Korn Ask Witnesses To Come Forward After Death
Korn offered their condolences Wednesday (August 2) to the family of Andy Richardson, who was beaten during a stop on their Family Values Tour on Sunday night and died on Tuesday from the injuries.
"All the bands on the Family Values Tour offer their sincerest condolences and prayers to the family of 30-year-old Andy Richardson," read Korn's statement.
Richardson was beaten by two men at the concert and fell, seriously injuring his head. He was then taken to a local hospital and declared brain-dead by doctors following the incident at Atlanta's HiFi Buys Amphitheatre on the second stop of this year's Family Values Tour.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Richardson was pronounced dead at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, though his body was being kept alive to find recipients for his organs. Eddie Arellano, a friend of Richardson's who attended the show with him, said Richardson had been confronted earlier in the evening by a rowdy group of men who were "just way too drunk. They had too many fights." One of the men tumbled down a hill and crashed into Richardson's group of friends, which WSB-TV reported included a pregnant woman and a mentally impaired child.
Another friend told the paper that a brief scuffle ensued and the men returned later and took Richardson's baseball hat. "When they took his hat he stood up and said, 'We've already had a fight. I don't want to have any problems,' " Arellano said. "The guy threw the hat back at him. And when he [Richardson] caught it, the guy hit him in the face and he [Richardson] hit the ground and hit the concrete with the back of his head. He just collapsed." Arellano said the person who threw the punch then ran off with his friend.
According to Korn's statement, the incident occurred during the Deftones set, "before tour headliners Korn took the stage. Korn are appalled at the actions of these men and are imploring anyone who witnessed this senseless act or has any information about the attack to please immediately come forward by contacting local authorities."

Gwar E-Card of 'Beyond Hell' Available
GWAR has been pretty busy this summer, most notably destroying town after town on the Sounds of the Underground tour. The band is set to release their most crushing release yet, "Beyond Hell", on August 29th via DRT Entertainment. An e-card has been made available streaming four tracks off the upcoming album at this location. There will also be a deluxe limited edition released of the album, which includes expanded artwork and behind-the-scenes footage, as seen on the SlavePit TV weekly summer web series at this location. The DVD was produced by the New York-based video staff of "Metal Injection", and includes, for the first time, behind-the-scenes footage of the creation of the new costumes, as well as hilarious footage of GWAR in the studio recording with producer Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD)
The band recently shot a video for the lead single off the record, a cover of ALICE COOPER's "School's Out". The video should be available shortly, but in the meantime, director David Brodsky of My Good Eye has made photos/screen caps from the video available here.
LoG Crash Kid's Birthday Bash For 'Redneck' Video
MTV caught up with Lamb of God to talk about their latest video for "Redneck" off their upcoming album "Sacrament." In the video, Lamb of God crashes a kid's birthday party.
"There are only so many videos you can make with you standing around a warehouse looking tough," guitarist Mark Morton explained. "We've done a couple of those, and we've done some live videos, too. But for this one, we wanted to do something different, so we just did a take on the old, classic '80s videos that were kind of spoof-ish. It has a little bit of a Twisted Sister vibe to it."
The video for the first single from Lamb of God's forthcoming LP Sacrament was directed by Bill Fishman (Eagles of Death Metal, the Ramones). It begins inside a picture-perfect suburban living room, where a father is playing "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on his acoustic guitar for his young daughter's birthday. The child's mother flips through the phone book, looking for a band to perform during the girl's birthday party. She finds an ad for Lamb of God, and calls to book them.
The band rolls up in their tour bus, which is packed with scantily clad strippers, and disrupts all the balloon-animal and piñata merriment. By the end of the video, Lamb of God are laying an offensive, hard-as-nails set on the partygoers, sending all of the frightened tots running with hands cupped over their ears.
The reception to the video, Morton said, has been positive — the reaction from the fans has been overwhelming. He hopes the same will be true for Sacrament, which hits stores August 22. The guitarist added that, when it comes to album sales, it's really out of his band's hands — so he's not about to lose any sleep over it.
"It's not really our job to sell records — that's the label's job," he said. In 2004, the band's major-label debut, Ashes of the Wake, opened at #27 with more than 35,000 sales; the LP has gone on to sell 256,000 copies. "Internally, all five of us, we rally around the fact that this record is exactly what we wanted it to be, and we feel like it's tougher and tougher to get better in this band. Each time we make a record and we feel we've improved it's a big success for the five of us. From there, how many units it sells, what the fan response is — those are all secondary elements. Do I expect it to be a top 10 record? I don't know. If it is, that would be great. I won't lie and say it wouldn't be exciting to have a commercially successful metal record. But at the same time, that's never part of the agenda."

