This interview was conducted on the evening of June 10th with Mike and Martin of Bobaflex. The interview took place inside the Monkey Bar in Huntington, WV. The club was empty at the time except for the rest of the band (Jared and Thomas) plus crew setting up on stage, along with the club staff preparing the bars before the show. The interview went very well, and as always the guys from Bobaflex are truly cool to hang out with. More...
According to Pause & Play, Geffen Records has set a November 29, 2005 release date for the long-awaited GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy".
"Chinese Democracy" will feature the band's first new music since "Oh My God", the group's contribution to the soundtrack to the 1999 movie "End of Days".
GUNS N' ROSES' last studio album was a covers CD, "The Spaghetti Incident?", which was released in 1993.
In March 2004, Geffen Records issued a GUNS N' ROSES "Greatest Hits" album, which has since gone on to sell 2,195,937 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose and fellow original members Slash and Duff McKagan tried to block the "Greatest Hits" album's release by arguing in a lawsuit that Geffen Records was putting out the CD without their input. Geffen officials countered that they wouldn't have released the album if Rose had delivered the long-promised album "Chinese Democracy", which has been in the works for 10 years.
According to Billboard.com, COLD have finalized the track listing for their new album, "A Different Kind of Pain", due on August 30 via Lava Records. Studios and Virginia's Studio Barbbarosa with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette (CHEVELLE, PUDDLE OF MUDD). The disc reunites the band's with guitarist Matt Loughran, who was a member of the outfit in its pre-COLD days as GRUNDIG.
"Year of the Spider" debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 533,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"A Different Kind of Pain" track listing:
01. Back Home
02. Feel It in Your Heart
03. Anatomy of a Tidal Wave
04. A Different Kind of Pain
05. Another Pill

SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose recently spoke to MTV.com about the recording process for the group's new album, "Next". SEVENDUST's fifth disc, "Next" is the band's first release for the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records after a lengthy stint with TVT Records.
Regarding the songwriting process for the new CD, Rose said, "There was no one really to tell us what to do — and over the past few records, there had been a lot of opinions from a lot of people on a lot of different aspects of the records. We pretty much had the reins to do what we wanted on this record, so we really were able to not worry about any outside influences. I don't want to sound too cliché, but we went back to our roots, because we were able to do some stuff that hadn't been accepted very readily over the last few records.
"Over the last few records, the powers that be were telling us that we didn't need to be doing what we were doing," Rose explained. "We were told, 'You need to be listening to the WHITE STRIPES and the STROKES' — we were told, point blank, to go buy WHITE STRIPES and STROKES records to see what they sound like. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that. It was like, 'Houston, there's a major f---ing problem here.' "
Rose decribes the new album, due on October 11, as "definitely a hybrid of heavy stuff and melodic stuff, but we don't leave much room for interpretation. It's a straightforward record."

The 26-year-old heavy metal fan who passed away during this past weekend's Pressure Festival in Germany died from complications brought about by a pre-existing heart condition and not as a result of injuries sustained while taking part in an aggressive form of slam-dancing, police in Bochum, Germany announced on Tuesday (June 28). The cause of Marco Grewen's death was found to be unrelated to the extreme type of "moshing" called "wall of death," a form of concert dancing where the crowd is split down the middle and on the signal, both sides ram into each other.
The German media had previously reported that approximately 2,000 people took part in the "wall of death" during HATEBREED's performance at the festival. A total of 25 people were reportedly taken to local hospitals to be treated for various injuries — including fractures — sustained during the three-day event.
The "wall of death" was famously popularized by LAMB OF GOD during their Ozzfest 2004 stint where it became a regular part of the group's live performance. [Download a Quicktime video file of the Wall of Death recorded during last year's Ozzfest.]
Clutch's new album, Robot Hive/Exodus, will debut next week at #93 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and #7 on the Independent Label chart. With sales of almost 13,000, Robot Hive/Exodus (their sixth studio album) marks the band’s highest chart debut and biggest first week sales in their 12 year history.
