Norma Jean Works Through
There has been much speculation regarding the future of Norma Jean following the amicable departure of their vocalist and bassist this past weekend. However, the band will not be breaking up and still plans on hitting the road with Eighteen Visions and Every Time I Die this week. They will tour with replacement members, including possible help from labelmates Beloved. Following the tour, and the release of their new album next week, the band will take some time off to re-group and find permanent replacements.

Candlemass Apologize About Wacken "Chaos"
Candlemass mainman Leif Edling has posted a message via the group's official web site regarding the changes in the groups' scheduled showtimes at this past weekend's Wacken Open Air festival which caused many of the Swedish doom quintet's fans to miss the band's performance at the event.
"Due to fuck-ups from the Wacken HQ, a lot of you — our loyal fans — missed Candlemass' show last weekend," Edling wrote. "We are so sorry for this and can only blame a sloppy organization. Showtimes for bands do change, and it's up to the promoter to inform everybody about the changes in both the German and in the English language. This was not done properly, according to several fans we spoke to. Not even our colleagues in other bands knew about the time change. We can only hope the band will continue, and that there will be a time in the near future, perhaps next summer, when we can meet again. The gig was great, it's just sad all of you couldn't participate." More...
Shiva Signs with Century Media
Century Media Records has signed Orange County, California-based Shiva. Formed out of the ashes of cult atmospheric metalists Mindrot, Shiva are said to be making "unconventional music for a conventional world, writing heavy, pulsating, ethereal songs that are unique to the current heavy music scene," according to an official press release. "This diversity has landed the quintet gigs with an eclectic array of artists including Cave In, High on FIre, Moonspell, and Lacuna Coil."
Shiva are currently writing material for their Century Media debut, due in spring 2003. In the meantime, Shiva have posted downloadable MP3s for the songs "Hopeless", "Shelter", "Breathe" (edit), "Empty" and "Disintegrate" via their official web site at this location.
The Haunted Delay Studio Time
Swedish high-energy thrashers The Haunted have reportedly pushed back the projected release date of their highly-anticipated third full-length album to early next year.
Initially scheduled to be recorded in late August/September for a November release through Earache Records, the follow-up to The Haunted Made Me Do It is said to have been postponed as a result of The Haunted frontman Marco Aro and his partner expecting their second child at the beginning of September. As spokesman for the band said: "It was felt by all that it wasn't fair for Marco to be away in the studio at this time."

Kreator: Hell Comes to Your Town
Celebrating 17 years of performing potent yet influential heavy metal music, Germany's Kreator is geared to devastate North American venues to support its most recent endeavor Violent Revolution, released through SPV Music.
Although the band has not touched American soil since 1996, band mastermind (vocalist/guitarist) Mille Petrozza feels the time is right to re-ignite the continent, supporting Kreator's most free-spirited & uncompromising release to date, Violent Revolution. Mille is visibly excited to return to the States: "It's going to be killer! The last tour was way back in '96 and so we're really happy to be coming back. We've been playing all over the world on the new album (Korea, Japan, and Europe) so it'll be great to get back to one of our favorite places to play. It took a while for us to get the pieces to fall into place for the US tour, but performing all over has gotten us really warmed up for these dates. I think that fans will see us at our best. We've been away for too long."

Aborted Counter Break Up Claims
Belgian death metallers Aborted have countered the claim that the band is not breaking up, and, in fact, are working on a new album for label Listenable Records, despite losing two members.
"First off, a word to clarify the rumous that are going around about Aborted. The band is not breaking up, there have been some personal problems and internal conflicts which have been solved this past week," stated the group's official website. "First of all we want to apologise to the promotors, bands and people who we had to disappoint by cancelling two gigs the past week, this is a thing we hate doing, but had to do, as the future of the band depended on what we had to make clear to each other." Morgion and Relapse Part Ways
Doom metal stalwarts Morgion have officially announced they've amicably parted ways with longtime label Relapse Records after two acclaimed records.
"It was a good run, but it has come apparent to both label and the band that things simply weren’t working out on either end; Morgion’s line-up changes in the last couple years were not good for Relapse, and on the other hand, the lack of support for the new lineup and new album did not help the band," stated Morgion in an email to DigitalMetal. “At first we thought Relapse would be great because we would be so diverse compared to the rest of the roster, but that faded quickly. We realized we should be with a label that has a working knowledge of the doom scene and support other bands of the same genre. I give them lots of credit for wanting to spread their horizons a bit; but since most of their dabblings into the doom arena fell short for them financially, they stopped branching out and stuck to what they’re known for."
