Leukorrhea Return From Temporaty Hiatus

Leukorrhea is back and had this to say:

"After almost a year long hiatus, Leukorrhea will be back to work sometime in September. Nate left the state for almost a year, and will be moving back in two weeks. While the band was on temporary hiatus we picked up a new member. We'd like to welcome Rob Brown into the fold. Rob played in MA based death metal band Teratism (RIP) and currently has a project called Whoremastery. It's great to have him playing with us, he filled in at the '05 Sick Shit Fest in NY for us and killed."

"We are looking for reviews that may have been done for the "Breeding Salvation" cd. If you have done one or have seen one somewhere please let us know so we can grab a copy of them, appreciate it!!!"

"We should hopefully finish writing for the new CD sometime soon, as well as getting back in the weekly practice routine. Mike and Ron have completed 12 tracks, now it's time for Nate to get to writing the lyrics (time for me to get off my ass I guess, they got a bit ahead of me). No idea on when it will be coming out/recorded or who it might be with but maybe in a few more months we'll have a better idea."

Slayer Pulls From Monterry Mexico Festival

Los Angeles thrashers SLAYER have cancelled their previously announced appearance at the third edition of the Monterrey Metal Fest, set to take place Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Coca Cola Auditorium in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. SLAYER, who were scheduled to headline the event, cited "personal reasons" as the cause of the cancellation.

This year's Monterrey Metal Fest is being billed as "Hell and Heaven United" due to the fact that the festival will include appearances by reunited Christian hard rockers STRYPER and Satanic death metallers DEICIDE. The concert, which promises to be the "biggest and baddest version yet," will feature eight of the biggest names in heavy metal music from all over the world on the main stage and 12 up-and-coming international and Mexican bands on the second stage.

"Christ Illusion" first-week chart positions:

Germany: #2
Finland: #2
Canada: #3
Sweden: #4
USA: #5
Austria: #6
Holland: #8
Australia: #9
Norway: #10

The Beatles Go Metal?

On October 24, 2006, Restless Records will release "Butchering The Beatles" — featuring the biggest, the baddest, the heaviest all-star line-up ever assembled to honor what is arguably the greatest band ever — THE BEATLES. All-in-all, over 50 internationally known recording artists bring their unique bone-crushing slant to these remarkable songs. Produced by Grammy award-winning producer/guitarist Bob Kulick and ace engineer Brett Chassen, "Butchering The Beatles" features 12 new, ass-kicking versions of THE BEATLES' chart-topping hits, including "Hey Jude", "I Feel Fine" and "Day Tripper", plus the more esoteric "Hey Bulldog", barked out by the legendary Alice Cooper and "Tomorrow Never Knows", uniquely interpreted by the iconic Billy Idol, alongside classic concept songs like "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and "Magical Mystery Tour".

When asked by Guitar Player magazine what possessed him to go all metal on THE BEATLES, Bob Kulick stated that, "BEATLES songs are the Holy Grail. They're the best rock songs ever written. These new recordings are totally faithful, yet completely different. Billy Gibbons singing 'Revolution' or (MOTÖRHEAD frontman) Lemmy singing 'Back In The USSR' are not exactly Paul McCartney or John Lennon. And of course, the guitar solo sections were lengthened to accommodate all the artists' solo styles."

Pending Murder Trial In 'Korn Concert' Killer

Bill Montgomery of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that a 25-year-old Douglas County man was bound over to Fulton Superior Court on felony murder and aggravated assault charges Tuesday in the death of an Atlanta man during a fight Aug. 1 at a KORN concert.

Bond for Michael Scott Axley was set at $40,000, and Judge Richard Hicks ordered him to stay out of Fulton County except to visit his lawyer. Hicks also imposed a dusk curfew and said Axley could not consume alcohol while free on bond.

The victim, 30-year-old Andy Richardson of Atlanta, was attending a concert by KORN at the HiFi Buys Ampitheater.

Atlanta police homicide Detective Brett Zimbrick testified at the hearing that Richardson was knocked to the ground by a punch from Axley, fatally hit his head on the concrete floor at the former Lakewood Ampitheater and was punched twice more as he lay unconscious.

Queensryche Talk About Charity Bike Rides

Launch Radio Networks reports: QUEENSRŸCHE is getting ready to start a North American tour for its "Operation: Mindcrime II" album, but it's also got something else in the works. Frontman Geoff Tate and guitarist Mike Stone will be hosting motorcycle rides with fans throughout the tour to raise money for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, which supports music education programs across the country. Tate is a friend of Buell Motorcycles head Erik Buell, who made matching QUEENSRŸCHE bikes for Tate and Stone to ride. To get in on a ride, go to Queensryche.com and make a donation.

