Psychostick Makes Unique Pitch To Record New Album
Comedy/metal band Psychostick has launched a new way to help raise recording money for their next album: in exchange for a $50 donation, Psychostick will use their fans’ names as a lyric in their new and unwritten song, “400 Thank Yous” (working title). The band plans to start recording in August with a spring 2009 release via Rock Ridge Music.
“Our fans have been asking more and more frequently about when we're going to record our next album. The problem has not been a lack of songs - we have enough songs to record two new albums. We simply haven't been able to afford to stop touring and record it. Finally, something had to be done. This was our solution,” says guitarist Josh “The J” Key.
From July 14th through September 30th, Psychostick will be accepting the $50 donations (limited to only 380) through their website, www.psychostick.com. Businesses will have the opportunity to name drop in one of only 20 places for $250.
In addition to the name use, every donor will receive a signed copy of the new album and a signed poster. One lucky individual will win a pair of tickets plus airfare and accommodations to the CD release party.*
The band has also posted a heartfelt promotional video on YouTube.com, also shown below.
“So in a nutshell, drop some cash our way and your name shall be immortalized in a Psychostick song. We'll pronounce it correctly and everything,” promises Key.
Psychostick has created a special page on their website that details exactly where the money goes (studio time, new equipment, software, etc). Visitors to the page can follow the bands progress dollar for dollar. In total, the band hopes to raise $23,000. More...
Krallice's Debut Album Available Online
The debut album heeding from the black metal vision of guitar wizard Mick Barr (Ocrilim, Orthrelm) and Colin Marston (Behold...The Arctopus, Dysrhythmia, Byla, Indricothere, etc.) is now available exclusively via the Profound Lore website a few weeks before its official release.
The Krallice debut album is a virulent vision from the twisted and unique minds of Barr and Marston. The band also features Bloody Panda drummer Lev Weinstein. Epic time-stretching hymns that take reference from Weakling's "Dead As Dreams," Burzum's "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" masterpiece, Gorgoroth's "Antichrist," and Ulver's "Nattens Madrigal," while incorporating Barr and Marston's musical pedigree from their respective acts, Krallice has nevertheless created a distinct-sounding opus that helps to strengthen and augment the landscape of North American black metal.
The tracklisting for the Krallice album goes as follows:
1. Wretched Wisdom
2. Cnestorial
3. Molec Codices
4. Timehusk
5. Energy Chasms
6. Forgiveness In Rot
You can check out an MP3 of "Wretched Wisdom" on the MP3 section of Profound Lore's website.

Metallica Strikes Deal With Guitar Hero
Metallica is now officially on board for the popular game Guitar Hero. However, it is not the expected deal of their own version of the game. Instead, gamers will be able to download the bands entire forthcoming album, "Death Magnetic," to play on Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero: World Tour. What will no doubt anger many gamers however is that this deal is exclusive to the XBox 360 console.
Metallica themselves have posted the following message on their official website:
"Death Magnetic," the entire album, available for Guitar Hero too! It's a first in both music and gaming . . . the same day that "Death Magnetic" hits the streets, you'll be able to download every song from the album for Guitar Hero III! We are so psyched that we'll be the first out of the gate with this simultaneous release . . . who knows, maybe a few years from now this will be the norm when your favorite band's new record comes out.
And for those of you who are anxiously awaiting the next Guitar Hero, World Tour, we're ready for that too . . . you will be able to experience Death Magnetic for drums, vocals, and guitar when that game emerges this fall.
Keep watching here for the where, when, and how stuff..."

Poison Singer Responds To Def Leppard Vocalist
Blabbermouth.net reports: Poison singer Bret Michaels was recently questioned at a festival in Sweden about what he made of comments made by Def Leppard singer Joe Elliot regarding glam rock bands of the 80s. Here's what he had to say:
"Well, I didn't hear the comment, but I can say this: all I do is I sit around and play music and do stuff [related to music]," Bret replied. "I know DEF LEPPARD, for some reason, they get a kick out of wanting to knock every band. My thing in life is not about knocking any music. I mean, obviously, I'm saying this for POISON, we have not sold out, and continuously, for 20 years every arena because we care about just our appearance. The music comes first. You've gotta like 'Talk Dirty to Me' and 'Nothing but a Good Time'. And if I'm gonna go out on stage and put on a good show and play… First of all, that band [DEF LEPPARD] shouldn't be knocking anyone about their music since they just did a show called 'Dancing with the Stars' in the U.S. and they got crucified because they fucking lip-synched the entire show, so before they bust anyone's balls, I've never lip-synched a fucking thing in my life — ever! That's what makes it so funny for me, because why would you wanna bust anyone's balls? It's all of us trying to make music and do it together, and I think if you crucify somebody, it's like the pot calling the kettle black. But I have nothing against them — I like their music, and I'm sorry they feel that way. I don't wanna put HANOI ROCKS down — I know a couple of their songs, and they're really good music — but I think POISON, when you see tonight when we play, there's nothing… You walk around our stage — there's nothing behind. Everyone's out there singing and playing. For better or for worse, it's all real."

More Details On Norway Rock Festival Deaths Emerge
Norway's Aftenposen.no has reported the following information regarding the deaths at a recent rock festival in Norway, headlined by Alice Cooper and Motorhead:
Terje Brueland, age 32 and Anita Wathne, age 31, had traveled to Kvinesdal on Norway's southwest coast to attend the Norwegian Rock Festival. They were staying with a group of friends from Oltedal on board the bus, which had been converted into a mobile home of sorts.
At around 2pm Saturday afternoon, some others came to check on those staying on the bus and found a tragic scene. Brueland and Wathne were dead, and eight others unconscious.
Police suspect all 10 were poisoned by carbon monoxide gas emitted from a generator that supplied electricity to the bus.

Guns N Roses To Release New Song In September
The following is courtesy of Robert Levine and The New York Times:
A decade and a half after releasing its previous album, GUNS N’ ROSES plans to put out a new song in September — on the video game Rock Band 2. MTV expects to announce on Monday (July 14th) that the sequel to its popular Rock Band game will include 'Shackler’s Revenge', a track from the Guns N’ Roses album that has been in the works for more than a decade, said people familiar with the deal who spoke on condition of anonymity because the arrangement has yet to be announced.
The inclusion of the song on a game suggests that the Guns N’ Roses album, Chinese Democracy, will come out this fall, after years of delays. Axl Rose, who has selected replacements for the other original members, has said that the album is finished, but a release date has not been announced.
MTV and Universal Music Group, Guns N’ Roses’ label, declined to comment on the deal.
