Ministry To Release New Album In March 2024
As the world continues hanging on by a thread through pandemics, wildfires, climate change, social-political chaos and social media-fueled conspiracy theories, at least there’s Ministry to get us through. Industrial provocateur Al Jourgensen is ready to unleash his latest missives with Ministry’s groundbreaking 16th album, "HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES," slated for release March 1, 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Today, the six-time Grammy Award-nominated multi platinum act gives the first taste of the new material with the official release of "Goddamn White Trash," featuring Pepper Keenan, a song that made its debut on Ministry’s headline tour earlier this year. You can check it out below.
Over the course of 9 tracks, Jourgensen is righteously cantankerous as ever about a fucked up world ripe for a boot up its ass. Like always, he's merely looking around at the same dumpster fire we all are, but he's got a microphone and uses it well to rage on about the state of the world.
"Just like you or anybody else, I’m simply a passenger in this lifetime," says Jourgensen. "I’m watching social changes, political changes, and economic changes, and I comment on them because I do have a First Amendment right. A lot of people say artists and athletes should shut up and play ball. No, I’m on this trip too. If I see something, I say something. That reflects on where each album goes. Instead of staying sedentary and singing about broken relationships, inner turmoil, or whatever is hurting this week, I comment on what’s going on from the perspective of a fellow passenger."
Joined by Ministry’s current frontline of musicians – John Bechdel (keyboards), Monte Pittman and Cesar Soto (guitars), Roy Mayorga (drums) and Paul D’Amour (bass) – "HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES" also has a slew of special guest contributors including Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hutz, long-time collaborator and Lard companion Jello Biafra and Corrosion of Conformity frontman Pepper Keenan. Harm's Way Posts "Devour" Video Online
Hardcore forerunners Harm‘s Way have released their frenetic new single "Devour" which examines the impact of toxic relationships. The band tells: "’Devour' is an expression of self-reflection following the realization that everything that was once there to give has been spent. Led down a path of deception and manipulation, one‘s sense of self has been lost along the way. ’Devour‘ is the process of waking up to your isolation, with actions and purpose that are somehow no longer your own. It‘s a crossroads that can lead you either the rest of the way down, or back to where whatever‘s lost may be found again."
For nearly two decades, Harm‘s Way has evolved from whispered underground favorites to favorite sons with an arsenal of songs that helped shape heavy music‘s trajectory – creating a roadmap for legions interested in “reinventing” themselves. Harm‘s Way has never stayed complacent and constantly morphed shape– absorbing and reapplying influences in new and creative ways to create some of the most well-executed songs in hardcore punk and metal.
And yet, considering the changeling that they and their previous efforts are, "Common Suffering" is easily the most musically diverse undertaking in their catalog. The album beams with incredibly memorable riffs, breakdowns, and impeccable songwriting. The title is a clear nod to the collective experiences of the past three years of chaos, misanthropy, paranoia, disorder, confusion and anxiety, with the band exploring themes ranging from personal struggles with mental health, relationships, political upheaval, corruption, and political power. Atena Shares "Hard Day" Music Video

On the new single, the band state:
"It is truly disheartening to be caught in a perpetual struggle of making ends meet and lacking sufficient personal time to enjoy life instead of toiling away. We utterly despise every aspect of work, detest the routine of attending school, and resent the piercing sound of the alarm clock. Every single aspect of it is overwhelmingly negative."
"Hard Day" promises to captivate listeners with its raw energy and thought-provoking lyrics. The track delves into the struggles faced by the new generation, grappling with the constant battle of balancing work and personal time, despising the monotony of daily routines and yearning for a break from societal obligations. Be there!
Ache Releases "Dark Souls" Music Video
Today, UK metalcore newcomers Ache have independently released their brand new single and music video "Dark Souls," which premiered on BBC Radio 1 Introducing Rock with Alyx Holcombe. Written as a portrayal of the internal battles that so many of us have with our demons, it’s a sinister aural assault full of murky riffs and furious vocals, driven by an unsettling and often erratic delivery.
On the new single, vocalist TJ Smith comments:
"'Dark Souls' is a song about my experiences living with agoraphobia. The feeling of always having something looming over me, lurking in my shadow, and ultimately about being able to break free from its grasp. Some days, a simple thing like leaving the house feeling comfortable in my own skin isn’t so simple at all."
The audio is accompanied by a horror-tinged music video, recorded with Loki Films and starring actor Neal Ward, that renders that feeling into something more literal.
Written, recorded, mixed and mastered by the band with production contributions from Jonathan Worgan of Superlove, "Dark Souls" is the band’s second release. It follows their blistering debut single "Murphy’s Law" which received incredible support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Metal Hammer, Kerrang! Radio, Distorted Sound and more, giving the band an incredible launch ahead of everything that’s coming. With a shared passion for sincere and unfiltered honesty, an open door for creativity and collaboration and an unquenchable thirst to make heavy music, this is just the beginning for Ache. More...
End Reveals New Album Details
End - guitarist Will Putney, vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarist Gregory Thomas, bassist Jay Pepito, and drummer Matt Guglielmo - will release their second album "The Sin of Human Frailty" on 27th October via Closed Casket Activities. The band have also shared the video for the enraged first single "Gaping Wounds of Earth." Watch it below.
