Long-running Finnish melodic thrash metallers MAPLE CROSS have completed the songwriting process for their third album. "Last writing session was last week and we locked ourselves in the Boogie Cellar for four days and after we got out we had two new songs to complete the material for the album," frontman Marco R.J. writes on the group's web site. "There will be 10 new songs on the album and we won't use 'The Greatest Hit' from 'The Creatures from the North' single.
"Anyways, we don´t have any working title for the album as of yet, but we do have an idea what it´s going to be called. We'll let you know when we've decided something.
"We'll enter the Studio 23 any day now where we'll be practising the songs for as long as necessary and after that it's time to push the record button. Our ex-drummer Aki Karppinen will be the engineer and the album will be produced by us in co-operation with Aki and our ex-guitarist Lauri Tuohimaa.
"We don't know the release date yet and we'll probably decide it after the album is completed."
MAPLE CROSS' second full-length album, "Next Chapter", was released in 2003 via Verikauha Records.
Shaun Luu, a notable individual within the Syracuse music scene, has lost his battle with brain cancer, an illness he's been suffering from for nearly three years. One week before his 23rd birthday, Luu died in his sleep yesterday (June 9th), with his family by his side. There will be a funeral on Monday, and a benefit show will likely take place soon. Luu was the lead vocalist of Glaciers (originally known as Word As A Virus). Rest in peace.
Staind has booked Nathan Cox to direct the video to their new single 'Right Here', the first release from their forthcoming album 'Chapter V', due August 9th. A description on Video Static previewing the treatment said, "This video mixes performance at a grand train station with vignettes that focus on the various people waiting for their trains."

Relocated in Helsinki, Jarva and guitarist Maike Valanne have enlisted Heavy Hiltunen (guitar), Rale (drums) and I.T. (bass), while also bringing in original guitar player Alexi Ranta to play guest lead guitar on one song.
In addition to revamping the group's lineup, THE BLACK LEAGUE have terminated their working relationship with their former record label Spinefarm and have signed a contract with indie visionaries WolfGang Records/MajorLeidén Productions, whose current roster includes HANOI ROCKS, WIGWAM, BLAKE and THE GRAMMERS.
The follow-up to 2004's "Man's Ruin Revisited", "A Place Called Bad" is scheduled for release in the fall.

We will be covering for INCANTATION on the Canadian dates due to immigration problems with Canada. There are also shows booked in between those dates at various locations. JUNGLE ROT will also be performing at this year's Ohio Death Fest 2005 in Lakewood, Ohio.

Already talking with a few very promising labels, but will consider all offers. Interested parties should contact us immediately!"

Brooklyn-based SCAR CULTURE have officially called it a day, according to guitarist John Conley. "Adversity, line up changes and other obstacles have made continuing SCAR CULTURE in good conscience impossible," Conley writes in a statement sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "Thank you for all of your support over the years."

Ireland's Ballyhoo Examiner newspaper has issued the following "correction" to a previously published article: "Lawyers for wild man rock star Lemmy have complained about a story in Saturday's Ballyhoo Examiner entitled 'MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy In Bondage Romp', which told how the 55-year-old MOTÖRHEAD rocker handcuffed his lover to the bed for a three-day sex and bondage session. Mr. Lemmy's solicitors said: 'It was not three days and she was not handcuffed to the bed. It was seven days and she was hung from the ceiling.' We apologise unreservedly to Mr. Lemmy for any damage caused to his reputation."

