German melodic metallers Edguy have posted the following message on their official web site:
There's not only a 5-track EP "Superheroes" going to come out this year! Edguy plan to release the first official DVD in September, too, featuring different material than what's going to be found on the EP. Besides the video clip of "Superheroes," the DVD will feature various live tracks in 5.1 sound filmed at their show in Sao Paulo during their world tour 2004 when the band flew their whole big stage over to Brazil.
Furthermore there will be a lot of never-before-seen 'behind-the-scenes' footage — they have a camera team filming their recording sessions of the forthcoming EP and album right now. This DVD - that will have plenty of other little features as well - is going to be called "Superheroes - the DVD" and should be out early September.
Commented the band:
You asked for it, so we do it! It will be some kind of a 'special item' for our fans and ourselves to 'soothe the wait' for the new album. We keep you updated on the plans. At this point our record label is considering to change the release date for EP and DVD to September 5th. No problem for us, we are working at full tilt anyway. And it's all feeling so great!
Canadian death metallers Kataklysm will enter the studio on July 10 to begin recording their new album, "In the Arms of Devastation," tentatively due before the end of the year.
"The writing of the album is almost complete and things are going very well. Don't expect any fashion core, no 'roman' haircuts or whining," the band write in a newsletter. "Expect a crowbar to the head. Kataklysm enters the compound July 10th, and a monster will rise from it...we promise."
As previously reported, Kataklysm are inviting their fans, artists and friends around the world to design the cover art for their next album. The band encourages everyone that has artistic skill and has an original vision to submit their work by e-mail at email@example.com. The winning artwork will be selected by Kataklysm and the band's representatives at Nuclear Blast Records. The lucky contest winner will see his/her creation used as the cover of the group's next album as well as on all accompanying merchandise items, where it will be fully credited. All you have to work with is the album's working title, which is "In the Arms of Devastation." The deadline for all submissions is August 1.
