OTEP's June 26 performance at the Bulldog Cafe in Louisville, KY was reportedly shut down by the fire marshall and police due to overcrowding. The following is OTEP frontwoman Otep Shamaya's posting on the band's official web site regarding the incident:
"Even though this show only lasted 12 minutes and 47 seconds, it was obvious to me that it was populated with one of the most intense and passionate audiences we've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If only we would have been able to play the entire set... Wow ... We would have shaken the foundations of the cosmos... But the fire marshall was a complete communist and shut everything down. But I was true to my word and wouldn't leave the stage until the cops were called... I kept singing until they forced us off the stage... The fire marshall shut off the PA during 'My Confession' but the audience kept singing... every... word.
"It was amazing.
"Then the biggest cop I've ever seen pulled Evil J's hand off his bass strings and crowded me saying, 'It's over, it's over.' So I saluted him... saluted the crowd and then I was manuevered off stage and to the bus...
"We will probably be fined and the cops are still outside the bus so who knows what will happen... But I know one thing for certain: WE WILL RETURN, AND TOGETHER ANNIHILATE THE NEOPHYTES."
OTEP's sophomore album, "House of Secrets" (2004), was produced by Greg Wells, who has previously worked with a diverse range of artists, including the DEFTONES, MICHELLE BRANCH, and ELTON JOHN. The follow-up to 2002's "Sevas Tra" was recorded at Los Angeles' Rocket Carousel Studios and features guest drumming on six tracks by SLIPKNOT basher Joey Jordison.

Guitar World magazine recently conducted an in-depth interview with former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
Guitar World: What triggered your decision to quit KORN?
Brian "Head" Welch: "When I started playing in KORN, I began drifting downward spiritually. I became addicted to drugs like methamphetamine. I became rich and famous, although I never thought of myself as a rock star or as being bigger and better than anyone. I loved music, but I found myself at the point where I wanted to die. I didn't care about life.
"I think I hit the bottom when my wife left me while I was on the road. She started partying, bailed out with some dudes, and took my money and left me with our daughter. Then I had to take my daughter on the road with me. The band agreed to pay my daughter a dollar every time someone cussed in front of her. Before I knew it, my daughter was making, like, $100 a day, and I told people to try to chill in front of her. She was getting excited about making all this money, and it wasn't working. I had to put my kid before my career and all the money I was making. I decided to do the right thing. I was dying inside. If I didn't have my daughter, I would be dead right now, for sure. More...
Nasum guitarist, Anders Jakobson, has posted the following message on the band's official website on June 26:
Today it's six months since the Tsunami took Mieszko's life in Thailand. I went to the grave together with my girlfriend and our friend Jimmy who once played in a band with Mieszko and who has been our merch guy on several shows in Sweden. We brought the two orange sunflowerish flowers you see at the bottom of the picture.
Last time I visited the grave I found a baseball hat of the type that Mieszko had by the grave. I though it was one of his old one's that the family had put there but today Jimmy told me that it was he who put that hat there. Apperently Jimmy had asked a store if they had any all black hats and they had ordered some, but when Jimmy went there to buy one the storeowner said that Mieszko had bought all eight hats that had arrived! But the owner found another hat and it's that hat that is beside Mieszko's grave today.
Lately, people have asked me about some kind of memorial merchandise and I'm working on something. I have a design for a shirt that I want to show the other Nasumers before deciding what to do. I personally think the design is quite good and appropiate.
And speaking about merchandise there will be something to order soon... Any day now... And I guess I'll do something new (re-prints) after the summer, or at least after July since the print firm is closed during the summer.
Until then think about Mieszko and his family today and if you haven't seen the memorial page yet, go there now.
