Former Amon Amarth Guitarist Resurfaces
Former Amon Amarth guitarist Anders Hansson has resurfaced as a member of Stockholm-based death metal band Blood Mortized. Anders Hansson was a member of Amon Amarth from 1988 to 1998 and performed on the first two official releases, "Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds" (Pulverised Records, 1996) and "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" (Metal Blade Records, 1998). All Shall Perish Posts Two New Songs Online
Oakland CA’s ALL SHALL PERISH has posted two new songs on the band’s Myspace page. The title track and “Never Again” have been taken from the band’s upcoming release, “Awaken the Dreamers.” “Awaken the Dreamers,” the band’s third overall release, will be released on September 5th in Europe and on September 16th in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. Drummer Matt Kuykendall commented on the new material and the variation to be found within the new album's 12 tracks:
“We have never been a band to write the same record twice and we have never enjoyed records that are 1 single and 11 worse versions of the same song. This record is the most diverse thing we have done to date. Every song is different and brings something new to the overall experience of the CD. When you look back to all the classic records of our time, they are full of all kinds of different songs. ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ just wouldn't be the same without ‘This Love’ and ‘Hollow’. Our record is a breath of fresh air in a scene that is turning stale.”
The recording sessions for the follow-up to "The Price of Existence" once again took place at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland with producer Zack Ohren (DECREPIT BIRTH, LIGHT THIS CITY).

Rock Against Diabetes Announces Second Event
Rock Against Diabetes has announced a second event featuring the Dimebag Darrell Stage on October 25th, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. The union came from discussions about the events being held for Rock Against Diabetes with Rita Haney-Abbott, Dimebag Darrell’s widow.
Haney-Abbott's very close to this disease in her private life, as her grandmother is diabetic and recently her father, Howell Haney, was diagnosed last year as a diabetic. “Once my father became diabetic that is when I learned that diabetes can kill if not dealt with properly,” states Rita Haney Abbott. “I feel that this is a cause that we want to support. I know Dimebag would have been there to support a cause that can help, for he was very close to my father and would have done anything for him and vice versa. Dime always had a good heart that was unconditional in giving to many, not just his family.”
Rock Against Diabetes is an ongoing concert series and fundraising program with the goal of providing information and support to diabetics and people concerned about the disease worldwide. A main directive is to attempt to avoid asking the public for donations, but to offer great entertainment and unique fundraising experiences through music to raise funds that are needed to provide some new ground breaking support for diabetics.
The Dimebag Darrell stage line-up is yet to be determined and will be announced in the next month along with the sponsors that support this great charity event.

Incubus To Go On Hiatus
Billboard.com reports that Incubus is planning to take a break while its members pursue a variety of endeavors. The band has just completed a year-and-a-half-long tour in support of its 2006 album "Light Grenades."
Guitarist Mike Einziger will unveil an orchestral piece in concert at Royce Hall on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles on August 23 before enrolling in Harvard's music school to study composition next year.
Boyd also plans to enroll in a university art program, and the band's drummer is having a baby.
The band will play the VH1 Rock Honors salute to the Who on July 12 in Los Angeles alongside Pearl Jam, the Foo Fighters, Flaming Lips and Tenacious D. as their final show for the time being.
"I'm of the mind to say it wouldn't be a bad thing to disappear for a year or two years," Boyd says. "A lot of people would say culture moves too fast and you need to remind people, but I would argue there's not any rush. Maybe they'll be a sex scandal or an arrest or something to keep us in the news."

Fucked Up Finishes Recording New Album, Posts MP3
Toronto's Fucked Up have just finished recording their second album. It will come out on Matador worldwide on October 7. Entitled "The Chemistry Of Common Life," it contains 11 tracks on the CD and 12 tracks on the double vinyl. This sprawling, multi-instrumental epic is "basically about rebirth and the Sun. And lightning," according to guitarist 10,000 Marbles. The sound is incredibly dense, featuring 10-15 guitar tracks on many songs, along with flutes, organs, and French horn, with an elegant clarity and sense of purpose. The record picks up where 2006's "Hidden World" left off, in terms of the band's characteristic monumentality, but injects a newfound urgency and unease which the mystical lyrical concerns only amplify.
Guest performers include Katie Stelmanis and the Vivian Girls on vocals, Max McCabe-Locos on organ (formerly of the Deadly Snakes, also featured on Fucked Up's "Year Of The Pig"), and many others.
The first MP3 from the new album has been released. This immense multi-tracked assemblage, entitled “No Epiphany” can be downloaded here. The 7? will come out this fall and contain two versions of the song entirely different from the album version linked above. The song features backing vocals by Cassie Ramone, Frankie Rose and Kickball Katy.
Fucked Up will be touring Canada and Europe this summer. Here are the latest tour dates: More...

Darzamat Begins Work On New Album
Darzamat has begun the work on the new album, the successor of the released in 2005 "Transkarpatia."
Darzamat's vocalist - Flauros explains the silence of the band for the past few months:
"There've been no signs of life from us during couple of last months, yet the silence was only apparent. There were a few factors contributing to this very silence, yet I can assure that we weren't on holiday during this time. The whole group was engaged in a very hard work on the few projects. Obviously, the most important of them is the new Darzamat's album but the rest is not less interesting. First of all, our keyboard player - Spectre's been very strongly wrapped up in the new fantastic undertaking. He was asked to prepare a film soundtrack for the needs of the Discovery channel! It's a dusky and dismal picture as it presents the serial killers ravaging in Poland. Nera was also engaged in the whole undertaking and she sang there a couple of truly insane musical backgrounds. As far as I know, the film will appear already this year. Therefore, You'll soon be able to get to know for yourself how Darzamat's members ideally composed in this climate," emphasizes Flauros.
