Shining Posts New Song
Swedish outfit Shining today unleashes the first track taken from forthcoming album, "X - Varg Utan Flock" (due out out January 5th). The song "Jag Är Din Fiende" will also be released on the A-side of a 10" vinyl single, entitled "Fiende" and coming out November 24th.
Shining mastermind Niklas Kvarforth comments on the new song: "The third track, 'Jag Är Din Fiende,' from our upcoming tenth album embodies everything that Shining represents on a musical level. An uncompromising mix of high and low tainted with a sinister atmosphere of horrible unease.
"Lyrically, this track speaks of the need and means for retribution, making not only this, but the album overall, infused with a nightmarish maliciousness and a pitch-black hatred that hasn't been as prominent on our earlier albums. There is a war coming and this is our statement on what we have in store for you!" More...
Hamferd Signs With Metal Blade
Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of up-and-coming doomsters Hamferd from the Faroe Islands. The band comments:
"We're thrilled and proud to announce that we have signed a recording agreement with Metal Blade Records! Since we started out back in 2008 we have worked closely with our local label TUTL. The cooperation has been rewarding and our ties will not be severed completely.
"However, for the upcoming album and in the future we felt it was time to work with an internationally renowned metal label to hopefully help take Hamferð to the next level as a band. We feel positive and confident about Metal Blade's setup and their commitment towards quality as the label houses many of our favorite artists and has released a ton of groundbreaking releases.
"Their legacy and dedication to metal music is vital. Our new record has been a long time coming. Needless to say, we are extremely excited to finally set it up for release!"

Now, the band is thrilled to reveal a brand new music video for that track, which features blistering black & white live performance footage. The clip was shot by Metalovisión at three festivals in Spain this past summer - Rock Arena, Resurrection Fest, and Leyendas del Rock.
Noctem comments: "'A Cruce Salus' is the last track we composed and a bridge between our latest full-length 'Haeresis' and our upcoming record. We decided to record some of the festivals where we performed this summer to capture the energy of the band in our live show, which is outstandingly fast, ravenous and full of anger." More...

Light This City Reunites
San Francisco-based Light This City has just announced the band's recent reactivation, as the outfit reunites to record the first new LP in a decade.
The band will enter Castle Ultimate Studios with Zack Ohren to record the fifth full-length LP in December.
Vocalist Laura Nichol states, "Performing and writing with Light This City has never stopped being fun. Now that I have the perspective from a guitarist/vocalist standpoint, I love to be able to switch it up and engage an audience with the freedom of only my voice, words, and a microphone in my hand. The personality that Light This City's music and influences draw out of me is something that I really enjoy exploring and embodying. While Heartsounds feels like an exhilarating challenge every time I step onstage, when I'm in front of an audience with Light This City, I always feel at home. I don't know if I could have both of those feelings with one band, but luckily, I have two to round it out!"
Drummer Ben Murray explains, "I think I can speak for all five of us when I say that we couldn't me more excited to resurrect Light This City, finish this upcoming fifth album of ours, and get back out there to shred some new and old songs for all ya' headbangers out there! We are eight tracks into this record and it tops anything we've ever released, by far. Thank you for waiting ten years; we'll see you all soon!" More...

Death Rattle Annnounces New Album "Volition"
Five years ago, New Hampshire-based groove-thrash band Death Rattle self-released the debut album "Man's Ruin," which served as a striking introduction to the fist-in-face outfit that channeled the musical styles of the band members' favorite bands into sharp-taloned songs that sunk deep. Back, refreshed and heavier than ever, Death Rattle returns with the sophomore full-length album "Volition," which set for independent release on October 20th. The album is available for pre-order now via Big Cartel - more pre-order options are coming soon!
Watch a brand new Emvison Productions-directed music video for Death Rattle's politically-minded new single "Love and War," now via Metal Insider at this location, or in the player below.
Death Rattle performs thrash with a purpose - music that emphasizes groove and lethal riffage over speed and interchangeable guitar parts. It's a sound bred from the attitude and angst of New England, a region that has faced economic and social strife and frustration time and again. Yet every time it lowers its head and pushes forward, obstacles be damned.
"'Volition' is the act of using free will to accomplish something," says guitarist and main songwriter Ryan VanderWolk. "It's taken a lot of work, but we've been able to overcome a lot of obstacles as a band, so the name has meaning that's very relevant to our experience."
With more time to work on and fine-tune the songs on the second album, Death Rattle is able to approach each cut from various musical directions to see what worked best. The band recorded the final tracks appearing on "Volition" at Brick Hithouse studio in Cape Cod, MA with engineer Sean Fitzpatrick over the course of several months.
The track list is:
1. Internal Determination
2. Love and War
3. Sentenced to Hell
4. Snake in the Grass
5. Adrenalize
6. Sociopath
7. Order Within Chaos
8. Unfinished Business
9. Doomsday

Torchia To Release Debut LP "Of Curses And Grief"
Finnish melodic death metal act Torchia will release the debut album "Of Curses and Grief" on October 27th via Concorde Music Company.
The album was produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Amorphis, Ensiferum), so expectations might rise high as Hiilesmaa has worked with some top names out there. The band says the sound they were after was some what old schoolish, organic and raw in a way that really serves the music. Advance sale is now on and you can get your own piece from Recordshop X (here) or Inverse Store (over here) where you can also find t-shirt bundles. ”Of Curses And Grief” will be distributed internationally.
The first single ”Fury” is now out and there’s also a music video released for it, which you can enjoy in the player below. This is what the band itself had to comment about the video: ”In the video for 'Fury,' Torchia accompanies nameless souls in their danse macabre. The protagonist sets out to defeat the judgemental light, but gets dragged back into darkness. The blind live out their agony, for it is the only thing that haven't been taken from them." More...

