December Embark on Canadian Invasion
December have embarked on a North American tour with Kreator, Destruction, and Cephalic Carnage. The tour kicks off with thirteen Canadian dates - by far the most Canadian dates any Earache band has played in recent history. December guitarist Julian Peach had this to say about the Canadian invasion, on the first night of the tour, "We just arrived in Toronto today from Reno. [December drummer] Jason Thomas drove 24 hours straight [freak!] so we made damn good time. The first show is tonight and we are beyond psyched. This tour hits just about every town in North America so we'll see all of you real soon!" The tour wraps up on November 1st at The Shack in Anaheim, CA.
Destruction Slam Chiaromonte Organizers
German thrashers Destruction have slammed the organizers of The Chiaromonte Festival in south Italy, where the group recently appeared, as completely unprofessional, and have described the circumstances under which they had to perform at the event as "total chaos". According to an official statement, "the band almost cancelled the show because of the terrible organization and the bad circumstances! After traveling 24 hours to south Italy, the local promoter didn't care about his contract and Destruction never had such an insulting treatment in their whole career! They finally played the show, 'cause the faithful Italian fans traveled from all over the country to see the band! So cheers to the fans and a big FUCK YOU to the festival oranization! Is this what you call the famous Italian hospitality — BULLSHIT!!! Vicous Rumours did play on the same 'event' and did get only half of their fee...unbelievable...bella Italia!"

To/Die/For Getting Heavier
Finland's To/Die/For — who were recently rejoined by guitarist J.P. Sutela — will enter Astia Studios in Lappeenranta, Finland on October 5th to begin recording their new album, entitled Jaded, for a tentative early 2003 release through Spinefarm Records. A single release will precede album before the end of the year.
Lead guitarist Joonas "Jope" Koto recently stated the following about the album's musical direction: "The new songs are much heavier and faster than before. Yes there are lots of programmings and stuff on the new songs but they are still very heavy. There's much more guitars on the new stuff than on Epilogue and the closest comparison could be Pain, but we're not imitating anyone. All you true goths are going to be very disappointed because there will NOT be anything on the album that categorizes us in the gothic genre. We have already demoed three of the new songs and right now three more are under construction so for the very first time we're on schedule."

Dan Quayle Comments on Ozzy
The following item appeared in today's edition of the New York Post:
Dan Quayle, who was ridiculed when he criticized Murphy Brown for glorifying single motherhood, is a huge fan of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne. "Here you have two adults who are madly in love with each other, dedicated to each other," Quayle tells T&L Golf. "The language is an issue but they do have certain restrictions . . . And Ozzy is always saying no to drugs, no to drinking . . . If you look at Ozzy, can there be a better walking billboard for why not to do drugs?"
Lullacry going "heavy as hell"
Lullacry drummer Jukka Outinen has posted the following update on the songwriting sessions for the band's forthcoming third full-length CD:
"I'm more than happy to say that we're done with all the songs for our next gigantic masterpiece of heavy and metal!
"In three demo sessions we have recorded 12 songs in total. They will now face even more tuning and tweaking before they are set in their final forms. Soon we're gonna decide how many songs (and which of them) are going to end up our third album.
"It's now only three more weeks before we're starting the real action at Finnvox Studios, Helsinki. We begin with the drums and then move on to a cottage on the coast of Baltic Sea where all the other instruments and vocal parts are going to be done. Our recording engineer is taking all his mobile Wonder-Gizmo-Systems with him so as long as there is electricity in the coastal box I'm sure everything's ending up just fine. Right now it's time for us to focus on being heavy as hell!" More...

Drowning Pool Frontman Found Dead
Drowning Pool singer Dave Williams was found dead on the band's tour bus Wednesday afternoon. The quartet from Dallas, Texas has been performing as one of the main stage attractions on Ozzfest. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
This is really a shame. I heard about it at Ozzfest today (Thursday) in Bristow, VA all day. It was really a downer on the show. Not only was one of the most energetic headlining bands not playing, but everyone who was playing had it on their minds. R.I.P. Dave Williams!
