Holy Grail Reveals New Album Details
The Los Angeles-based heavy metal warriors Holy Grail will release third album, “Times of Pride and Peril,” via Prosthetic Records on February 12th, 2016,
The follow-up to 2013's “Ride the Void” was recorded earlier this year with Grammy Award-winning producer John Spiker (Tenacious D, Filter) and encompasses the rise and fall of an empire, showcasing a history of triumphs and defeats through the group’s quintessential shreddery.
This weekend, Holy Grail will kick off a winter tour that includes dates with Death Angel, Flotsam & Jetsam and Night Demon. To kick off the new year, the group will then join master guitarist Marty Friedman on the second leg of his “Inferno” North American tour. Additional dates will be announced shortly. SystemHouse33 Releasing New Album
Performing a blend of thrash, groove and death metal influences, Mumbai's SystemHouse33 has been a mainstay of the Indian heavy metal scene for the past 12 years. Now the band will release fifth album "Regression" in early 2016. You can pre-order the album here and listen to an album promo below.
"Regression" was recorded using guitars from the Washburn Dime series and Dean Guitars, as well as Ibanez basses and Mapex drums. Founding member and vocalist Samron Jude elaborates on the concept behind the new album:
"'Regression' is the paradox of progress; it is the disintegrating world we live in. We are doing more, but feeling worse. Covering the regressive nature of this progressing world, the tracks on the new SystemHouse33 album throw light on the omnipresent, yet rarely acknowledged two-sides of a developing world and how primitive a human being is in actuality. It's not just about the rat race, it's what makes people tread down that wide path of destruction masked in the tantalizing hype of being the only truth along with the alarming acceptance of a superficial life which has no place for morality. With this album, SystemHouse33 wants people to realize this evil around them and stand up for what is the truth." More...

Gozu Signs With Ripple Music
Ripple Music is thrilled to announce the signing of Boston, MA heavy rock quartet Gozu and with it the arrival of third studio album "Revival" in the spring of 2016. The label comments:
"Since appearing on the underground scene in 2009 after the release of their self-titled EP, Gozu have continued to lay down a furious and rare breed of colossal stoner rock. A sound that in recent years has truly come into its own, two albums deep with 2010’s 'Locust Season' and 2013’s 'The Fury Of A Patient Man,' both released on the influential Small Stone Records label.
"Following the critical success of both albums, each likened to early Queens Of The Stone Age and High On Fire (in no small part attributed to singer Marc Gaffney’s impressive vocal work and guitar player Doug Sherman’s monolithic riffs) Gozu quickly came to the attention of Ripple Music who have had a stellar 2015 with releases from Sweat Lodge, Chron Goblin, Geezer and many others."
Gaffney comments: "Todd Severin and Ripple exude class and a family like atmosphere, which was the thing that truly stuck out for us. Besides having a great roster of bands, when I spoke with Todd regarding his label you could hear it in his voice the love he has for music and the actual caring he has for people he is working with. That was when we knew we’d be in good hands.” More...

The Black Moriah Comments on Old And New Material
The Black Moriah were fortunate enough to live near (Dallas/Forth Worth) one of the greatest black metal bands to ever grace the States, Absu. The group is heavily influenced by Absu. The group is no sideline fan of Absu, though, their guitarist Zawicizuz played with Absu on their self-titled comeback albums, one of the highlights of 2009.
While there are similarities to Absu in their music, especially on the title track of “Casket Prospects,” The Black Moriah is by no means a clone. They have their own sound and their own shtick. Samples and tremolo riffs create atmosphere, while drummer The Mad Arab plays a variety of tempos. They’ve brought Westerns into black metal’s narrow fold. When they take the stage, the group dresses like bandits from the old West.
Three years have passed since the release of “Casket Prospects,” and the group is ready to get back in the saddle again. They have a new full-length and tours in the works. Last month, the band played Phil Anselmo’s Housecore Horror Film Festival, where they played the pre-fest party at Korova with other Texas heavy-hitters like Aggravator and Protest, plus Sweden-infused Black Breath. Drummer/lyricist The Mad Arab recollected on “Casket Prospects,” and gave us a glimpse into dusty, corpse-ridden material that is on the way. More...

With more dates to be announced, the first leg of Slayer's 2016 North American tour is as follows: More...

