man – apparently, once you go Barack, there’s no going back. I feel he’s the best hope by far in restoring the ideals of America, the respect it has lost around the world over the past eight years. It’s been hopelessly off course with the current useless ’ayporths. I can’t wait to see the back of them."
