Opeth Breaks News Of New Video Game Early

As was previously reported, Opeth announced on their website that their song "The Lotus Eater" would be appearing in the upcoming "Saints Row" video game for the PSP. Apparently the game hadn't been announced yet however, as was reported in the following excerpt from a Game Informer article:

Sometimes a game is so secret that all aspects of its existence are veiled from the public for months, waiting for high profile events like E3 to finally announce them. And sometimes a Swedish metal band mentions tells the world on its website. Saint's Row PSP is one of those games, and Opeth is one of those bands.

For the uninitiated, "The Lotus Eater" is a track off Opeth's 2008 album Watershed. The track includes such heartwarming lyrics as, "After all you fell in love with death, life has aborted." With death being a key topic in much of Opeth's music, the inclusion of their music into a Saint's Row game feels like a natural fit.

Finally, the band says, "So if you love playing video games: the game is expected to hit the streets around March 2010." We do love playing video games, Opeth. Thanks for the heads up. You can always count on Swedish metal bands for breaking industry news.