The band comments on signing to Napalm Records: "We are very proud to announce that we will be working with Napalm Records!!! We couldn't be more excited about this development. We feel it's a perfect fit for both the label, and us and we highly anticipate what the future holds. There are many bands which we all respect and admire, that call Napalm Records home; and it is with a great sense of triumph that Hammer Fight will be doing the same from this day forth!"
Napalm Records A&R representative Demetri Benoist adds, “If AC/DC and Motorhead ended up in a shack in the woods and had a bastard love child, Hammer Fight would be it! Raw energy at its best, Hammer Fight’s debut album is going to crush."

Chthonic's Freddy Lim Running For Office
Remember when Chthonic started a political party? Turns out something's actually coming of that.
"Using music to change the world" is a slogan that appears often in the history of rock, however, in Taiwan, a man is turning it into reality: Chthonic lead vocalist Freddy Lim is traveling the road of music to parliament. Oon December 26th, a Formosa Defenders outdoor concert will be held in place of a campaign rally.
Formed in 1995, the Taiwanese band Chthonic, now under the Universal Music/Spinefarm Records banner, features a blend of unique oriental melody and heavy metal music. Chthonic has released eight albums recounting stories of struggles against authoritarian repression that have touched fans around the globe. The band's lyrics have historically focused on accounts of the country's inhabitants fighting against repressive regimes in history that textbooks refused to tell in addition to their public displays of support for social movements and human rights activities, including last year's Sunflower Movement and this year's student protests against the Ministry Of Education's adjustments in high school curriculum guidelines.
Beyond Chthonic, Lim also serves as the lead vocalist of a band that he formed with former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, Metal Clone X, which has released two albums in Taiwan and Japan. Lim has also organized two of the most well known music festivals -- the Formoz Festival and Megaport Festival -- with participation from the likes of Muse, Megadeth, and Moby and was behind the Say Yes To Taiwan and With Justice We Cure This Nation concerts that focused on public issues such as transitional justice. Immortal Comments On Copyright Battle
Echoing previous black metal schisms like the Gorgoroth disaster, Immortal recently split into two entities, with Abbath going his own way in a self-titled project while Demonaz and Horgh continued on with the Immortal name.
After the Immortal trademark case was closed by Patentstyret (Norway’s Patent Office) in November 2015, Demonaz and Horgh can finally share their side of the story for the first time. They comment:
"The conflict was not about anyone leaving the band as Abbath claimed. It was all about his personal problems. He had cancelled rehearsals and ruined the band’s progress for a very long time. We were forced to confront him about it.
"Abbath recently told Australian website TheMusic.com.au that we wanted things solely on our own timetable and that we claimed he needed rehab.
"The band had to reschedule rehearsals all the time because of him. Even then, he did not show up. He told the band, friends, and family that he needed to go to rehab again. He had got help from a clinic before. We offered to wait for him to recover this time also. Sadly he changed his decision.
"Instead of trying to solve his problems, he went behind our back and secretly applied for a trademark ownership of the bands logo and name. It was hard to believe that his problems had led him to such a point. More...
Mark Zonder Joins Dragonsclaw On "Moving Target"
Recorded over a 2 year period, Australian traditional metal band Dragonsclaw are nearing completion of the third full length release entitled "Moving Target." Joining the band on drums this time around on drums is Mark Zonder (Graham Bonnet Band/ex-Fates Warning/Warlord). The date for "Moving Target" has not yet been set, but its expected in 2016.
Mark comments : "Having worked with Giles in Warlord, when he played me the new Dragonsclaw songs I heard a great development in their sound, and it was great to get involved on this record. These are strong powerful metal songs!"
Vocalist Giles Lavery added: "This record finds us moving quite far away from the power metal sound of the first two releases , we wanted to make a record that was a 'traditional heavy metal' record in the style of mid 80's Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, with the raw production of something like early Twisted Sister... a focus on big memorable songs was the main priority ... it has taken a long time to get this record to exactly where we want it, releasing 'just another metal record,' or something that sounded like the first two Dragonsclaw records would be kinda pointless, this had to be something that took it to the next level in performance, songwriting and more ... having Mark on drums was part of that plan."
The band issued the album's first music video "The Road Beneath Your Wheels" yesterday, which you can check out at this location.
The track listing for "Moving Target" is:
1. Road Beneath Your Wheels
2. Survival
3. Cry Wolf
