Arch Enemy have revealed the cover artwork for their upcoming album "The Root Of All Evil," which can be viewed here. Arch Enemy issued the following statement about the album:

"On September 28th, 2009 ARCH ENEMY will release their new studio album ‘The Root Of All Evil’ in Europe. It contains a selection of completely re-recorded tracks from the band’s first three albums ‘Black Earth’ (1996), ‘Stigmata’ (1998) and ‘Burning Bridges’ (1999) reenergized and unified by the band’s ultimate line-up!

"Originally recorded with ever changing band members (i.e. former vocalist Johan Liiva, drummer Peter Wildoer, bass player Martin Bengtsson), ‘The Root Of All Evil’ presents classic tracks as ‘Beast Of Man’, ‘The Immortal’, ‘Transmigration Macabre’ or ‘Bridge Of Destiny’ with the insane vocals of Angela Gossow, several completely new bass lines by Sharlee D’Angelo, the ever-present guitar wizardry of the Amott brothers as well as Daniel Erlandsson’s merciless punch. The entire project was approached with the idea of having the possibility to re-add these songs to the bands live set and follow up the release with some special touring activity.

"The album was recorded at a few different locations in Sweden and produced by ARCH ENEMY with Daniel Erlandsson and Rickard Bengtsson handling the engineering. Finally, this special release was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap. In the light of ARCH ENEMY finding their defining line-up and a bigger worldwide recognition with 2002’s ‘Wages Of Sin’ album, it has been a logical decision to update the earlier compositions and present them in the splendour of a 2009 shape.

"The band chose to have the ‘The Root Of All Evil’ artwork/layout created by Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes. More details on ‘The Root Of All Evil’ will be announced in the coming weeks!"

^ Read the article thouroughly. It clearly states that this album will contain re-recorded tracks from their first three albums. There will be no new material whatsoever in this album.

i like the idea to give some of the old classics a new sound with angela, HOWEVER, this is a cheap way to put out what they're saying is a new album. so basically there wont be any new material til probably about 2011. ugh.

Re-iterate post 3. I love this band, but this is a crap move on their part. So far all they have put out is a live dvd of all there current material, and a re-recorded disc of more old material. I NEED MORE CHRIS AMOTT LICKS TO STEAL!!!!!!!

I hope you mean chris ammot licks to "buy" and not steal =(
It is kinda a cheap way to release an album without having to write any actual music, but for those people (like me) who find most of Liiva's stuff really "bleh", it's a good way to reintroduce us to their older material with their vocalist that we actually like listening to. They better come out with a new album relatively soon, though. Like in 2010. This album was recorded like last October, so it's not like they haven't been touring that much lately.
