Machine Head To Split Up
In a ten minute long video posted on Facebook, Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn has announced that the band will split up following a farewell tour. In the video, Flynn stated:
"I'll get right to it. On Monday night, Phil Demmel quit Machine Head and yesterday afternoon, Dave McClain quit Machine Head and Jared kinda quit but didn't know if he was quitting for sure. The tour is still going to go on. We have all agreed to make this a celebration of our music and this era of the band.
"We have grown apart as people. Musically we've grown apart. I have held on too tight to the reigns of this band and I have suffocated those guys. I have some rough edges, which have given us success as a band but they've also hurt the people around me. I have a lot of drive but I have a lot of anger and rage, which has alienated folks in the band. More...

Raven: "A New Album's Coming!"
The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal produced and shed light on some of the most beloved bands in British rock music, many of whom are still going today. While some were flash in the pan or found success short lived, others not only experienced longevity but have been cited by peers and younger generations as a strong influence. One shining example of the latter is the legendary Geordie trio, Raven. Since their debut album, "Rock Until You Drop" in 1981, they've been praised by the likes of Anthrax, covered by such bands as Kreator and even took Metallica out on their first tour.
This month, I sat down with the band's vocalist/bassist John Gallagher, who along with his brother Mark (guitars) has been the driving force behind the group for over four decades. In the interview, we discussed new material, the use of crowdfunding, the legacy of the band and more. You can watch the conversation in full below, while an excerpt regarding new music reads as follows: More...

Suidakra Reveals New Album Release Date
German Celtic metal veterans Suidakra has announced that their new album, "Cimbric Yarns" will be released through AFM Records on November 16th. Instead of their characteristic bombastic melodic death metal, the musicians impress with an acoustic, ambient masterpiece that takes the audience into a mystical land far before time.
Based on a fantasy world which was created during the artwork/soundtrack collaboration between the painter Kris Verwimp and Antonik on Realms Of Odoric, the Belgian artist explains: "Continuing the Realms Of Odoric saga, Cimbric Yarns harks back to where it all began. Thousands of years before Odoric’s time, there existed an advanced civilisation that perished in a great cosmic cataclysm. Cimbric Yarns is an attempt at recreating its mythology, inspired by ancient Celtic texts and megalithic sites from all over the world. It weaves a fine thread between history and fantasy, chronicling the fate of its main characters Cruàc, Arma and Aenea in 10 compelling acoustic songs." More...

Phil Anselmo Guests On New Sigh Song
Japanese avant garde metal legends Sigh has revealed that their latest album, "Heir To Dispair" will be released on November 16th through Candlelight/Spinefarm Records. The band has also premiered a new song, "Homo Homini Lupus" featuring Down/Superjoint/ex Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo, which can be heard when pre-ordering the album here.
While the previous album "Graveward" (2015) was rather symphonic orchestral stuff, "Heir to Despair" is pointing at the completely opposite direction. Heavily inspired by old crazy progressive bands like Brainticket, Embryo, Agitation Free, Between, Gentle Giant, Os Mutantes, Modulo 1000, Black Widow, etc.,"Heir to Despair" turned out to be a heavy, psychedelic and exotic album filled with vintage keyboards and flute.
"Homo Homini Lupus" is the first track to be shared from the record featuring guest vocals from Phil Anselmo. Vocalist Mirai Kawashima comments,
"Homo Homini Lupus" is one of the fastest and the simplest tracks on "Heir to Despair". Don't expect other songs to sound like this. "Homo Homini Lupus" means "Man is wolf to man" in Latin. Thomas Hobbes referred to this verb to describe how men would act in the state of nature before we were civilized. The world shown in "The Walking Dead" series should be the best example of what we truly are. Men become wolves, or should I say men are wolves in their real nature. Look what our ancestors did during the wartime! Look what our ancestors did during famine! We have own wolves inside." More...