Fleshcrawl is currently seeking a bass player to replace Tobz. The band states:
Since our longtime bass player Tobz quit the band some time ago, we are looking for a new person handling the deep notes. Apart from above-board playing abilities, creativity, and being a cool guy, you should - of course - be totally into death metal, have power (good stage performance!), time, and be 100% determined. All tryouts will take place close to Ulm (Laupheim) in Germany.
If you fit the description above and have the guts, send an e-mail to --> ImNOTaWimp@fleshcrawl.de or snailmail to --> FLESHCRAWL, Finkenweg 17, D-89257 Illertissen, Germany
A short note to let you know what´s going on at the Red Aim camp these days:
We're still in the process of working on the upcoming album, but the circumstances of the recent news have lead us to a hard but certainly right decision: To the honour of two tragically departed heroes we have decided to throw away all the songs we had composed so far. We will now start to write completely new material for an album that will pay respect to both Giovanni Paolo II and Harald Juhnke. Without these two men Red Aim would probably not exist and we believe that it is our goddamn duty and destiny to pay respect to them.
Reunited Dutch metallers Gorefest have posted the following update on their official web site:
Next month, July 2005 and part of August, we will camp down at the Excess studio in Rotterdam with engineer Hans Pieters to record our fifth studio album. We have about 15 songs to record, of which we will pick about 10 to put on the album. Mixing will be done by Danish knob-toggler Tue Madsen at his home studio in Denmark in August. Tue is known for his work with The Haunted, Aborted, Disbelief, Born from Pain and many others. At the moment we are finishing up on the songs and breaking our heads over how to play them. As of yet we have no title to give you, we'll get back to you on that one. During our stay in Rotterdam, a studio report will be posted on this site on a regular basis. We will let you in on the progress being made and give you an insight in typical recording processes like: girlfriend interference, ego struggle, black eyes, break up, re-reunion, the breaking of strings, drumheads, studio interior, and so on. We've also been added to the Fields of Rock line-up, which is promising to be a great festival!
Ill Nino's upcoming release, "One Nation Underground...", is currently being mixed in the great state of New Jersey. For more detail, frontman Cristain Machado checks in with the following:
WOW. What a week of chaos (mixing, mastering, last minute touch ups, 420). The good news is that the new ILL NINO record is almost complete. As I type, Dan Korneff is giving his final yet magical touches to the last two songs remaining. Dave (Chavarri), Eddie (Wohl), Dan (Korneff), and I have literally been working 15 hour days to make sure this record is the most intense and conceptual NINO release to date. Overall, we have been having a great time. Making a record is still a lot of hard work but nevertheless, we all find the time to throw a good mother joke here and there. Humiliating each other to pass the time seems to be the popular thing to do nowadays. Your mother's so fat...she...
There is no doubt in my mind that all of the ILL fans out there are going to be very proud of this record. The entire band is very psyched about how fucking killer the music and lyrics are turning out. All of the Roadrunner Records staff has been giving us nothin' but love and are doing an amazing job. Not only have they encouraged complete creative expansion, but they also agreed on having Scrap 60 (Anthrax, Ill Nino, Cradle of Filth, Bleeding Through) produce the band. They were involved in the making of our first release, Revolution.Revolucion. and understood the band like no one else ever has. Bottom line, on this record we fucking exploded. We didn't give a fuck about anything other than being what ILL NINO should be: Brutal, intense, cultured, obscure, and slightly demented. I won't waste your time trying to explain the overall concept of the record. The music will speak for itself. After all, that's all that really matters.
In other news, drummer Dave Chavarri joins guitarist Ahrue in the band as being the only two members without dreds. "Yes, I've cut my dreds," tells Chavarri. "Everyone's been sending me e-mails, asking if I've cut my dreds. Well after almost 7 years of dreds, I felt I needed a change, and it was time to cut them off."
Ill Nino's "One Nation Underground..." coming late September
Roadrunner Records has advanced in the process of putting together the ground-breaking "Roadrunner All-Stars" record to mark the label's 25th Anniversary. The full-length release will contain original musical collaborations between past and present Roadrunner artists. Approximately 50 musicians are expected to participate in this record, making it a most elaborate collaboration project.
Four central musicians have been chosen to produce and write all the songs. Previously announced were Joey Jordison (Slipknot), Dino Cazares (ex-Fear Factory/Brujeria) and Robert Flynn (Machine Head). The fourth writer/producer has recently been selected - 19 year-old metal prodigy Matt Heafy will take the lead of the fourth team. His band, Trivium, has been called "the valedictorian(s) of the 2005 metal class" by Hit Parader Magazine. "It blew my mind to be asked to participate on this album and write a few tracks," says Heafy "It's an amazing honor to be able to record with artists that I used to emulate and listen to growing up." These four musicians will not only play on the songs they have written but also assemble a unique team of Roadrunner artists to appear on each track.
Notable progress has been made in Jordison's, Cazares' and Flynn's teams. Music has been laid down, but vocals have yet to be added. The vocalists for the tracks have not been confirmed as of yet. The artists that have contributed to the tracks recorded thus far are: More...

Guitarist Rob Arnold had the following to say about the Six Feet Under Camp:
I am totally excited about the upcoming tour. I have been a fan of SFU since 1995 when the Haunted record hit the streets. I have also been a long time fan of Chris Barnes and his career in general. I'm looking forward to making new friends so I can request to hear my favorite songs live.

Death merchants Paria need a new singer. That's because barker Brian Craig's decided to pull a Rodney Dangerfield and go back to school to "further his education and continue pursuing a career." In the meantime, former Analog frontman Paul Pettit's been called on to substitute during Paria's August tour. It's quite possible he may become a permanent member of the band.
Alabama slammers Haste have spent the last few months writing material for the follow-up to 2003's "The Mercury Lift." The band's completed a three-song demo, and in a posting on its Web site, guitarist Nick Brunson claims Haste have been getting some positive feedback on the tracks. "Most of the people that heard them said they liked it a lot," he wrote. "Maybe that's because I had a gun pointed at them and dared them not to like it."
Alice Cooper will release his new album, "Dirty Diamonds," on August 2. Cooper will also launch a tour with power-pop legends Cheap Trick on August 20 in Cincinnati, with dates running through September 16 in Phoenix.

MTV.com reports that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE frontman Josh Homme has pleaded no contest to assaulting DWARVES singer Blag Dahlia during an altercation at Los Angeles' Dragonfly club in November 2004. On May 23, Homme was put on probation for 36 months, and was ordered to do community service with the Hollywood Beautification Team, enter a 60-day residential drug/alcohol rehabilitation program, complete a level three anger-management class, foot all of Dahlia's legal and medical bills, and stay 100 yards away from the singer, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
