Oak Park thrash metallers THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER were forced to cancel band practice last Friday after drummer Zach Gibson's involvement in alcohol-fueled fisticuffs outside of a small party at his Taylor home. According to Zach, 19, a drunken man, whom he had never met, was making inappropriate advances toward Zach's significant other. It was at this time that Zach asked the inappropriate party to exit the building. Outside, Mr. Gibson was allegedly "swung upon" by the drunken man, and was forced to retaliate. The next morning Zach's hand was reportedly "huge" and he "couldn't hold a drumstick," resulting in the rehearsal cancellation.
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's new album, "Miasma", is scheduled for release on July 12 release via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded with Eric Rachel (NORA, ATREYU, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, BURNT BY THE SUN, EVERY TIME I DIE, GOD FORBID) and Andreas Magnusson (formerly of SCARLET) at Trax East studios in New Jersey. The band have been confirmed for the second stage at this year's Ozzfest alongside AS I LAY DYING, MASTODON, ROB ZOMBIE, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, IT DIES TODAY, and many more.
TIWANAKU, the new band featuring ex-NOCTURNUS bassist Emo Mowery and ex-ACHERON/BURNING INSIDE guitarist Mike Estes, have announced the addition of drummer James "Caveman" Deragowsky to the group's ranks. "James caught right on to the material faster than anyone has in a long time and is now working with us on the new material," Mowery said in a statement. "He has earned his spot in the band hands down!! James is a dependable, hard-working, hard-hitting, skin-beating motherfucker and wants everyone to know that he is going to stick with the band through thick and thin!! TIWANAKU is stronger than ever now!!!"
TIWANAKU's current lineup is as follows:
Emo Mowery - Vocals, Guitar/Bass, Keys
Mike Estes - Guitar
James "Caveman" Deragowsky - Drums
Added Mowery: "We are now seeking a bassist or a guitarist. Whichever we find first I will pick up the other. Vocal capabilities are a plus but not a requirement. Either should be experienced, technically capable, and creative. No drama allowed here!! If you are in the Central Florida area that is also a plus!! If you are interested please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org."
It appears the folks in the ad department at Nike have stolen Minor Threat artwork for an ad campaign. You can read the details below as quoted directly from Dischord.com -
"Many people have now noticed that Nike has appropriated the Minor Threat artwork and logo for a new skateboard demo / ad campaign. To set the record straight -- Nike never contacted Dischord to obtain permission to use this imagery, nor was any permission granted. Simply put, Nike stole it and we're not happy about it. We are not yet sure what options, if any, we have to stop Nike from using our images to sell their shoes, but if you would like to direct your complaints to Nike that would be a good place to start. German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN are currently working on the follow-up to last year's "Reise Reise", tentatively titled "Reise, Reise (Vol.2)". The band recorded several songs during the sessions for "Reise, Reise" which were omitted from the CD's final track listing. During a recent session at a Berlin studio, RAMMSTEIN recorded several more tracks and are currently mixing the combined collection of new material for a full-length album, to be released in September. A statement from the band's management regarding the upcoming collection reads as follows:
"After the production period of the last album, there were many songs which did not find a place on 'Reise, Reise' due to dramaturgical reason but are now completed. This is not unusual. As 'Ohne Dich' derived from the production of 'Mutter', many songs have been sitting to be completed for a year and shall now come to light. Which songs remains to be seen and is up to the band only."
Added a record company representative: "When we were introduced to the tracks of 'Reise, Reise', many fascinating songs were among them, which were suddenly missing on the album. Among others I remember one song, which we all believed to be the first single of the album. The song was 'Rosenrot', and when we had to realize that the band changed their minds and it did not even make it on to the album, we were speechless. The album was perfect nevertheless, but their enormous self-confidence surprised us. Ever since, we hope to see some of the songs from back then released and I am happy that the band could agree on that."
Recorded primarily in Spain (El Cortijo Studio, Malaga), "Reise Reise" (translated as "Voyage, Voyage" or "Journey, Journey") is the follow-up to "Mutter", which entered The Billboard 200 chart at No. 77 back in April 2001.
"Reise Reise" sold 26,716 copies in the United States in its first week of release in mid-November 2004 to debut at position No. 61 on The Billboard 200 chart.
I caught up with The Agony Scene drummer and founding member Brent Masters for a phone interview during a two-day break from touring with the "Dirty Black Summer" tour while on their way to their El Paso, Texas show last week. Not being very familiar with them, the interview was pretty straight forward and should serve as a good introduction to the band. More...
In anticipation to the Sounds of the Underground Tour, I sent a few interview questions via e-mail to one of the bands on the bill – a local Vancouver metal band by the name of Strapping Young Lad. Guitarist Jed Simon took the time to answer these questions: More...

Duncan Patterson (Anathema/Deathcap) has announced a wish to move away from Antimatter after the release of "Planetary Confinement." He will concentrate on his new project, "Ion." Details of Ion, Deathcap, and all other related projects can be found at the umbrella site duncanpatterson.tk. As for Antimatter, Mick Moss will continure the project with a new album for 2006 entitled "Leaving Eden," featuring Anathema's Daniel Cavanagh.
I have decided that Planetary Confinement is to be my departing Antimatter album. This is for my own personal reasons, (per·son·al - adj. Concerning a particular person and his or her private business, interests, or activities; intimate: "I have something personal to tell you"), and nothing to do with anyone else. Feel free to gossip and start rumours though, it will help us sell more cds and that.
Good luck to Mick, and thanks to the many people who have helped and supported us for the past seven years. I'm moving on with a new project 'Íon', for which I have a deal with Equilibrium Music. Anyone who is interested in my future releases etc. can check www.duncanpatterson.com for regularly updated news.
Later this year, antimatter.tk will release a 4-track virtual video E.P. recorded before a live audience during Antimatter's 2003 tour. The following messages have been posted on Rammstein's official website:
Good news: Rammstein are currently working on a successor, which will presumably be called "Reise, Reise (Vol.2)" The management's statement was: "After the production period of the last album, there were many songs which did not find a place on "Reise, Reise" due to dramaturgical reason but are now completed. This is not unusual. As "Ohne Dich" derived from the production of "Mutter", many songs have been sitting to be completed for a year and shall now come to light. Which songs remains to be seen and is up to the band only." A co-worker of the record company remembers: "When we were introduced to the tracks of "Reise, Reise", many fascinating songs were among them, which were suddenly missing on the album. Among others I remember one song, which we all believed to bet he first single of the album. The song was "Rosenrot" and when we had to realize that the band changed their minds and it did not even make it on to the album, we were speechless. The album was perfect nevertheless, but their enormous self-confidence surprised us. Ever since, we hope to see some of the songs from back then released and I am happy that the band could agree on that." During Rammstein's short stop at a studio in Berlin, apparently 2 - 3 additional songs were recorded. The mixing session of the album, which is supposed to be released this fall, already began.
To mark the event of the opening concert of four sold-out shows at the berlin Wuhlheide, Rammstein introduced the first song of their new succeeding album "Reise, Riese (Vol.2)", anticipated in October, live on front of a home town audience. The song "Benzin", presented with fire fountains goshing 20 meters into the air, was euphorically met by the fans and visibly delighted the band
