King Dead Posts New Song Online

Pennsylvania's mostly-instrumentalists from King Dead recently undraped a brand new three-track album. After the spacious post-metal textures of the band's first demo last year, the scope of latest release, "Woe & Judgement," has expanded considerably.

With three tracks constructed to fit on two sides, King Dead pushes its way into an encompassing rumble that still seems to hold onto a human core even as it lumbers between airy doom and rawer, thoroughly-reverbed noise. Check out opening psalm "The Firmament Of Heaven Opened, And The Flood Waters Were Upon Them" below.

"We've been opening our set with this lately," said drummer Steve Truglio of the track, "and it's funny that people seem to think it's our soundcheck for the first couple minutes. Yeah, shit's gettin' pretty weird."

1. The Firmament Of Heaven Opened, And The Flood Waters Were Upon Them
2. A Monument To Decline
3. The Coward, The Thieving Liar More...

Graf Orlock Streaming New Single

Graf Orlock today premieres new single "Difficult Decisions in the Yutani Mess Hall," a track off the upcoming "Crime Traveler" full-length due out February 5th on the band's own Vitriol Records. Listen in below, courtesy of MetalSucks.net.

Graf Orlock has spent more than a decade honing its Black Flag-meets-Slayer blast punk approach and the sound is represented perfectly on this newest track. Also in full effect here are the movie samples for which Graf Orlock is famous – the band is notorious for taking all its samples, lyrics, titles, and imagery directly from Hollywood blockbusters like RoboCop and Alien.

But there is a twist here: all the samples on "Crime Traveler" come from an as-yet-unreleased film the Graf Orlock members wrote, directed, and starred in themselves. More...

Inquisition Recording New Album

Black metal powerhouse Inquisition has begun recording a new album to be released in 2016 that follows 2013's "Obscure Verses for the Multiverse." The band is recording at the London Bridge Studios in Seattle with long time engineer Arthur Rizk. Regarding the session, Inquisition guitarist/vocalist Dagon comments:

"We are currently in London Bridge Studios here in Seattle recording our upcoming full length. We chose this studio for its rare, vintage console and the world renowned drum room they have. When talking about the console, we are talking about the rare opportunity to track on the infamous Neve 8048. This Neve in particular was made in 1972, and is a vintage board with pre-amps that translate sound into something unmatched; you can use all the plugins you want and still never fully replicate it through emulation. Maybe emulation these days comes close, but can't match a real class vintage board like this. There will be an enormous difference the listeners will be able to appreciate after the album has settled.

"Inquisition took advantage of this opportunity and is applying it so our fans and supporters can hear the experience of something truly organic by some of the highest standards when it comes to natural environments. Inquisition is a live band, we are remembered for our live sound and we want an album that brings that essence and those dynamics into the album; from the songs to the production in every aspect. Also, we never forget we are a black metal band, to us this means keeping things realistic and this means to never over produce and artificially over polish anything. This is where 'vintage' keeps those things in check." More...

Vesania Posts "Notion" Video

Poland's Vesania has launched a new video for "Notion," directed by Aleksander Ikaniewicz and taken from the 2014 album "Deus Ex Machina." Check it out below.

Vesania's Orion (guitars and vocals) comments: "This video we made for 'Notion' is not a typical music video clip. It's more of a motion picture, and it's over 6 minutes long, so get ready for lots of details. It's a cinematic variation based on the idea behind the song.

"It tells a story of a follower, a story of being fascinated and making things you dream of, real for yourself. Becoming what you once called an idol for yourself. And then, the perspective changes once you reach this new different point of view. You realize you have more power than you can handle and at the same time, the art you create is just a way of fighting things you're too weak to fight anywhere else. There's a deceit in being the audience and the actor at once."

Recorded at Sound Division Studio, "Deus Ex Machina" is the fourth full-length from the Polish juggernaut Vesania. You can hear another track from the album, titled "Dismay," over here. More...

Borknagar Selling... Beard Oil?

It seems like an April Fool's gag but apparently isn't - Borknagar is selling beard oil. Some metal bands do wine, some do pasta, some do beer, but Borknagar knows what's really important: your beard!

You can order your very own Borknagar beard oil through Raedical.com, while guitarist Jens F. Ryland has this to say on the matter:

"There is quite a bit of activity in the Borknagar camp these days! We are closing in on the release date for 'Winter Thrice,' we have concerts both announced and under planning for the next year and we are really excited about the video release featuring Kris Rygg. In this wave of positivity we have been approached by Rædical about the idea to make a beard-oil and I have to admit they didn’t need much time to persuade us!

"We are proud to introduce the Borknagar branded Rædical beard oil today. It’s an organic oil presented in a vial with the band logo placed in a hollow wooden cube with our signature serpent logo. All approved and co-designed by us!"

Raedical added: "While under the hood the oil is 'Riff' (one of the oils already on the market) the design and packaging is tweaked specially for Borknagar. The oil is a blend of 100% natural and highest quality jojoba, sweet almond, hazelnut, castor and hemp seed oils to protect your beard and keep it all soft and shiny while also regenerating your skin for the next morning. Every bottle comes in a beautiful, handmade walnut wooden case which will without a doubt become a collectors item within the metal and Borknagar community." More...

Northern Oak Disbanding

U.K. folk metal band Northern Oak just issued the following statement online about deciding to call it day:

"Northern Oak has been an incredible experience, having toured across the UK and created music that has gone beyond borders, delighting ears as far as Australia and Japan. None of this could have happened without your help, for which we are eternally grateful.

"2016 will mark the 10 year anniversary of the band, but it is the last 5 years with the current members which have been the defining line up for the band, and we feel that the different musical backgrounds of the current members has been one of our key strengths. Sadly it has come to a stage where not all members are able to continue, and so we have taken the decision to disband in 2016.

"We will be performing a farewell tour across February and March to celebrate what has been a glorious journey and we hope to see friends, old and new, there one last time. Thank you once again for all your support and we hope you enjoy listening to our music for a long time to come."

Friday 26th February - Old Angel, Nottingham W/ Old Corpse Road + Red Rum + Raptorgeist
Saturday 27th February - Black Heart, London W/ Old Corpse Road + Eibon La Furies

"Wall Of Silence" - the band's fourth studio release - picks up where "Sacrifice" left off, with a more straightforward, heavy approach, but the signature Section A sound is very much intact.