Bloodbath Parts Ways With Dan Swano
Swedish death metal supergroup BLOODBATH has issued the following update:
"Dan Swanö is no longer part of BLOODBATH. The reason being restrictions on his behalf to devote more time and effort to the future of this project that it would require by taking things to the next level i.e. touring and playing live. Moreover, his future vision for BLOODBATH's concept proved to head in the almost opposite direction as his desire for death metal was to be of a less brutal kind, something the remaining members regard as musical differences not interesting to pursue, so at these crossroads, we'd like to wish Dan Swanö good luck with his future endavours and with the music that's closer to his heart. The audition for BLOODBATH is closed. We thank everyone who tried out, but it's with dashing hopes we have to announce there's no suitable replacement that matched our expectations. It was surprising, how so many applications could barely be listened to because of the extreme low quality in talent. We found it shocking to say the least, that same applicants would send us emails claiming they 'killed' both of our previous singers, but all they could achieve at the end of the day was our laughs or sighs. Well, one day we can maybe throw together a little compilation of those efforts and put up an exclusive mp3 right here and you'll be the judge, or have a good laugh or sigh, like us! But this doesn't mean all the applications were bad, actually a couple of them were damn fucking good, but criterias on other levels failed. Life goes on and so does death!" More...
Corey Taylor In Depth On Bush, Music and More
MSO PR has issued the following question-and-answer session with SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor:
Q: Let's start with "Through Glass", the first single from "Come What(ever) May". What inspired that one? Where were you when you wrote it, if you can remember?
Corey: I remember exactly where I was. It was 2004 and I was on tour with SLIPKNOT. I was sitting in a European hotel room watching a music video channel, seeing act after act after act of this inane, innocuous, plastic music. They were plastic, bubbly, gossamer-thin groups where it was really more about the clothes they wore and the length of their cheekbones than it was about the content of the song they were singing.
It really made me mad. I was like, "Is this it? Have we just gone full circle? Did the singer/songwriter revolution never happen?" Is it just the same drivel from the same replicant over and over again? "Through Glass" is really a very angry song. It's me basically calling "bullshit" on pretty much everyone involved with the "American Idol"-type shows. It has its place, but when you're basically cornering the market and making it very hard for anyone who actually writes their own music to get ahead, then it's wrong and that's really why I wrote this song.
Q: The video for "Through Glass" takes place in the most plastic of scenarios: the cliché, vacant, Hollywoodesque party… More...

Photo Of Slayer's Offensive Bus Benches Online
BLABBERMOUTH.NET has obtained a photo of one of the offending SLAYER bus benches scattered throughout the city of Fullerton, California which have caused city officials to demand their removal. The 17 bus benches, which "went up" this past weekend, are promoting SLAYER's new album, "Christ Illusion". This past Monday (July 31), the city officials called the company that the group's record label (American) hired to put the ads in place, demanding that they remove the SLAYER ad/artwork, reportedly because they did not like the name of the band, which they feel refers to a murderer. They are also apparently offended by the antichrist and skull logo on the bench artwork.

New Megadeth Album Artwork Posted Online
The artwork for the upcoming MEGADETH album, "United Abominations", has been unveiled as part of the Gigantour e-card. Check it out at the MEGADETH fan site Rattlehead HQ. The e-card appears to use one of the Vic Rattlehead (MEGADETH mascot) redesigns from the DeviantART contest that was held back in January/February. This entry appeared in the Top 11 but did not win the contest. The Vic that appears to feature on the cover of "United Abominations" can be found here.
"United Abominations" was recorded under the watchful eye of mainman Dave Mustaine and co-producer Jeff Balding. The initial studio sessions — held at Sarm Studios, outside of London — were filmed by director Michael Sarna (ANTHRAX, OBITUARY) and are available at Megadeth.com to fan-club members. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "United Abominations", "Washington Is Next" and "Gears of War". An October 31 release via Roadrunner Records is expected.
MEGADETH's last CD, "The System Has Failed", has sold more than 180,000 copies since its September 2004 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. MANOWAR were forced to reschedule some of their previously announced European dates earlier in the year due to an unfortunate accident involving MANOWAR guitarist Karl Logan. "Our first concern was to be sure that Karl was in good condition," MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio said at the time. "As soon as we were certain Karl would be able to play again in the near future, we wanted to give our fans as much information as possible to keep them abreast of plans for the tour."
MANOWAR has sold over eight million records worldwide. The group's last studio album, "Warriors of the World", was a critically acclaimed chart-topper in Europe, reaching gold status in Germany.

