"Well, finally we got around to record my bass parts. Originally, I was supposed to record those at the beginning of June, but my I broke my back recently and it just wasn´t healed enough to play bass then. This time we recorded straight to line which meant that my Ampeg-mountain was not needed. I played all the bass parts with my trusted and excellent G&L 2500-bass.
"This time (as usual) bass parts were recorded under the supervision of Tuomas Heikkinen while Jari Mikkola took care of engineering and additional guidance. Torsti took care of vacationing... :)
"On the first day I played 4 songs composed by Tuomas. He orchestrated those sessions with Zappa-like toughness giving helpful tips and guidelines about my playing regarding some nyances etc. Jari also was another helpful pair of ears during those sessions. More...

Eyes Of Noctum Cancels Tonight's Live VA Show
Eyes of Noctum has issued the following update about canceling their live show scheduled for tonight:
"So unfortunately, our show that was supposed to be tonight at the ZeroPak in Winchester, VA has been cancelled. The club has lost their ABC (liquor license) and is at least temporarily, closed down. The whole band is pretty upset; the promoter assured us even as late as last night that the show was still confirmed a 'go'. We are very sorry for the short notice, but we have literally just found out ourselves. All remaining shows are still confirmed so far as we know, including tomorrow's show in Richmond, VA @ Nara Sushi. Sorry again, and thanks for the understanding"
Inquinok Becomes A Solo Project
Vocalist Krelian of Seattle black metallers Inquinok has issued the following update about parting ways with all of the other band members:
"The members of Inquinok (including myself) will be focusing on our other projects which in turn makes Inquinok a solo/studio project of mine. This means no live shows, I will just be focusing on writing and recording for this band. I may use session musicians here and there to spice things up (including perhaps some former members). So in other words, not the end of Inquinok, just going to focus on writing/..recording albums.
"On a positive note, I will most likely be writing and recording for a 3rd album here and there throughout the rest of the year, and will be able to do something a little different this time around and give a lot more samples (rough mixes) of the new material then in the past. Also since It's become purely my solo/studio project, I'm going to make the album as epic as possible, since I'm not going to worry about trying to re-create the experience live.
"As for our other bands/..projects, Rob (Kythving), Joe (Mordred) and Simon (Tormentor) are playing with Shaded Enmity which will have a new release out soon. Rob and myself are also involved in a melodic metal project called Somnae. I also have several other projects I am or will be working on as well, including my industrial/..metal/dark techno hybrid project Tyrant Synthesis which is working on it's debut album.
"Anyways, feel free to send me comments, and thanks to all that have supported us over the years and went to our shows, it is very appreciated by myself and former members of the band."
Panopticon Finishes Recording New EP
Atmospheric black metal band Panopticon has issued the following statement about finishing the recording of a new EP:
“The new EP: ‘existence:..on the subject of mortality’ is complete. it will come out on cd as a split cd with when bitter spring sleeps. The second part of it will come out on a split with skagos and throndt Both parts will later be released on a vinyl only release as a compilation full length. No details have been worked out on the vinyl so please dont write trying to pre order it or anything. i havnt even found a label to partner with for that release,so if anyone is interested get in touch.
“This work is very different than anything ive done before. It's sorrowfull, gut wrenching and introspective... Focusing on the atmospheric end of panopticon, forsaking its darker side to yeild an atmospheric yet passionate record. I hope you will like it. If your expecting ‘the death of baldr’ or ‘i, hedonist’ you will be disappointed. it leans towards ‘speaking’ and ‘aptrgangr’ but even more in that direction.
“As for the boxes, i have received the boxes today.finally. they will be printed and finished, stuffed and shipped by the end of the week. after all orders are filled,i'm taking some time away from the stress of mail order and will be sending the remainder of what i have to distros that will be posted on this page. you guys can deal with them rather than deal with me direct for a bit,as i am taking some time away from selling cds and merch to focus on writing new material.
“Thanks for your patience and see you all soon.”

Mnemic Guitarist Undergoes Surgery
Danish modern metallers MNEMIC have issued the following band update:
“We apologize for the lack of news. We have been really bad with updates, but we can assure you it will change as we are taking the very first steps towards a new MNEMIC album.
“There has maybe been some speculations regarding our last show, which featured an unknown guitarist handling the duties as a stand-in for our very own Rune Stigart. To clarify the situation, Rune had to undergo surgery for an old wrist injury, in which the doctor advised not to perform over a specific period of time. The band had already been booked in advance to headline the Sardinias Heavy Sands festival, which was impossible to postpone. The band’s and Rune’s decision was to carry on with a stand-in guitarist. His name is Victor Ray Salomonsen. Some of you might recognize his mom, Sanne Salomonsen, the great and famous Danish rock mama.
“Victor stepped up to the plate and proved to be a great musician and performer, and we would like to thank him and the efforts made on such a very short notice prior to the scheduled appearance on Italian shores. We would also like to thank the organizers of Heavy Sands for making the show, trip, and the stay very special to the MNEMIC family! See you next year!”
A live video from the Heavy Sands performance can be seen below. Photos from the festival can be viewed here. More...

Dillinger Escape Plan Discusses European Tour
Back from a two-week European tour, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN look back on the gigs with the following comments:
"We just wrapped up a quick two weeks of European shows, starting in Long Island and finishing up in Finland.", singer Greg Puciato starts. "Every show was invigorating for us, including a lot of places we haven't played in a really long time. Our producer Steve Evetts had a revelation and decided that he will no longer be producing records but would rather come with us and do lights for free, so if anyone wants a free light guy he's your guy! In typical light guy fashion, the quality of the shows quickly became measured by "how killer the lights were" that night. When we go in to the studio in a month Steve will probably have strobe lights and a smoke machine in the vocal booth. Anyhow, we played with a ton of great bands over in Europe, in a ton of unsuspecting places that kick hordes of ass like Poland and Belgium. What did we learn? We learned that Alex Skolnick from Testament pretty much drives the school bus of metal guitar soloing...blindfolded, and with his feet. We learned that 99% of Europeans have never seen a Mexican. We learned that German bus drivers think it's ok to drink beer and drive because they are 'rock and rollers!' We have a month and a few days to finish writing our new album, 'Option Paralysis,' before we record from the end of August to the beginning of October. We'll be checking in from our Myspace and Twitter accounts and all that stuff, and we'll be sneaking you song titles and snippets of demos as well as behind the scenes videos from now until the release."
