Beneath The Massacre Posts In-Studio Video

Montreal’s BENEATH THE MASSACRE has posted the first in a series of in-studio videos featuring footage from Northern Studio in Quebec while the band was tracking material for its forthcoming album, ‘Dystopia,’ which is scheduled for an October release through Prosthetic Records. The clip can be seen here and here and more clips should be expected shortly. Recorded again with Yannick St-Amand (Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis) and featuring artwork from Felix Rancourt, which can be seen in the video,"Dystopia" is the follow-up to 2007’s "Mechanics of Dysfunction," the band’s Prosthetic debut after first releasing an EP with Galy Records.

"We're all stoked for the new album,” frontman Elliot Desgagnes says. “The songs are by far the weirdest, most intense songs we have ever written. It's great to finally listen to all the crazy ideas we had.... After six weeks of intense tracking, we're also relieved that's it's all done. The writing process was hard and exhausting since we wrote most of it on the road, but we can now say that it worth it and we cannot wait to release the album and play the new songs on our upcoming tour. We're also stoked to get back to touring the US more frequently starting this September with Necrophagist."

BENEATH THE MASSACRE recently completed a string of dates dubbed the Montreal Assault Tour alongside Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance, and The Plasmarifle and is now gearing up for a high-profile slot on the Canadian run of the Summer Slaughter Tour, also featuring Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Into Eternity, new labelmates Neuraxis, Whitechapel, and Veil of Maya. Upon completion in late August, BENEATH THE MASSACRE will continue on with Nechrophagist for a tour on American soil, details on that will be available shortly.

Here are the latest BENEATH THE MASSACRE tour dates: More...

Cryptopsy Issues Summer Slaughter Road Report

Vocalist Matt McGachy of Cryptopsy issued the following tour update on their label Nuclear Blast's website:

"Summer Slaughter has begun and it is like an extreme metal sleep away camp for the damned. We have simply been having an amazing time out here on the road this past week. The line up could not be any more solid, all of the bands have been delivering extreme sets night after night. On top of being amazing musicians all of the bands are very sociable and we are having a great time. I am sure that we will all be leaving as great friends by the end of the tour. The crowds have been extremely responsive and we have witnessed some of the sickest pits since the beginning of The Unspoken King tour. We are very excited to continue our run and are looking forward to seeing what the rest of America has in store."

New Lamb of God DVD Premieres In NYC

On Monday June 30th, 2008 I had the honor of attending Lamb of God's “Walk With Me in Hell” DVD premiere at the Chelsae Theater in New York City. I walked in early and took a seat in the center of the nearly empty theater. The theater had comfortable seats, great sound, and a screen suitable for the room. Seeing the DVD in a theater definitely made it a better experience than sitting at home watching the DVD. More...

AC/DC To Announce New Album Title Next Week

Undercover News has issued the following report from Paul Cashmere:

We will know next week what the title of the new AC/DC album will be, but Black Ice looks like a front-runner at the moment.

AC/DC have three titles being considered for the album, another one being Runaway Train, Albert Music's Danny Keenan confirms for Undercover News.

Keenan says that we should know in the next week what the band would officially decide on. Albert Music CEO Tim Prescott will head to New York for meetings over the AC/DC release next week.

Danny Keenan says he has heard half the album but did not hear a song called 'Black Ice'. If it is being used as a title track then it may have been one of the later tracks recorded for the album.

One Day As A Lion Signs To Anti Records

Anti Records has signed One Day As A Lion, the new project of Zack de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine) and Jon Theodore (The Mars Volta). The band will be releasing its self-titled debut EP on July 22nd.

Here is the tracklisting:

1. Wild International
2. Ocean View
3. Last Letter
4. If You Fear Dying
5. One Day As A Lion

The band writes:

"One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept."

"A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California."

"The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: 'It's better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.' This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound."
