Paragon Reveals New Album Details

Following a recent signing to Remedy Records and announcement about new album "Hell Beyond Hell," Paragon is now ready to reveal full details on the release. The band comments:

"Sören's drums for the new album 'Hell Beyond Hell' were recorded by Schrödey at his Absurd Studio and most other stuff was recorded and of course also mixed by Piet Sielck at his Powerhouse in Hamburg. We tried to keep everything very direct, fresh and open and we are very satisfied with the result. On the limited edition there will be nine songs and an edit of one song.

"Unfortunately our long time cover artist and friend - Dirk Illing - passed away last year way to early, so we wondered who could be the one to take over our cover art. When Martin and Jan (Bünning) went to the last Judas Priest show in Hamburg in the middle of 2015 they met Lars Paukstadt, the guy who created the classic Paragon shield and logo about 25 years ago! He still is an artist and doing a lot of none-Metal-stuff, but has also done artwork for bands like Iced Earth & Legion Of The Damned. After some phone calls and sketches form Lars, we knew he is the right one! The cover artwork is still in progress, but we hope to have it in our hands soon."

01. Rising Forces
02. Hypnotized
03. Hell Beyond Hell
04. Heart Of The Black
05. Stand Your Ground
06. Meat Train
07. Buried In Blood
08. Devil´s Waitingroom
09. Thunder In The Dark (Bonus Song)
10. Heart Of The Black (Edit - Bonus Song)

Scientist Streaming "Physician Heal Thyself"

With the release of the confounding "10100II00101" inching ever closer to its final descent, today Chicago-based architectural metal exhibitionists Scientist unveil "Physician Heal Thyself," featuring guest vocals by The Atlas Moth's Stavros Giannopoulos.

"Stavros recorded his vocals at home and turned them in on the deadline date," recalls Scientist's founding guitarist/vocalist Eric Plonka (ex Yakuza). "True to form, we didn't hear his parts until the CD was finished! It's one of our more cryptic undertakings with fuzz jutted guitars, crunchy bass and interestingly strange drum patterns. It's built around the concept of this: before attempting to correct others, make sure that you aren't guilty of the same faults."

You can also hear previously released album track "The Lighthouse," which is still playing at this location. More...

Sunday Old School: Stone Temple Pilots

This week, it was sadly confirmed that Scott Weiland, the former vocalist of Stone Temple Pilots and supergroup Velvet Revolver, had passed away at the age of 48. Perhaps the most tragic part of this news was that not too many people were surprised, given his long history of drug abuse. In spite of this, he was always respected for his outstanding vocal talents and unique stage presence that inspired dancing even during the heaviest songs he performed. This is the story of how he, the DeLeo brothers and drummer Eric Kretz made their name as one of the most popular bands in rock music, Stone Temple Pilots.

The story of how the group started is one that’s been debated. Most accounts claim that Scott Weiland met bassist Robert DeLeo at a Black Flag show, where they discussed their girlfriends and realised that they were dating the same girl, though in his autobiography, Weiland claims that he and his two friends, guitarist Corey Hicock and drummer David Allin had been chasing up DeLeo after seeing him perform with a band named Soi Disant. After convincing him to join them, the wrote for a few years before Allin left and was replaced by Eric Kretz, who the group had seen perform in Long Beach and not long after, Hicock also quit, with his place eventually being taken by Robert’s brother, Dean. The guitarist insisted that if he joined, the band would have to lose their name, Swing and so they settled on Mighty Joe Young, taken from the 1949 movie of the same name. More...
