New Slayer Single, "Hate Worldwide," At Hot Topic This Week

Last October, one of Slayer's brand new songs, "Psychopathy Red," leaked online, and since then the song has been streamed more than a half-million times. Nine months is a long stretch to go without a new Slayer track, so the band is making available another morsel from their upcoming album, "World Painted Blood," due out later this year. The limited-edition single, a Kerry King composition, is titled "Hate Worldwide," and will be available exclusively as a CD-single at Hot Topic stores beginning Tuesday, July 28. You can preview the track here.
"It's a really cool track, and Tom's voice sounds incredible on it," said King. "The last line in the song's chorus is '..spread a little hate worldwide,' and that's what we've been doing for 25 years."
As "World Painted Blood" is a Slayer album, it deals with topics such as death and destruction, war, serial killers, and the Apocalypse. The album was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. "World Painted Blood" was produced by Greg Fidelman, who's spent time in the studio with Metallica, the Gossip, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, Slipknot and others, and executive produced by long-time Slayer colleague, Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project.
Slayer - bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, and drummer Dave Lombardo - is currently co-headlining the Mayhem Festival with Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, and Bullet for My Valentine, among others. Remaining dates are as follows:
July 29 Toyota Pavilion, Scranton, PA
July 31 Blossom Music Center, Cleveland, OH
August 1 Post Gazette Pavilion, Pittsburgh, PA

Slayer? Hot Topic only? I died a little on the inside :<
Eh, not really though. I don't bother with them anymore but back when I did the ones that actually had a decent cd/vinyl selection actually did have *some* good choices, and they were actually priced decently, especially considering Hot Topic is a mall store.

It sounded fine to me although I'm not an expert in Professional Death Metal music: I just know what "clicks" to me and this song does/I liked it. I'm sure there's thousands of SLAYER songs that outshined this one & maybe their still brushing up 'mixin final touches of it and the whole new album Slayer "World Painted Blood" what a creepy-sorrowful name and the 1st single "Hate Worldwide" is pretty cool sounded to me sounds like it's a vortex whirling you in to devastation. Peace! Very quick silver speedy.

Just heard it. I downloaded it for free. It's okay but not great! Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax have totally lost it! Metallica seems to be the only band of the Big Four of Thrash to actually be succeeding and doing it right in terms of a comeback and remaining relevant.

metallica still relevent?!?!?!?!?? hahahahahahha death magnetic was horsesh**!!! St. Anger was horsesh** and re-load was horsesh**...did you actually listen to the album or just get it beause it said metallica... EVERY song on that cd is just crap the... to me it sounds like a bunch of high school kids tried to make a metallica record. everything is just a sh**pile of unorganized riffs it dosent have any feel whatsoever... i think i may hate it more than st. anger, this album has the sh**test riffs and leads ive ever heard from them cyanide may be the worst song ive ever heard (and i love lady gaga)..... 10% of christ illusion and 10% of united abominations is 150% better than any of metallica since the black album... that may be blasphmy to some of you but i wont ride on their backs just because they are metallica... bottom line they dont make good music anymore...

Slayer hasn't put out anything relatively interesting since Seasons. They refuse to experiment which truely makes a good artist. You guys can rip Metallica a new one all you guys want but atleast they havn't put out the same album twice (I put Load and Reload in the same album) and I can respect that more then Slayer refusing to change their sound since Reign in Blood. I havn't even kept up with anything Slayer has done since Christ Illusion and I don't really care to its all the same.

Easily the most rational thing I've read on this website in a long time, much agreed.
Cheers to you as well.

i would much rather hear 5 slayer albums that sound as good or close to good as reign in blood than 5 metallica albums that are 5 differant forms of s hit... its not an opinion its a fact metallica could not have started their career with load n re-load and maintained any sort of career whatsoever on the subsequent albums... just because its a differant form of sh it doesnt make it less sh**ty ...slayer always deliver

Hmmmmmm....have to take back my original post. I've listened to the song three times and it's grown on me a little.
Araya still sounds monotone but the song does get faster in the middle.
As far as all of you guys b***** about Metallica and Slayer.
Zip it already.
This sucks, no that sucks, no you suck.
Uugh.
Everyone likes something different.
Another headbangers trash is anothers treasure.

Was it just me or was Tom's voice louder than all of the instruments? Anywho, I'm sure the whole CD will take a bit to grow on people no matter what, since the first thing anyone ever does when a new Slayer cd comes out is compare it to Reign In Blood. As long as the production ends up good when the cd comes out, I'm sure there will be more satisfied metalheads than angry ones. I mean, we're talking about Slayer here guys.

that was not cool...the production was horrible...wtf i been waiting on this now im not thinking to highly about it....the guitar parts were fine but whats with the drum sound it sounds only mildly better than lars drums on death magnetic???? maybe the cd will sway me but this sample was a "production disaster" and is it just me or is tom alot slower and monotone.... with all that said i do have to say i hated and still do hate "eyes of the insane" (their singe from christ illusion) but i really liked "cult" and the rest of the album. as i do psycopathy red so we will see....thanx for postin the link though....
