Early Man Signs To The End Records
THE END RECORDS has signed Brooklyn-based trio EARLY MAN. The band (and duo at the time) won critical praise in 2005 with the release of their debut album "Closing In," a fully charged heavy metal machine with a gungho attitude and punk sensibility. The album spawned the successful single "Death is the Answer" and the video saw regular rotation on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball.
About the signing, singer/guitarist Mike Conte comments, "We're excited. THE END has a no frills, no bullshit approach. They're dedicated to putting out good heavy music. I liked the whole set up right from the start. I mean, from the first time we walked into their offices I was impressed. We saw a bunch of people running around busting their asses in a fucking warehouse in Bushwick, Brooklyn. That's attractive to me. It's also great because this way when Manhattan gets nuked, which with any luck should be any day now, we'll still have a label! But seriously, their focus seems to be on getting our music out to the people, plain and simple. Their method is smart and somewhat unique. We're very much looking forward to working with them"
Mike Bigel from THE END says, “We are beyond excited to add EARLY MAN to THE END’s roster. Everybody at the label has been fan of the band since the beginning; now being in the position to take them to the next level and get them the recognition they deserve is killer! Expect great things to come out of this relationship formed in the pits of hell!”
The band is getting ready to start a five-week tour across North America next week. Here are the tour dates: More...

Shadowside Vocalist Performs With Benedictum
Shadowside lead singer Dani Nolden performed with Veronica Freeman and Benedictum one of the highlights of the Flight of the Valkyries Metal Fest, the only festival in US featuring only female fronted rock / metal bands. Dani shared the stage with them on the Dio classic Rainbow in the Dark last Saturday (June 28) in Saint Paul, Minnesota (USA).
"It was certainly one of the highlights of the weekend! I came up with the idea after listening to the Shadowside CD one day. I knew that Benedictum had done several covers of Dio songs previously (two on their first album - 'Heaven & Hell' and 'The Mob Rules') and just thought it would be a unique experience, not to mention a lot of fun for the fans and the bands. Thankfully, even with the limited time to work on this idea, Dani, Veronica and the guys from Benedictum were able to pull this off incredibly well and I thank them endlessly for that! - said Bobbie Dickerson, festival organizer."
This isn't the first time Dani has done a special appearance. One of the most important ones was with Andre Matos and Shaman for the Judas Priest hit Painkiller.
Shadowside co-headlined Flight of the Valkyries Festival together with Unexpect from Canada.
A video of Dani with Benedictum is available at DailyMotion.com and below.
As of right now, Shadowside is in the middle of the second leg of Devastating the Theatre 2007/2008 Tour. On July 6 the band hit Fort Worth, Texas and then appear at Rocklahoma. More...

Gallows Posts Studio Update
Gallows have posted an update from the studio, where they are working on a new release:
"So seeing as it feels like we released Orchestra Of Wolves back in the 19th century, we thought we'd give you a little update on what's happening with the new record.
"We've been writing for the last few weeks and have about a dozen tracks that we feel could go on the album so far. BUT... we also plan to write a whole load more before we begin recording so this album is going to be all Killer no Filler. We know a lot of bands say that but you can trust us when we say we mean it!
"Recording is scheduled to begin on September 1st with the producer GGGarth Richardson who's worked with legendary bands like Rage Against The Machine, Melvins and Red Hot Chili Peppers. We're really excited to begin recording and we hope to have the record released worldwide in February 2009. So it's a little while off yet but will be worth the wait!!
"Check back soon for more updates, we'll be posting regularly and putting up some video clips on our Youtube channel when recording starts."
