DuskMachine Issues Studio Update

German metal band, DuskMachine, has issued the following studio update:

"We'd just like to inform you that we're starting soon tracking the vocals. Rhythm and Clean-Guitars are done, Russ will start laying down the bass tracks in a studio in Vancouver, B.C. very soon. The whole recording process is quite a bit delayed due to the fact that 2 guys in the band have day-jobs that make a constant working on the album almost impossible. We also think that rushing thru it won't make it better, so we take the time it needs to work on it. But so far we're very pleased with the overall sound of the new material - it is exciting to hear it getting more complete when adding new instruments and parts. We hope the recordings will be done by late summer, then comes mixing and the usual search for interested labels/companies....still a long way to go.
Stay tuned for the new stuff!"

Sepultura, Obituary And Sadus To Tour Together?

John Tardy, the lead vocalist of legendary American death metal group Obituary has checked in with a road report from Europe. It reads as follows:

"That was a busy few days there to finish this run out! Not much sleep happening, a lot of travel, but some really good shows. Thanks to all of you that came out to see us! We finished out in Spain at a great festival in Lorca. It was a good show and great to see our good friends in SEPULTURA. It had been a while since we saw them and they want us to put the S.O.S. Tour back together. Sepultura, Obituary, SADUS...that sounds fun to me. We will see what happens.

"Next up for us, we will be headed to Portugal for a festival and our first trip there! After that we start our US tour and we are looking forward to that!

"I will go through all my photos and get them up here in the next day or two as soon as I get my self together and try to get caught up with all the fan email. I did not have internet for the last few days so I am falling behind, but I will get to them as soon as I can!"

Arch Enemy Reveals "The Root Of All Evil" Artwork

Arch Enemy have revealed the cover artwork for their upcoming album "The Root Of All Evil," which can be viewed here. Arch Enemy issued the following statement about the album:

"On September 28th, 2009 ARCH ENEMY will release their new studio album ‘The Root Of All Evil’ in Europe. It contains a selection of completely re-recorded tracks from the band’s first three albums ‘Black Earth’ (1996), ‘Stigmata’ (1998) and ‘Burning Bridges’ (1999) reenergized and unified by the band’s ultimate line-up!

"Originally recorded with ever changing band members (i.e. former vocalist Johan Liiva, drummer Peter Wildoer, bass player Martin Bengtsson), ‘The Root Of All Evil’ presents classic tracks as ‘Beast Of Man’, ‘The Immortal’, ‘Transmigration Macabre’ or ‘Bridge Of Destiny’ with the insane vocals of Angela Gossow, several completely new bass lines by Sharlee D’Angelo, the ever-present guitar wizardry of the Amott brothers as well as Daniel Erlandsson’s merciless punch. The entire project was approached with the idea of having the possibility to re-add these songs to the bands live set and follow up the release with some special touring activity.

"The album was recorded at a few different locations in Sweden and produced by ARCH ENEMY with Daniel Erlandsson and Rickard Bengtsson handling the engineering. Finally, this special release was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap. In the light of ARCH ENEMY finding their defining line-up and a bigger worldwide recognition with 2002’s ‘Wages Of Sin’ album, it has been a logical decision to update the earlier compositions and present them in the splendour of a 2009 shape.

"The band chose to have the ‘The Root Of All Evil’ artwork/layout created by Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes. More details on ‘The Root Of All Evil’ will be announced in the coming weeks!"

The gig was 20 times bigger and better than I'd hoped, and I spent the rest of the day sitting in the sun drinking. They had this beer called Wolf Balls, and they gave us a bottle of Jack Daniel's, and this other stuff that tasted like the water in a toothbrush mug. We drank it anyway. At one point the guy from Papa Roach was at the bar beside me. I couldn't stop laughing." More...
