Pitch Black Records Signs Niviane

Pitch Black Records is thrilled to welcome US power metal act Niviane into its artist roster! The debut album "The Druid King" is scheduled for release on November 3rd.

Niviane is an American power metal band hailing from Sacramento, California formed in the fall of 2014. The band’s core sound was created by melding together collective influences of classic heavy metal along with modern European metal to produce what has been branded "a new breed of American power metal." "The Druid King" was recorded at Alien Production Studios in California, with JK Northrup at the helm – eleven tracks of pure heavy epic power metal with dual lead guitar attacks are combined with gritty soaring vocals for a result that is nothing short of majestic! Add to that song themes drawn from historic and mythological\fantasy, it will be hard for "The Druid King" not to please even the most demanding metal fan!

The track list for the album is:

1. The Berserker
2. Adrestia
3. Watch the Banners Fall
4. Into Twilight
5. Gladiator

It is again a theme based album, thematically revolving round the rise of the new society that forms after the war that mankind lost against Starlit Flame, the nanomachine entity. Riot Signs With Nuclear Blast Records

Nuclear Blast Records is proud to announce the signing of cult New York Heavy Metal band Riot (a/k/a Riot V), which will be inducted into the prestigious Heavy Metal History Hall of Fame 2018!
Hardly any other metal act has such a long and absorbing history behind it. Since the quintet formed in 1975 they have been hit by several severe strokes of fate during their long career. With Rhett Forester (R.I.P. 1994), Guy Speranza (R.I.P. 2003) and Mark Reale (R.I.P. 2012) - three deceased members have left their mark on the four decades of Riot’s band history.

Since their legendary debut album "Rock City" (1977), Riot has released numerous heavy metal classics, including 'Fire Down Under' (with classics like 'Swords And Tequila'), their masterpiece 'Thundersteel' (1988), and the unforgotten 'The Privilege Of Power' (1990).

After the death of Mark Reale and the departure of Tony Moore, Todd Michael Hall (from Michigan, USA), completed the line-up of the band, which in the meantime performed under the name of Riot V under the auspices of the two long term members and main songwriters Donnie van Stavern (bass) and Mike Flyntz (guitar). With the critically acclaimed "Unleash The Fire" (2014), a pure power metal jewel once again underlined the musical importance and influence of the quintet. More...

Arkaik Calls Forth The "Order Of The Hierogon"

September 29th will see the release of Arkaik's anxiously-awaited fifth full-length "Nemethia." In advance of its release, the brutal tech-death outfit unveils "Order Of The Hierogon" for public feasting. Check it out below.

Comments the band of the consuming, near-ten-minute track, "We really wanted to push our writing with this one, try some new things and challenge ourselves into making a massive track that explores the spectrum of our sound all in one song. We had the rare opportunity to work with Joe Haley from Psycroptic on a tasty guest solo and it came out better than we could have imagined.

"As for the concept of the song as it relates to the story, Cyrix stumbles into a hidden territory called The City Of Secrets. He is introduced to a banished order of outsiders, mystics, sages, psychic warriors, historians, and oracles that preserve the lineage of knowledge contained within the 'Order Of The Hierogon.' Once welcomed into the inner circle of this mysterious group who seemed to have foreknowledge of his arrival, Cyrix is bestowed with mental and physical tools and training to make his passage through the Nexion Stargate, which takes place at the end of the album.

"We created the word 'Hierogon' to describe a mystical navigation device that Cyrix inherits from his new allies. It is the 'holy grail' of the order. The Arkaik symbol you see in the beginning of this video is a visual representation of the Hierogon."

The fourth full length for Unique Leader and most ambitious studio album to date, "Nemethia" was produced, engineered, and mixed by Zack Ohren (Immolation, Fallujah, Suffocation, Decrepit Birth et al.) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California, and features guest appearances by Joe Haley of Psycroptic, Arde Ostowari formerly of Burning The Masses, Stephen Paulson of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, and former Arkaik guitarist Craig Peters, as well as Gabe Seeber from The Kennedy Veil and Decrepit Birth (live) performing drums for the entire album.

Kawir Posts Lyric Video For New song "Orestes"

Today, Greek black metal institution Kawir reveals a lyric video for the new track "Orestes." The track hails from the band's highly anticipated seventh album "Exilasmos" set for international release on November 3rd via Iron Bonehead Productions. Check out the song in the player at the bottom.

With "Exilasmos," the record is a concept about the tragic dynasties of the house of Lavdakides (Oedipus Tyrannus) and the house of Atreus. Both dynasties nearly exterminated themselves, and all these violent and inhuman acts brought forth the wrath of Zeus and the curses were consequently laid upon the whole bloodline. "Exilasmos" in Ancient Hellenic Language means calming down the gods' wrath, so it perfectly describes the tragic events featured in the namesake album.

The album was recorded at Esoteron Studio in Athens and mixed and mastered by Esoteric's Greg Chandler at Priory Studio. It features the following track listing:

1. Lykaon
2. Oedipus
3. Tantalus
4. Thyestia Deipna
5. Agamemnon

The Fright Issues Video Clip For New Single

German Goth rock outfit The Fright issued a video clip for the new single "Bonfire Night." The song is taken from the upcoming new album "Canto V" which will be released Friday the 13th of October worldwide via Steamhammer/SPV. It will be available in digital formats only in North America. The album can pre-ordered at this location.

Lon Fright comments: "This is our first single from the upcoming album "Canto V". A dark hymn that sounds like sexual intercourse between The Cult and Alice Cooper. If you like it dark and hard rockin' check it out."

"Canto V" was produced by Waldemar Sorychta at Dortmund's Waldstreet & Denroad Studios. "Having produced legendary discs like Wildhoney by Tiamat, Waldemar was my absolute first choice," explains Lon Fright. "He's worked with bands like Moonspell, Lacuna Coil and Sentenced, and is a fan of Type O Negative, so he fitted perfectly into our perspective. It's an honour for us to have him produce our album."

So on "Canto V" everything fits together - songs, lyrics, production and album title - a bit like in Dante's tale - into a complete circle. Lon Fright: "'Canto V' is famously known as the first real circle of hell. If we don't open our eyes soon and shake off our fear of all things new, we're in danger of sinking deeper and deeper into this maelstrom." Well, The Fright has taken a first major step out of the vortex. More...

Rites Of Daath Announce Debut EP

Godz Ov War Productions has set October 13th as the international release date for the debut EP from Poland's Rites of Daath, "Hexing Graves." The EP is going to premiere during a gig 'No Reason To Live' where Rites of Daath will be support Malthusian, Outre and Taran. This release will be available as a standard jewel case CD and Digital Download.

A few words from the band about the concept: "Rites of Daath's general aim is to create a heavy and crushing sound. It blends massive, slow parts with sudden explosions of sheer madness in the faster parts. The band's music is deeply rooted within the death metal underground scene, and it's faithful to the old school and raw sound. It was inspired by a variety of death/doom metal acts, such as Necros Christos, Morgoth, Grave Miasma and Asphyx, as well with Celtic Frost and Hellhammer. Dark and intense, the music is a reflection of the lyrical concept, because the music and the lyrics are an entity, and they focus around various alchemical themes, revolve around death and the cult of it. The EP itself evokes the majesty of death, but not only as a power behind everything, but also as a passage to the absolute. The production is 100% natural, without any triggers or a pumped, artificial computer-like sound." More...