Tate told Launch that the idea for the charity rides came from his wife Susan, after she heard him talking to Stone over breakfast one day about what they miss while on the road. "We were lamenting the fact that we never get to ride our motorcycles very much when we go on tour," he said. "So she's listening to this and says, 'Hey, why don't you guys take your bikes on the road, and we'll have some sort of, like, contest, and maybe we can involve a charity with it.' And we talked to Erik and he said, 'Oh yeah, I'd like to donate some bikes, and I'd like to ride with you on a couple of those dates, too.' So we all started brainstorming this out, and before you knew it, here it is."

The QUEENSRŸCHE tour starts Friday (August 25) in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

QUEENSRŸCHE recently announced plans to record and release a double live album recorded on its current "Operation: Mindcrime II" tour. Tentatively titled "Operation: LIVECrime II", the set will include a live production of the original "Mindcrime" on Disc 1 and a live production of "Mindcrime II" on Disc 2.

Rhino Records has set an August 29 release date for the reissue of QUEENSRŸCHE's 1999 effort, "Q2K". The remastered and expanded version of the album will be available at traditional physical and digital retail outlets and www.rhino.com for a suggested retail price of $18.98. The iTunes version of the album will also feature an exclusive video for "The Right Side of My Mind". The re-released album contains remastered versions of all 11 original studio tracks and includes a pair of songs recorded during the "Q2K" sessions that have never been released before — "Until There Was You" and "Howl". Also included are different versions of two albums tracks: the radio edit of "Breakdown" and a live version of "Sacred Ground", recorded during the "Q2K" tour.

New Godhead Album Will Be First Release For Cement

Just as GODHEAD is emerging as a true international rock attraction, the band roars into its second decade as the first act to release an album on Cement Shoes Records, the new hard rock label distributed by FONTANA/Universal which re-establishes the importance of true artist development.

THE SHADOW LINE, set for release Aug. 29, embraces GODHEAD’s hammering industrial-rock identity with no compromise, resulting in the band’s most melodically potent album since forming in Washington, DC in the mid-‘90s. The newly unrestrained GODHEAD sound is succinctly exemplified on the anthemic first single, “Trapped in Your Lies,” impacting at active rock radio now with early airplay from XM, Sirius and Music Choice and influential radio stations such as WIIL/Chicago and WJJO/Madison.

The politically charged “Trapped in Your Lies” video, with its war-torn imagery, is included on a free bonus DVD featuring a behind-the-scenes documentary and two other music videos that come with the album packaging. Other standout tracks include the incisive ballad “Fall Down” and the haunting “Another Day.” Fans can hear the single and view the “Trapped in Your Lies” video now on the band's web site (www.godhead.com) and on their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/godhead).

GODHEAD will be supporting the release of THE SHADOW LINE as part of a five-week tour with newly signed Cement Shoes label mates Ill Niño and RA, launching in late September.

“This is the first time we were able to create an album completely on our own terms,” says GODHEAD front man Jason C. Miller. “We picked everyone we wanted to work with, and that’s because Dan Catullo, the president of our label, lets the artist be the artist, which is so rare to find. He knows what it means to be an artist and he lets the artists create without stifling them.”

THE SHADOW LINE, the fifth U.S. release from GODHEAD, was co-produced by the band with Ben Moody (Evanescence) and Julian Beeston (Billy Idol, Nitzer Ebb), and mixed by Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach). Joining Miller (lead vocals, guitars) in GODHEAD is Mike Miller (lead guitar), Ullrich “Method” Hepperlin (programming/bass) and new drummer Glendon Crain.

GODHEAD stepped out of the garage for good with 2001’s 2000 Years of Human Error. The band was suddenly in demand worldwide once radio stations and MTV embraced their version of “Eleanor Rigby” and “The Reckoning.” GODHEAD started showcasing its talent as songwriters and players as hits soon began to appear on major motion picture soundtracks such as The Blair Witch Project, Dracula 2000 and the gold-selling Queen of The Damned. Success continued in 2003 with GODHEAD’s Evolver, when the single “The Hate In Me” quickly became an MTV2 hit and also appeared in the movie Galerions: Rion, and “Far Too Long” was featured on CBS Television’s NFL Today.

