Former Vicious Rumors Singer Returns To The Band

Get well Ronny, welcome home Brian!

On July 24th within 5 hours of catching a flight to Germany to perform with Vicious Rumors singer Ronny Munroe cancelled by text message. The band still doesn't really know what happened. It must be bad because he won't take phone calls. He released a statement asking for privacy so the band won't try to pressure him for details and they ask that everyone please respect his wishes.

A few days later another text came in, officially stepping down from Vicious Rumors due to medical reasons. All this was a real shock to the band. Vicious Rumors would like to wish Ronny a full and speedy recovery.

With major festival commitments the band called on their former lead singer Brian Allen who within 24 hours picked up 16 songs and totally killed it at the legendary Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany.

Geoff Thorpe: "Brian really saved the day! To find out Ronny was injured and wasn't coming a few hours before his flight was bad enough. It puts us in panic mode for sure... half the band was already in Germany. Brian stepped in like he never left and we had a kick ass show! "

Geoff adds further: "The promoter of the Headbangers Open Air said it was one of the best shows in the 25 year history of the festival"

After the last text from Ronny stepping down it's time to move on. Brian Allen is back! No shows will be cancelled, a new album is on the way. This will be Brian's 3rd studio album along with 1 live album and a live DVD.

Green Lung Announces New Album "This Heathen Land"

The UKs finest purveyors of occult rock, Green Lung, have revealed the details of their highly-anticipated third album "This Heathen Land," that will be released on the November 3rd via Nuclear Blast Records. Alongside the announcement comes the first taste of the record, in the form of single "Mountain Throne," a conflux of pyrotechnic guitar work and thrilling hooks.

Vocalist Tom Templar comments: "We couldn't be more excited to share This Heathen Land with the world. This album is the culmination of five years of work as a band; an odyssey into the weird and wonderful world of British folklore that melds together our myriad influences - classic rock, doom, NWOBHM, horror film soundtracks, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - and fashions something out of them that is utterly our own. 'Mountain Throne' was the first song we wrote for the album, and feels like a natural bridge from the old Green Lung to the new. We've always been inspired by the story of the Pendle Witches, and such an iconic subject required an epic rallying cry of a song - we hope that we've done these folk heroes justice!"

"This Heathen Land" is the most complete manifestation of the band’s vision to date, fulfilling their long-held goal to, in the words of vocalist Tom Templar, "create the definitive soundtrack to the folk horror film in our heads." On "This Heathen Land," the band have forged a sound and identity that is entirely their own, while maintaining the Sabbathian heaviness and addictive songcraft which made their previous albums so beloved in the metal underground. From the cover art to the vinyl inserts and lyrical themes, "This Heathen Land" is a painstakingly-researched and executed heavy metal love letter to the folkloric landscape of the UK.

"This Heathen Land" was produced by Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studios and was mixed by Tom Dalgety (Opeth, Clutch, Ghost). More...

Advocacy Releases New Single "Cut Loose"

Fresh from being signed to Uprising! Records, Danish prog metal extraordinaries Advocacy release today the first single and video from their upcoming album. "Cut Loose" is an epic track with all kinds of moods: from rock subtle melodies and textures to hands-on, prog metal complex patterns.

"'Cut Loose' describes the experience of being sucked into a religion or ideology." vocalist/guitarist Søren Kjeldsen tells about the single. "At first, it is exciting and seductive, but this experience is slowly replaced by cognitive dissonance and meaninglessness. The hard times however may be transitory if one finds the willpower to rise above."

2023 will feature the release of the long-awaited debut album "The Path Of Decoherence," with mixing and mastering done by Frederik Uglebjerg (Svartsot, Trold). The compositions have at the same time become more complex, heavier and melodic, and the band is highly motivated on bringing their musical world to an international audience. More...

Guilt Trip Reveals New Album Details

Manchester’s Guilt Trip have dropped new single "Broken Wings" and announced the release of their second album Severance which is due 22nd September. "Broken Wings" is their third output since joining MLVLTD MUSIC, a label operated by UK metal elite Malevolence.

On the new single, the band comments:
"Guilt Trip have always had major metal influences but we’ve always remained very much a hardcore entity, with 'Broken Wings' and our new record in general we wanted to delve more into the metal aspects of our music, thus instrumentally this song came to fruition. Lyrically the song engages with the concept of faith and whether we deem ourselves worthy of its hand in our darkest days."

After spending many years cutting their teeth in the world of underground hardcore, Manchester’s Guilt Trip are poised to cross over into wider alternative audiences with the release of their second full length album "Severance." Despite touring internationally and accumulating millions of streams, Guilt Trip were long overlooked by the industry. Building a loyal following entirely organically, from the ground up, through nothing but quality music and hard work.

Now, beginning to get the attention they deserve, "Severance" is an obvious progression in what they have previously been known to deliver. You can expect 12 tracks of expertly crafted hardcore influenced metal with the riffing of Machine Head and vocal aggression of Hatebreed. Severance boasts slick and modern sounding production and also a lyrical intelligence, both of which exceed far beyond the standards of many of their hardcore peers. More...

Unearthing the Metal Underground: Luring

Germany’s legendary war/black/death label Iron Bonehead has yet again sniffed out a worthy outfit that deserves attention of dark metal maniacs. Luring’s software effort, “Triumphant Fall of the Malignant Christ” is set for release September 1. The Pennsylvanian outfit has been fairly active on the recording front, spouting its blackened hymns since 2018, issuing a couple of demos and one album, 2022’s “Victory Fires Ablaze Under the Banner of Lucifer” thus far. The unit’s approach is far from original, but it’s devotion to classic second-wave black metal, delivered with a variation of doom and mid-pace, strikes a chord by virtue of its end-of-the-world essence.
