Just what I wanted to hear, another one of my favorite bands on the verge of being raped by Road Runner.

I'm surprised that it is going to be in D tuning, don't know why they decided to do that but who knows it might be better then E flat, not to mention epic is always better.

Satyricon may not be my favorite black metal band but they are one of the few BM bands which discography I enjoy entirely. Nemesis Divina will always be a top 18 album.

Did he say drop D tuning or standard D tuning? Every time I try to watch the vid it stops loading a few seconds into it.

That's interesting, as I know a lot of bands from overseas especially black metal tune in standard D tuning. Cradle of Filth was actually the one who got me into that tuning. It's cool in the sense that it allows your sound to drop into a heavier realm, yet not as muddy as your B or A tunings. However, if he is talking about dropped D tuning, that could mean they are shooting for a more simplistic style of riffs with a heavier straight forward sound. Either way I am looking forward to it, the guitars on Now, Diabolical were just an amazing showcase of chainsaw sounds.

Standard tuning is a broad term in Black Metal as a whole. While older BM bands stuck to E, you will find a lot of later bands experiment with E flat, E sharp, D, C, and rarely B. Even a lot of the older bands that are still around you will find experimenting.

No matter what tuning it's in, I'm excited for it. "Now, Diabolical" was amazing, "Nemesis Divina" was amazing too.

I was refering to the older albums of the original bands, seeing how very few stuff post 2nd wave is "true" black metal, and they generally stuck to E tuning (except Emperor on the Wrath of the Tyrant demo which was a drop D tuning).