“We have more opportunities now than we’ve ever had before,” says Miller. “And we’ve got a group of people behind us who won’t take no for an answer … who won’t stop until we get to the next level.”

Cement Shoes Records, formed in 2006 by industry veterans Daniel E. Catullo III (President/Founder of Music DVD company Coming Home Studios), Peter Koepke (former President/Partner of legendary London Records), and Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, seeks to re-establish true artist relationships and development neglected in recent years by major labels. An independent label distributed by FONTANA/Universal, Cement Shoes Records believes the artist comes first and needs to be properly developed through relentless touring and focused marketing efforts to “The Street,” where the true music fans are.

The full track listing for THE SHADOW LINE is as follows:

1. Trapped In Your Lies (3:29)
2. Hey You (4:19)
3. The Gift (4:39)
4. Fall Down (4:19)
5. Push (3:37)
6. Another Day (4:54)
7. Once Before (3:51)
8. Unrequited (3:55)
9. Through The Cracks (4:29)
10. Goodbye (3:41)
11. Your End of Days (4:31)
12. Inside Your World (3:47)

Isis Comment On Upcomming Tour With Tool

ISIS frontman Aaron Turner isn't stupid. He knows his band is certain to get booed by TOOL fans when ISIS head out on the road with Maynard James Keenan's collection of avant-metal cohorts. But that's not going to stop Turner from trying to open up a few minds.

"You're bound to have a larger meathead contingency in your audience when you open for a band as big as TOOL, and we're very aware of the fact that a good portion of the people at these shows will be bored to tears or perhaps even angry while we're playing," said Turner, who also owns Los Angeles-based Hydra Head Records. "There's also a good chance a lot of 'em won't even be there and will be finding their seats as we're finishing up our set. In one way, we're really excited about it, but in another way, we're realistic about it too.

"TOOL are definitely the biggest band we've ever toured with, but I don't feel like it's ultimately going to change things for us that much," he continued. "The hope is that we'll gain some new fans. But there's no delusions that by doing this tour we're going to come out on the other side being a much more popular band. Most smaller bands that open for a bigger band are likely to gain some new fans, but they're just as likely to be heckled off the stage."

ISIS — who got together more than eight years ago — are a monstrous, thick and spiritual assemblage of musical experimentalists whose sound contains elements of heavy metal, punk and hardcore. Their complex compositions make them a perfect fit for the TOOL trek, which winds down September 29 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

"We've done tours with a wide array of bands with the intent of trying to capture a really eclectic audience," Turner said. "I think that any band that has a style even slightly outside the box or a little bit difficult in some way or another, those types of bands — which I see ISIS as being — are more likely to garner a really hard-core following, because it takes a person who's willing to dig beneath the surface to find out about these bands and get intimate with their music. That kind of listener's more prone to a more devoted, almost slavish obsession with a band."

While on the road with TOOL, ISIS will be promoting a pair of new releases: the band's debut DVD, "Clearing the Eye," which will be in stores September 26, and In the Absence of Truth, the follow-up to 2004's Panopticon, slated for release this Halloween. ("We picked a good date to release a heavy metal record, I guess," Turner laughed.) The DVD contains live footage the band started culling back in 2000. "It's the stuff we felt was most representative of us as a band and our evolution over the last few years," the singer said.

Releasing a provocative, cerebral metal album at this time is a smart move for ISIS. With records from MASTODON, SUNN 0))), BOTCH and THE MARS VOLTA (not a metal band, but certainly an outfit metalheads revere) on the not-so-distant horizon, Turner said he considers ISIS part of a movement, perhaps even a revival of progressive rock and metal.

"Metal has been alive and well in the underground forever, and occasionally it pops its head up into the mainstream," he said. "Right now is just one of those times when it's got some more mainstream visibility. We're not ashamed to take advantage of that. But that's not to say that we're compromising ourselves or doing things differently than we have in the past. This is what we like to do. If we can absorb some of the trickle-down from these other bigger bands that are getting noticed at the moment and turn new listeners on to what we're doing, we're certainly going to capitalize on that.

"We want to be the kind of band that demands a certain amount of attention to really grasp the full effect of what we're going for," he added. "The way we approach our writing and the way we record, we purposely bury a lot of elements deep in the mix, so it's like little subtleties and nuances that are unearthed after repeat listens."

