BEAUTIFUL CREATURES have inked a deal with Spitfire Records. The group's sophomore album, "Deuce", is scheduled for release on August 23.
In a recent interview with Glam-Metal.com, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES bassist Kenny Kweens said of the new album, "'Deuce' is a little heavier and I think the songs have grown to a more mature state, not too mature of course; it's only rock 'n' roll, for Christ's sake. We definitely stepped out of our box on a few songs like 'Never' and 'Ton of Lead', but ultimately it still sounds like BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, it still has the same spirit. With this band you can never forecast what direction we will head into. To us if something sounds cool, we go with it. We don't sit down and think, ok, what's big at radio right now. We just do what we do, because we think it's cool and that's all that matters."
"Deuce" was released in Japan on April 21 via JVC Records with the following track listing: More...
M.O.D. frontman Billy Milano (ex-S.O.D.) has made the group's entire "The Rebel You Love to Hate" album available for free download from his official web site (in .WMA format). In a message posted on the site, Milano explains, "I would like to thank the Nuclear Ass [referring to Nuclear Blast Records] staff for their tireless efforts and unwavering support in the non-promotion of M.O.D.'s latest record, 'The Rebel You Love to Hate'. I would further like to state they did such a wonderful job in their non-promotion that I have decided to give away the record for free in recognition of a job not done."
"The Rebel You Love to Hate" was released in 2003 through Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was mixed by Milano and Dan Korneff at Watermusic in Hoboken, New Jersey and mastered at Masterdisk in New York with Roger Lian (SLAYER, POWERMAN 5000).
Norwegian power metallers GAIA EPICUS have announced the addition of bassist Hans Aage Holmen (ex-ENSLAVEMENT OF BEAUTY) to the group's ranks. "This guy is a wizard on his six-string bass guitar, and he can play fast as hell with his fingers," the band write on their web site.
GAIA EPICUS, who are currently seeking a drummer, are scheduled to release their second album, "Symphony of Glory", in July via Sound Riot Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Satrap" was recorded and mixed over a five-week period at Top Room Studios (TRISTANIA, VINTERSORG, BORKNAGAR) with producer Børge Finstad and will feature artwork by Michael A. Mueller (MEGADETH). The CD was mastered at Bazement Studios (MOB RULES, VANDEN PLAS, SYMPHONY X) in Germany.
Germany's highly progressive black metal outfit HIDDEN IN THE FOG have announced plans to embark on a European tour in the fall following the release of their debut album, "Damokles". The group plan to be on the road for about two or three weeks and hit stages in countries like Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France and the U.K. More information will be made available soon.
"Damokles" is scheduled for release on August 15 through the German label Twilight.
HIDDEN IN THE FOG were hailed as one of the hottest German newcomers in 2004 by both Metal Hammer and Rock Hard magazines after the release of their acclaimed "Abstract Maelstrom Paragon" mini-CD.
VREID, the new Norwegian band formed by former WINDIR members Hváll (bass), Steingrim (drums) and Sture (vocals, guitar), will enter Hváll's Studio 1184 during the summer to begin recording their second album, tentatively due before the end of the year via Tabu Recordings. VREID will also be recording a couple of cover songs within the next few weeks for possible use on as-yet-undisclosed tribute albums. More information will be made available soon.
In other news, VREID have been confirmed for the Motstøy festival, set to take place September 3 in Notodden, Norway. Also scheduled to perform at the festival are THULSA DOOM, MYRKSKOG, GRIFFIN, PAIN OF SALVATION and THE CUMSHOTS, among others.
VREID's debut CD, "Kraft", was recorded Studio 1184 and was mixed at Subsonic Society Studio (SUSPERIA, WINDIR, RED HARVEST, DARKTHRONE) in Oslo.
VREID's music is being described as a continuation of the sound and style Hváll had created with WINDIR and ULCUS, but with "its own personal sound — a mixture of the ambience of WINDIR, the rawness of Norwegian black metal and the rocking groove of MOTÖRHEAD." Rounding out VREID's lineup is a guitarist named Ese — a close friend of the VREID members for years, and co-engineer on WINDIR's "Likferd" album.
