Silent Screams Releases New Single "Low"
Today Silent Screams presents the new single "Low"! It's the first song from the upcoming, yet untitled, album coming in early 2018! Watch the video in the player below.
Formed in 2007 by Tom Craig, Sam Varney, Ozzi Osman, Adam Mallabone and James Ryan, the band quickly started working on their first EP. In 2008 with the help of Producer Matt Hyde (As I Lay Dying, Gallows, Funeral for a Friend) Silent Screams self released "Ghosts." The band signed with Ghost Music and in 2011 released their first full length, "When It Rains", which was recorded and produced by Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, Miss May I). They shot a video for the title track and started gaining attention worldwide.
Silent Screams has since been through a line up change replacing lead vocalist James Ryan with Joel Heywood in 2012. The band has since signed with Artery Recordings and in 2014 released their second full length "Hope For Now". The sophomore album has done very well and had very impressive chart positions.
Following the touring cycle for Hope For Now, Tom decided to leave the band for personal reasons. The Band recruited Mikey Scrivens a long time friend of the band to be the new bass player/singer. Mikey joined the band on tours with The Browning and Asking Alexandria. The band recorded the single "LOVE//LESS" featuring Mikey on vocals. Following the 2017 European tour with Asking Alexandria, Mikey decided touring wasn't for him and he stepped aside.
The band had kept good relations with Tom and spoke to him about potentially working together on future projects. Tom decided to rejoin Silent Screams and they started working on the bands third studio album.
The band began writing and recording their third studio album in 2017. The band will be on a European tour with In Hearts Wake & Gideon, starting on Oct. 3rd!
The new album is due in early 2018! Check out "Low" here: More...

Warlord Signs With Frontiers Music Srl
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to welcome legendary U.S. metal act Warlord to the family for the release of a new studio album in 2018!
Long admirers of the band and having gotten to know drummer Mark Zonder through his work with Graham Bonnet Band and the upcoming group, Spirits Of Fire, (which also features Tim Ripper Owens (Charred Walls Of The Damned, ex Iced Earth, Judas Priest), Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), and Steve Di Giorgio (Death (Official), Testament, Sadus)), Frontiers approached Zonder about the prospect of doing a new Warlord album for release in 2018. Luckily for the label, Zonder and co-founder/guitarist William J. Tsamis were very much open to the idea. Says Zonder, "[a]fter all of these years, Warlord is with a 'real label.' It will be great to have Warlord music shared with a worldwide audience., which is something that has been missing for many years. With my prior working experiences with Frontiers, I know Warlord is in the right place and I am very appreciative of this great opportunity. We thank everyone at the label for their belief in Warlord!"
In September 2013, Tsamis and Zonder announced that they had tapped vocalist Nicholas Leptos of Arrayan Path and Astronomikon to be the new Warlord singer. This line-up, along with bassist Bynoe will be the line-up for the upcoming new album. Adds Zonder, "this Warlord release will be like all of the previous ones, 100% Warlord. No changing of direction to keep up with the current fad, just good ol' school Warlord music. Maybe leaning back a touch to the early days and we promise a high energy album that features the classic Bill Tsamis compositions and his classic guitar melody lines. As I always try to do, I'll give it my all in tandem with my favorite bass player Philip Bynoe, working together to create a solid foundation. This will be the first studio recording with Nicholas Leptos on vocals. We have performed live with him several times and are eagerly awaiting to capture his dynamic performances on tape. A classic Warlord album in the making......"
Stay tuned for updates as work on the album progresses....
Stillborn Releases "Anathema" Lyric Video
Sweden's Stillborn unleashed the second single "Anathema" from the comeback album "Nocturnals" today! The album drops via Black Lodge Records on October 27th!
With it comes a pitch-black lyric video, completely in line with the track's theme: "Anathema is not about the everlasting burning fire. It is about a compelling dark state with the absence of all human community, trust and faith."
Gothic metal was stillborn in the late 80’s. But some 28 years ago a band left unforgettable trails in the Swedish underground scene with a unique take on the doom genre. Stillborn combined a gloomy and darkened sound with the aesthetics of gothic rock, almost as straight out of an old horror movie.
Now the members got back together and recorded a new album in the same spirit as their legendary debut "Necrospirituals." Ten songs were written for the album, aptly titled "Nocturnals" and it was recorded and mixed at Studio Juicy Halftone in Copenhagen by Henrik Stendahl.
With a refined sound, Stillborn will please their old fans that have been yearning for a new album as well as get new ones. In essence, this is Stillborn as we know them; sinister, eerie and with a subtle morbid twist.
The track listing is:
1. 1917
2. Dresden
3. Oblivion Reloaded
4. The Animal Within
5. They Forgive Nothing
6. Lorelei
7. Maaemo
8. Fata Morgana
9. Anathema
10. The Walking Dead

Sound Storm Premieres New Video "Forsaken"
Unleashing the third studio album "Vertigo" in Europe last December via Rockshots Records, Italian symphonic metal act Sound Storm announced the album will be officially released in North America on October 13th. Digital and CD album pre-orders for North America available on Amazon at this location.
Check out our review of the album over at this location.
In celebration of the release on North American shores, the Italian opus masters have teamed up with MetalUnderground.com for the exclusive world premiere for the new video clip "Forsaken," which was filmed during the band's performance at the 2016 Lucca Comics and Games, one of Europe's largest comic cons.
Check out the clip in the player below.
"Vertigo" was produced in the Netherlands at Sandlane Recording Facilities by Joost Van Den Broek (Epica, Ayreon, Xandria) and is something more than a metal album, the music has a cinematic purpose. The overall concept of “Vertigo” is a Victorian - steam punk story, firstly based on Dante’s Inferno idea and then developed to a more psychological/introspective tale. Gabriel is the main character of the story, an unsuccessful composer who becomes a scientist, starting a war against his troubled mind and forcing himself to destroy everything beloved. The only handhold seems to be a mystic dragonfly, leading Gabriel among the floors of a huge spiral staircase.