Clutch is currently co-headlining the Sounds Of The Underground tour. The band will be playing material from the new album, including the first single '10001', as the tour crosses North Americathrough the first week of August, and will return to the road in fall 2005 for their own headlining tour.
“This impressive first sales week by Clutch not only affirms the band's continuing relevance within the rock community,” said DRT co-principal Derek Shulman, “but also shows how competitive an independent label like DRT can be with quality rock acts such as Clutch.”
Roadrunner Records is proud to announce the signing of critically acclaimed Dutch goth-metallers Within Temptation for the UK, Australia, and Japan.
Fronted by the nightingale-throated Sharon den Adel, the band is completed by Robert Westerholt (guitar), Jeroen Van Veen (bass), Stephen van Haestregt (drums), Martijn Spierenburg (keyboards), and Ruud Jolie (guitar).
“We are very happy that our new album is being released by Roadrunner in the U.K., Australia, and Japan,” say Sharon and Robert. “A lot of our fans from these countries send us messages requesting a local album release. We wanted to work with a label that understands our music and now we are definitely at the right place.”
Formed in 1996, Within Temptation has released three albums including the platinum album 'Mother Earth' - selling over 800,000 albums in their career to date. Latest album 'The Silent Force', originally released in November 2004, crashed into the Netherlands official chart at #1, and was certified gold a mere three weeks later. Further Top 5 positions followed in Germany (gold), Belgium (also gold), and Finland, with Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, France, and Norway all also placing the album high in the Top 30. A UK release is set for August 29th in brand new CD and CD/DVD formats including bonus tracks and live footage.
In early 2005, with over 400,000 copies of 'The Silent Force' sold in Europe, the band was awarded the Conamus Music Export prize as well as the Edison Award for Best National Band (the Dutch equivalent of the US Grammys & the UK Brits). A TMF Award (MTV Benelux's domestic award ceremony) followed.
Within Temptation are currently on the European festival circuit, appearing at Pinkpop, Werchter, Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park, Sweden Rock, Ruisrock, Aerodome, Wacken, and Gurten. Support slots with Iron Maiden in Paris and Zurich have also been announced. In addition, a special one-off show in Amsterdam on July 22 is confirmed, where the band will perform on an island in the middle of a river for 10,000 fans! In the UK, Within Temptation will headline the annual Bloodstock Festival on September 3. Stay tuned for more dates
The explosive Southern California quintet Manntis recently completed a nationwide U.S. tour with Otep in support of Sleep In Your Grave, their critically acclaimed debut album. The group’s new offering, produced by Cameron Webb (Danzig, Motorhead, Social Distortion), is now available and goes straight for the jugular with its scorching guitar work and pummeling rhythmic assault. Their staggering blend of hardcore and metal is delivered with authority and conviction, proving to the genre’s elite that they will soon be a force to be reckoned with.
Jake Sirokman (vocals) checks in with his thoughts on the release of their debut album:
I just wanted to say we are stoked about our debut album, "Sleep In Your Grave," finally being available to the masses. We would like to thank Century Media for all that they have done for us; we are very excited to be with such a great label. We look forward to a long and hard year of touring our asses off, and we will not let anyone down. Also, look for our new video for “Axe of Redemption” to make its debut on Metal Asylum and Headbangers Ball in late July. Well, that's about it, see you all on the road and make sure to pick up the new album.
Manntis initially gained worldwide exposure via the hit MTV show “Battle For Ozzfest” and the recent “Battle For Ozzfest” U.S. tour. Their influences come from a diverse number of bands, ranging from Meshuggah and Pantera to Killswitch Engage and Zao, to name just a few, and their dynamic sound reflects the combination of these influences. Make no mistake, this is a band that is not content with being television personalities, as their only goal in life is to deliver the music they love to a willing audience. In the process, their determination and talent will quickly help them develop a devoted legion of rabid fans.