NOFX Comments On Underoath's Departure
Since Underoath announced last week that they'd be leaving the Warped Tour to focus on the bandmembers' friendships, there has been a load of speculation regarding the move. The most popular explanation making the rounds blames NOFX frontman Fat Mike for their departure. Fat chance, Mike said in a statement Monday night. "As much as I do like controversy, there really isn't any to report on this subject," he wrote. "Underoath have left the Warped Tour, and as much as people want to give me credit for that, the truth is they just really needed a break apparently. Some people have suggested that they bailed because I made too much fun of them [for their religious beliefs]. Problem with that theory is that I have made fun of plenty of bands on this tour. I have also taken plenty of jabs at Christians, Jews, Buddhists and Muslims. I feel I am an equal opportunist when it comes to getting laughs from an easy target."
GNR Wrap Up Tour, Sebastian Bach Steps In
Guns N' Roses' 32-date European trek concluded over the weekend, and now frontman Axl Rose plans to return to the U.S. for a road trip this fall. "We have had an amazing tour and it has been fantastic for the band and I to experience this," Rose said in a press release. "I approached this last show with equal parts determination, obligation, responsibility and insanity. It was an amazing night. I want to thank everyone in Europe and the U.K. for inspiring us and for giving us the opportunity to play for them. We are now looking forward to the U.S. in September." No U.S. tour dates have been revealed. The final stop on the GN'R European tour, Sunday night's gig at London's Wembley Arena, nearly didn't go off. Rose was diagnosed with low blood pressure and low blood sugar on Sunday morning, and became ill after performing two concerts the night before. A physician advised that the frontman skip the stage that night and be admitted to a hospital instead. Rose responded with a "F--- that — I have a show to do and I am not missing it," the release said. He did make it through much of the band's two-hour set before collapsing. Sebastian Bach took over for Axl to perform the show's encore, "Paradise City."

More Details In Korn Concert Beating
Andy Richardson, who was badly beaten in a fight at a Family Values concert, has since passed. More details about the events that lead to the fight and his death have been revealed. Here are some excerpts from an AZCentral article adding to what had already been reported here:
"We just went out there to have a good night," said one friend, Eddie Arellano. "It was starting off fun. And then this whole thing turned into a nightmare."
According to Arellano and others at the concert, there was a group of rowdy men at the show.
"These guys were just way too drunk. They had too many fights," Arellano said.
Earlier in the evening, some of the rowdies tumbled down a hill, crashing into Richardson and his friends. There was a brief scuffle, according to Bernice Averil, who was in Richardson's group. A little later, the rowdies returned and one of them snatched Richardson's cap.
"When they took his hat he stood up and said 'We've already had a fight. I don't want to have any problems,' " Arellano said, describing the moments just before the punch. "The guy threw the hat back at him. And when he (Richardson) caught it, the guy hit him in the face and he hit the ground and hit the concrete with the back of his head. He just collapsed.
"His face was bloody. It was bad. It was horrible," said Arellano, who was Richardson's roommate.
The person who threw the punch and that person's friend ran off, Arellano said.
Atlanta police spokesman Officer Steve Coleman said homicide detectives "have people of interest" but no arrests had been made. Police have a "vague description" of the person who threw the punch, according to Sgt. Kevin Iosty.
Jack Gannon, a spokesman for House of Blues, a California-based company that has a sponsorship deal with what's now called HiFi Buys Amphitheater, said the incident was "unfortunate and tragic" and that the company is "cooperating fully with the Atlanta Police Department investigation."