Decapitated Case: Attorney Shares Legal Insight
Though he’s not connected with the Decapitated case, MetalSucks recently interviewed NYC criminal defense lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman to get a better understanding of the ongoing legal situation. According to the latest reports, the band remains held in an LA county jail awaiting extradition to Spokane, WA, where it is facing a charge of first degree kidnapping. That charge stems from allegedly holding two female fans on the band's tour bus against their will back on August 30th. The band members have also since been accused of gang raping one of the women.
Criminal defense lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman does provide an overview of what the band members are potentially facing, which could be over a lifetime prison sentence if they are convicted. The maximum sentence for the kidnapping charge is 20 years to life and with a potential rape charge included, those numbers could quickly rise. However, it is noted that if convicted the average sentencing guidelines would have then facing under 8 years in prison.

My long journey with Metalunderground began nearly a decade ago. Obama wasn't President yet, and I still had a day job. I was tired of people screaming at me on the phone over problems with their cell service that I hadn't caused and had no ability to fix. It was time for a change, so the wife and I decided to give a big old middle finger to the daily grind and dive headfirst into freelancing online.
It wasn't long after getting in touch with Deathbringer that I found myself in Seattle on a tour bus shaking hands with Mikael Akerfeldt and blathering like an idiot about what a big fan I was. Its an experience I'll never forget, seeing a legend in the flesh and learning what his daily life was like while performing across the country. I was so star struck I accidentally left my audio recorder on the bus after the interview and didn't get it back until after the show. I've got a good half an hour of Mikael on the phone talking to family in Sweden that I'm never going to delete.
Never in my life did I figure I'd be talking to Kyle Gass about the death of Dio and whether there might ever be a Pick Of Destiny 2, but there I was on the phone with one half of Tenacious D chatting about legalizing drugs and how mortality sucks. Phone calls with lifelong idols like Emperor's Ihsahn and Vorph from Samael became semi-regular occurrences. I actually ended up discussing the infamous “Jesus is a cunt” t-shirt directly with Dani Filth.
The Metalunderground of those golden days feels like a completely different era now. I remember back when every Avenged Sevenfold or Slipknot thread had 150+ comments and became any given reader's personal chat room. That time Deathbringer made a forum link on the main page as an April Fool's joke (royally pissing off everyone who wanted a message board long before we actually had one) had me in stitches while fending off angry emails.
Looking back at those days, I think of shirtless Wilco and his creative grammar. Regulars like americanpatriot1 and Gorecunt keeping conversations going. InfernoNecrosis oversharing about bodily functions. KMADD and Korndogg trolling. The constant cry of “That's not Rob Zombie!!” All those times I accidentally wrote “Mike Porntoy” or “Windows Of Plague” in a headline. Branded or Kali getting into massive fights with anyone about anything. Blindgreed1 coming up with ever more inventive insults to anyone who would dare besmirch the Metalunderground name or anybody who called MU home.
If you got past the hazing phase, you were a regular – you were on of us, and that meant something. Those were the days of R10 and Wolf, Natsquatch and Cozen, BrunoHockalugie and Jackrum, Terminator and BrianSD, IrishMetal and Trendkill91, PorcupineTreeFan and IrishMetal, Fuck_A_Name and Drum_Junkie (who blessedly has stayed active). Whoever thought a grown man could look back at a forum thread titled “I'd put my tongue in her butt” and feel nostalgic?
It wasn't just the readers that made us into that powerhouse of metal though, it was also the contributors. It was Vicky bringing absurdly underground pornogrind bands to the world's attention. It was CROMCarl's pun-tastic reviews. It was James (Cynic), Zack (zMETALlica), Peggy (darkstar), Cody (The_Avant_Garde), Dan (heavytothebone2), Kevin (n0thinghead), Joel (bloodofheroes), Andrew (remembermetal?), Matt (Dasher10), psythe, and more turning this thing into a community. All the while there was Deathbringer keeping us together and introducing me to bands like Acid Bath. More...

Deliverance Signs With Roxx Records

Foscor Releases Drum Playthrough Video
In advance of a forthcoming tour due to kick off in early October, Foscor just launched a drum playthrough for the track "De Marges I Matinades," which is taken from the band's fifth full-length album, "Les Irreals Visions."
Foscor vocalist Fiar comments: "The song title refers to life's opportunities when we are taken to our limits. The image of a new dawn at the edge of the world speaks of a personal struggle, and how after suffering we should be able to see a door to open at the corner. There is also a sort of challenge for the drums... well, the result speaks for itself about our privilege of having Jordi F. taking care of them."
Drummer Jordi F. adds: "A song, which from a personal and technical standpoint, required an extra effort in order to create a rhythmic base that could fit the in-crescendo dynamics of the song. On an almost constant syncopated leitmotiv, placing the right amount of strength and cymbal hits to make them commune with the music was almost fully improvised - and hence an interesting exercise. Every time, I listen to or play this song, I feel like adding something new." More...