After ISIS finish TOOL's North American trek, they'll probably head over to Europe with the band, again in a support role for a monthlong tour. Turner said ISIS also plan to travel to Japan and Australia for some live dates and are working on organizing a U.S. headlining run for either late fall or early 2007.

And believe it or not, ISIS may even have a new album already recorded, one that came together almost accidentally. The band has been rehearsing with Montreal producer/electronic musician Tim Hecker, who remixed several of ISIS' tracks for 2005's Oceanic: Remixes/Reinterpretations.

"We've been recording everything that we've been playing together," Turner said. "It was all largely improvised but based on some really basic premises and parameters. That might actually end up turning into another record for us."

The benefit show was held at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ this past Sunday, September 20th. Just because the concert is over doesn't mean the school still doesn't need your help. Gorgoroth Discusses Problems The Band Faces

Newsweek Poland recently conducted an interview with Gorgoroth guitarist/founder Infernus. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Q: There has been a lot of controversy about your concert in February 2004 in Krakov. Have you ever experienced similar problems (protests, abusive comments in the press, legal charges) in any other country you have visited during your career?

Infernus: No. As a matter of fact, this is to the extent it has developed been quite unique. We have, of course, faced all kinds of hassle during the years out travelling, for instance having members from the special force 'del cuerpo de Proteccion a Personalides Importantes' (PPI) to gas the audience at a gig in San Salvador the year after. It was a rather severe riot where people got injured followed by loads of media attention and amongst others negative critizism. Nevertheless, Poland is unique to the degree the public authorities, district attorneys and others, have been involved, and I guess its the only and perhaps last time in modern history a music band are brought before trial on charges of blasphemy. Say, don't you have better things to use the taxpayers money on in Poland these days?

Q: Recently Mr. Tomasz Dziubinski from Metal Mind Productions was sentenced for organizing your concert in Krakov in February 2004 illegaly. Do you also hold him responsible for not seeing to all the formalities? How would you comment on the accusations directed at Mr. Dziubinski? Is it just another sign of lack of tolerance and opression of Satanists?

Infernus: Hey, I wasnt informed about this. How much did he get? We hold him responsible to the degree we had a lot of work done together that now seemingly will not benefit much any of the parts involved. Morally wise, I hold nothing against him, he is to me only a businesspartner and a producer. I must nevertheless point out that it's generally speaking not a bad idea to mind one's steps. You dance with the Devil, you take what comes.

Q: The famous calfs' heads on the stage of your 2004 concert are said to represent Christians. You claim that everything in your music is a symbol. Are you planning any new, even more original and bold stage settings in Your concerts?

Infernus: Sheeps' heads, you mean? For even the most illiterate, the sheep does represent flock mentality. Flock mentality has many names, and one of them is Christianity, with its contempt for real power and beauty. Even Jesus from Nasareth was on this the same mission. "My name is Legion, because we are manyfold." As I see it he had as a main mission bringing a message of a new time in which ethical sense would take over for the need of the Torah. What we might be planning or not is not to be made public at the time being. The world is, in other words, still not a safe place.

Rob Zombie Won't Be On "Rock Star: Supernova"

"Rock Star: Supernova" host Dave Navarro answered a few fan questions on his blog at 6767.com on Sunday (August 20), including one asking if the AOL Music report that Rob Zombie will be joining him on the couch pretty soon on the CBS show is true. "That is an old story that they chose to run pretty much out of nowhere," he said. "Originally, we were to have guest panelists come up for an outsider's perspective, but the Supernova chemistry on the couch worked out so well, that we scrapped the idea... As cool as it would have been."

Kittie Recording New Album, Start Own Label

Kittie are currently in Retro Media Sound Studio in Red Bank, New Jersey, recording their fourth full-length release.

Industry veteran producer Jack Ponti, who has worked with Bon Jovi, Doro, Baton Rouge, and Alice Cooper, will produce the record. The album will be released on Kittie’s own label, Kiss of Infamy. Kevin Shirley, who has worked with Jimmy Page as well as Slayer, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Dream Theater, will mix the album.

“Starting our own label is an amazing feeling,” said guitarist vocalist Morgan Lander. “We have always been entrepreneurs of sorts, so this path really made sense. I cannot tell you how lucky we are that Jack chose to come out of retirement to do this album with us. He taught us a lot about recording, about how less is always more, about improving sound with different microphone placement, and the importance of focusing on one song at a time. Jack is also a master at arranging vocal harmonies, which is something we have never really experimented with.”