Sleeping Romance Premieres Video Clip For New Song
Let the curtain rise on the sensual seduction of Mediterranean symphonic metal: Italy's Sleeping Romance provides a symphony for the brokenhearted who somehow manage to love again. With the new album “Alba,” the band leads you on a journey of orchestral opera arrangements and siren songs; touching, sometimes frightening, but always as personal as can be.
"Alba" will be released on November 3rd via Napalm Records (pre-order the album here), but today the band has teamed up with MetalUnderground.com to premiere the video clip for the new single "Where The Light Is Bleeding," which you can check out in the player below.
Songstress Federica Lanna means every word of "The Bleeding Darkness In Me." As always, Federico Truzzi flatters her lovely voice with delicate guitars. The Italian quintet display true mastery, as they fuse bloodcurdling classical sounds with monstrous melodic death metal-riffing, full of force yet sustained by noble, theatrical flamboyance. After the success of the debut "Enlighten," Sleeping Romance's frenetic "Alba" is not to be ignored.
The concept of "Alba," 'Dawn' in Italian, centers around the main character and her life that advances through difficulties, choices and mistakes, and leads the character to a positive growth. The message the concept wants to give is that life is complex, full of obstacles, but there's always a way forward, and an opportunity for everyone to reach what their heart desire.
The full track listing for "Alba" is:
1. Overture - Twilight
2. Where The Light Is Bleeding
3. Lost In My Eyes
4. Touch The Sun
5. Forgiveness
6. My Temptation (see lyric video here)
7. Across The Sea
8. Everything Behind
9. Through The Looking Glass

11. Underture - Daylight

Cities Of Mars Streams New Album In Full
Tomorrow, Friday September 29th, Swedish Psych Doom masters Cities Of Mars will release the highly anticipated new album "Temporal Rifts." Today, the band presents an early stream of the album in its entirety via Pure Grain Audio at this location, or simply by enjoying it in the player below.
Cities of Mars is a psychedelic fuzz/doom band hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was formed in 2015 when Danne Palm (bass/vox) teamed up with Christoffer Norén (guitar/vox) and Johan Küchler (drums/backing vox) to create a heavy band with an integrated storyline - the saga of the Cities of Mars - where the KGB cosmonaut Nadia lands on Mars on a covert mission in 1971 and shortly after disappears into the misty depths of an ancient conspiracy. With inspiration from bands like Mastodon, The Obsessed, The Sword and Tool, the trio went hard to work.

Thaw Signs With Agonia Records, Announce New Album
Three years after building a sonic monument with "Earth Ground", Poland's experimental black metal band Thaw returns with the brand new full-length album "Grains," which is scheduled for a December 8th release via Agonia Records.
In the past years, the world of extreme music witnessed a monumental turn in black metal philosophy. A new, experimental approach stormed the genre and while many purists shook their heads in disapproval, a new age was already starting. As with every revolution, there were leaders and followers. While not being there for the initial spark, you can hardly call Thaw the latter. This Polish black/experimental powerhouse was founded in 2010 by members of such acclaimed acts as Mentor, ARRM and Furia. Their music boldly fuses black metal with sludge, doom and sonic experiments, along with with noise, electronics and free-impro.
Recorded during sessions scattered over various periods of time, "Grains" is not just another step forward for the already acclaimed band. The album divided into five pieces evolves in multiple directions. There is Thaw's trademark take on black metal noise, there is drone, last but not least – there is the ability to conduct a unique narrative with music. Intensity combined with abandoning traditional structures make the new effort of one of the most forward-thinking bands an experience one of a kind. A distorted landscape where creation meets destruction perfectly painted.
"Grains" has been once again recorded and produced by THAW at Maq Records Studio and Satanic Audio. A cover painting made by Furia's Sars as well as appearances of Maciej Morus (Mitch & Mitch, ex-Starzy Singers) and Stawrogin (Odraza) only add to the album's mystery and weird magnetism. More...
Statues Reveals Details Of New Album
Following the reveal of the disturbing and unsettling music video for "Unrest" last week (check it out in the player below), Australian hardcore outfit Statues has now revealed pre-order details, plus artwork and track listing from the forthcoming album "No Grave, No Burial," which is to be self-released on November 10th. You can now pre-order the album from Bandcamp or iTunes.
Statues explores a new direction with this record, whilst maintaining a strong connection to the roots and increasingly making them one of the prominent live bands to see, within Australian heavy music. The band has shared stages with the likes of Northlane, Norma Jean, Every Time I Die and many more.
"No Grave, No Burial" is a conceptual album set in the heart of a civil war, the character must find safety by leaving his home. To escape he must lose loved ones, battle his own demons, face who took all he knows and uncover a horrific truth at the end of his struggles. He fights to find freedom, only to further persecution and a bleak reality.
Statues kept the recording process entirely in-house with the album produced and mixed by Matthew Templeman (Voyager, Make Them Suffer, Surroundings) and mastered by Matthew’s long-time collaborator, Simon Struthers (Paul Dempsy, The Love Junkies, The Decline). The production balances the chaos and contrast of the previous album, with a thicker and more atmospheric aesthetic and a reflective of the gut wrenching theme of this record.
The track listing is:
1 Collapse
2 Sirens
3 Defiance
4 OnwardsTo The Sun
5 -
6 No Grave, No Burial
7 Unrest
8 Dirge
9 Sanctuary More...