"'Gaping Wounds of Earth' is a jarring and chaotic exploration into what it feels like to be uncomfortable in your own skin," the band comment. "The spiral of a broken human continues. As in all our work, there is no light at the end of this tunnel."
Formed in 2017, End's "From The Unforgiving Arms Of God" EP spawned the fan-favourite "Necessary Death," and led to them signing with label Closed Casket Activities. Highlighted by "Covet Not" and "Absence," the band bulldosed the senses with their 2020 full-length debut, "Splinters From An Ever-Changing Face." Brooklyn Vegan hailed "Pariah" as "an absolutely filthy dose of modern metalcore," and Kerrang! went as far as to describe their debut LP as "catharsis fed through a distortion pedal and shaped into a dense, destructive wrecking ball." Perhaps, Invisible Oranges put it best: "These gentlemen have come together to summon a fury seldom heard on any album from the realms of hardcore, grind, and black metal…" More...
Svalbard Debuts "How To Swim Down" Video
Svalbard has released the third single from their forthcoming new studio album, "The Weight Of The Mask," due out on October 6th. The track, titled "How To Swim Down" is Svalbard's most unique and moving work to-date, featuring heart-rending, ethereal violin parts from Liam Phelan, and a profound vocal performance from Serena Cherry.
The track is accompanied by a beautiful animated video, created by Boy Tillkens. The heart-breaking animation is a delicate portrayal of humanity, detailing the tenderness and strength found in existence. You can check it out below.
Svalbard's Serena Cherry commented:
"This song is about the exquisite pain and sorrowful beauty of unrequited love. I think it's the saddest, most heart-breaking song we've ever written. Lyrically, the starting point of the verse is about concealment of adoration, before the chorus gives way to realising and accepting a fate of loving someone quietly from afar.
"I cannot watch the music video for 'How To Swim Down' without crying. Boy has captured the bittersweet emotion of the song so delicately, it's an incredibly moving piece of animation to watch.
"Musically, 'How To Swim Down' saw us dive into unchartered waters with Liam adding many layers of mournful violin parts onto the track. Finally, violins - for the first time in Svalbard history! It feels so exciting to have new instruments on a song. Another first is that How To Swim Down features only clean vocals, no screams. I wanted the vocal delivery of these lyrics to feel as though I'm whispering a secret to someone whilst they're sleeping. My vocals here represent that lonely type of communication, singing to yourself in an empty house. It's a private, selfless love song, where only the listener knows of my heartache." More...
Varg To Release New Album "Ewige Wacht" In October
Varg Germany’s top-notch pagan metal force, returns stronger than ever on their new album, entitled "Ewige Wacht" (Engl. Eternal Vigil), to be released on October 13, 2023 via Napalm Records. With their last and most successful record to date, "Zeichen" (Engl. Signs, 2020, #16 in the German album charts), Varg put the thematic and musical focus completely on their pagan roots. On their brand new brainchild, the wolves follow this path unwaveringly, honestly, authentically and raw, and impressively manifest their reincarnation and matchless standing on top of the scene!
The eighth studio album transports Nordic mythology as well as values like honesty and loyalty. Varg once again shows themselves to be an invincible unit, as the first single and opening track "Immer Treu" (Engl. Always Faithful) already is proof of. Upon very first listen, it becomes apparent how involved singer Fylgja has been in the full album process this time around. Her valkyrie-like singing expands the band's sonic spectrum and forms a perfectly harmonizing contrast to Freki's razor-sharp screams and growls.
Fylgja on "Immer Treu":
"’Immer Treu’ is a song that stands for many things. For fortitude, strength and loyalty. But it also underlines that hate, based on different views like for example in terms of religion, is absolutely bad and senseless. In the end we are all the same and should accept and respect each other. It stands for the freedom to be what we want to be." More...
King Ov Wyrms Premieres New Music Video
The hot winds of Tuscon, USA carry the cold and relentless black metal of King Ov Wyrms to eager metal heads around the world who are ready to dive into the latest album "The Womb Ov Borealis," which takes listeners into new depths of the death and black metal realms. This is their second release, following 2020’s "Lord Ov Thrones" and the band cites that it is a step away, taking no inspiration from anything else and blindly embracing their creativity, forging their own identity and seeing where it takes them. This new look at the band first comes with the single "In Aeons We Spoke" which the band comments on:
"'In Aeons' is essentially the title track for us, it's by far the biggest embodiment of the album and a great entryway into what's about to come. The track starts out with the haunting bellowing sounds of otherworldly entities while we creep in with our instruments to set the stage for the horror we are trying to bring forth. It's definitely the 'attention grabber' of the album, and the instruments going in full force lets you know what this album is gonna give you straight from the beginning."
King Ov Wyrms decided to take a chance this time around and make a music video actually featuring them performing the song even though they are primarily a studio project without a performing lineup. The band wanted the physical presence of guitarist/vocalist Oneirous and drummer Ricky Williams ushering in their new form. They have rebirthed themselves in the fires of chaos and come out even stronger than before with new drive and fervour.
Extreme and dark, "In Aeons We Spoke" is a massive step forward for the band, who have taken on a more diverse writing style and approach to the material. They almost have taken a more progressive approach to the material while staying close to their death and black metal roots. The video is available below via its premiere on SlamWorldwide.
"The Womb Ov Borealis" is set to be released on October 6th. More...