“This album has so many more dimensions than anything we have ever done before,” said Lander. “The harmonies are huge and lush, and the guitars are crushing and complex all at the same time. The bass is smooth and complimentary to the ridiculously fast and precise drums and allows the song to just open up. There is so much more going on now musically rather than two guitars playing the same riffs.”

Some of the song titles for the album are: “Never Again,” “Funeral For Yesterday,” “The Change,” “Breathe,” “Last Goodbye,” “Slow Motion,” and “Flowers of Flesh and Blood.”

“This album is sort of a concept album in a way,” said Lander. “All of the songs were written over a period of about a year and a half and they all revolve around dying, death, and the promise of resurrection. The subject matter is a direct result of what Mercedes and I were going through personally and professionally these past few years - dealing with life on the road, personnel changes, deceit, hopelessness and an overall feeling of "is this the end." Death of one kind or another - be it literally, figuratively, or emotionally - has been at the center of our lives these past few years. But you must have death before you have resurrection and I feel the band is in its resurrection stage - a new hope, a new light and a rebirth.”

Kittie’s yet untitled album will be released March 2007.

New Jersey's The Banner has disbanded. Formed in 1999, the band has released albums with Blackout! Records and most recently, Ferret Music. Vocalist Joey Southside has issued the following statement:

"The saddest thing I've ever had to do is announce that The Banner is no more. After 7 years of playing, writing and recording i've decided its best for the band to simply put it to bed. Some of the members have decided that the full-time touring lifestyle just isn't for them and I cant' blame them. The Banner has gone through a zillion member changes since the its inception but the current line-up was what I most felt "The Banner" should be, with perhaps the inclusion of Garrett. I'd like to thank all the bands we played with, especially Folly, Modern Life Is War, GETREAL, Himsa, Death By Stereo, the Breakout, Mermaid In A Manhole, My Chemical Romance, The Sleeping, Burn the Tyrant, Senses Fail, Ensign, Shattered Realm and god only knows who else, I'm not thinking too clearly right now as I'm quite shitfaced. I'm reasonably sure Chris, Mike and Ian are all going back to school and I'll be continuing doing the comic books and concentrate on my new band Wolvez. Anyway, again thank you to all the kids and people who have supported us over the years, all the people who have gotten us shows or fed us or let us sleep at their homes on tour. Thanks to Blackout, Warmachine and Ferret records for all their help and thanks to our families and girlfriends for putting up with the bullshit. I personally want to thank all the Jersey kids who have stuck by us from the begining. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know or I could ever tell you with words. Your support was a lot more than I deserved."

The Warriors Lose Two Members

Eulogy Recordings has announced the departure of The Warriors members, guitarist Danny Phillips and drummer Donny Phillips. The pair has issued the following statement:

"Juggling a full touring schedule with other projects at home is almost impossible. We're now stepping back from touring to so that The Warriors can continue at full force. It's simply not fair to the band to be at the whim of conflicting schedules. We're in the process of confirming permanent replacements: Dave Priest, our long time friend from Tehachapi (Diehard Youth, With or Without You, Heartriot) will be taking over on guitar. Our friend Matt Anderson from Oxnard (Vendetta, Retaliate) will be taking over the drums. There's absolutely no hard feelings, we remain as great friends with everyone in the band, and we have full confidence that The Warriors will be as strong as ever. Much thanks to everyone who continues to lend their support."

Ozzy Osbourne Announces Two New Studio Albums

Two new studio albums are reportedly being worked on by metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, the first of which is due to make the stores in February next year. Recording the music in May, before the Ozzfest tour, was Mike "Puffy" Bordin (drums), Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (bass) and Zakk Wylde (guitar), with Ozzy now laying down the vocals.

The second album will be the soundtrack to Ozzy's musical, "Rasputin", which revolves around controversial Russian politician, Grigory Rasputin. The album will be released before the show hits Broadway, though no release date is yet known.

Ozzy has been quoted in a recent interview as saying

"We wrote a song called 'Rasputin' (for the 1995 Ozzmosis album), but then it never got used, you know, and then every now and again I'd try to find this tape of songs. We wrote a bunch of songs, and I put this tape on and thought, 'You know what? That would be a great musical.' It kind of grew on its own. It’s the traditional Fiddler on the Roof type of music, plus the kind of Beatley kind of influence. There’s this wonderful song that goes, 'How dark it is before the dawn, the day begins, a child is born'. It’s beautiful. I’m really happy about it. I hope the rest of the world is. I spent 10 years of my f—king life in this thing."
