Alienator Streaming New Album
Alienatör is a sludge metal band from Thunder Bay, Canada that combine punk, hardcore, and noise rock elements into a stripped-down package, full of razor-sharp riffs and memorable hooks. They are now streaming their second album “Regrets”, which promises to be darker, more focused, and more intense than their first.
Composed during the claustrophobia of the 2020 election and the global pandemic, "Regrets" channels rage while the lyrics express alienation, grief, pain, and disgust at the state of the modern world. The band comments on the album:
"'Regrets' is a grim postcard from the depths of the human psyche. Our darkest release yet, it is a reaction to years of deep political turmoil, the erosion of truth, as well as personal politics of grief, loss, and struggle. It’s an album that touches on personal and social themes. Flourishes of melody drenched in a caustic sludge, painted in shades of black. We still have some blistering fast punk-influenced tunes but we’re branching out and showing our songwriting depth."
Within "Regrets" are eleven heavy-hitting songs with enough variety to keep even the most discerning metalheads interested. From the odd time signatures in the off-kilter “Revisionist History” that speaks of the erosion of truth in our public discourse and the dangerous narcissists who create their own reality to the bleak history being told in “Irreconcilable” that is equal in both horrific subject matter and dynamic riffs, there is something for everyone on this record.
The record was produced and mixed by bassist/vocalist Sean Skillen, mastered by Brad Boatright and the album artwork was done by Peter David Wragg. Aggressive and emotional, it is recommended for fans of Neurosis, Botch, and Jesus Lizard.
"Regrets" drops officially on Friday, November 25th, and can be heard in full via its album stream premiere on Doomed & Stoned here.

Blame Kandinsky Releases New Single
The Greek lovechild of Botch and The Dillinger Escape Plan, the raucously brilliant Blame Kandinsky, has streamed their excellent new single "Vague." You can check it out below.
Guitarist Marios Samaris comments: "'Vague' refers vaguely to our existence. We've been thinking about how elusive is, in fact, to be alive; trying to find that piece that the world is seeking. People constantly studying the past and the future, making recipes which theoretically will help them to achieve happiness while everything is transitory. Do we feel alive? What's the cost of one's dream? Would any of it make sense if there was no end? It seems like there are no successes, no failures, no patterns, no universal truth. There is just the urge to escape any routine. As surprises and the aftermaths grind on, all is vague." More...

Acres Reveals New Album Details
South coast four-piece Acres have dropped a new song and revealed details of their sophomore studio album. "Into Flames" is the third song to be released from the forthcoming full length, Burning Throne, and is accompanied by a video directed by Lewis Cater (All Time Low, Hot Milk, Sum 41).
"'Into Flames' is about having everything you love getting taken away from you," explains frontman Ben Lumber. "During the pandemic everyone's life was turned upside down and this song is about the fear of the unknown, wondering if things will ever be as they were."
The follow up to 2019’s "Lonely World," new album "Burning Throne" is set for release on 3rd March 2023 via A Wolf At Your Door Records.
On the new record, guitarist Alex Freeman states:
"I am extremely proud of this record but making it wasn’t easy. I had to teach myself how to write on my own again, and knowing that it was all on me was pretty unnerving. But I feel like the pressure of the record and the frustration of being secluded due to the pandemic allowed me to create a vibe that I’ve wanted Acres to explore for a long time, and I’m really stoked with the outcome." Memoriam To Release New Album In February
Memoriam need no introduction - they are living legends of Old School Death Metal and arguably the fastest and most creative band in the genre right now. Memoriam has built up their own loyal fan base over the past seven years and developed its own musical identity.
Today the band finally announces the release of their new studio album "Rise To Power" which will be released on February 3rd, 2023 via Reaper Entertainment.
"Rise To Power" will charge an open door, because in addition to the essential Death Metal groove, Memoriam becomes more variable with each additional song and keeps adding new dynamics to their sound - from brutal grooves to doomy-melodic parts up to aggressive Nordic riffing - "Rise To Power" is an extremely varied album.
Once more the production by Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, At The Gates, Amorphis, etc.) at Parlour Studios is rounding out the terrific songwriting and top-notch recording which comes across as charmingly "down to earth" but wonderfully differentiated to give every detail on "Rise To Power" its deserved space.
From the earliest days of the band, Dan Seagrave (Benediction, Dismember, Hypocrisy, Suffocation etc) is a steady accompaniment delivering the visuals to their music. Having created the artwork for the first four Memoriam albums, he has also created the cover for "Rise To Power."
The band states:
"Introducing album number 5, 'Rise To Power,' the second album of the second trilogy.
For this album we again work with the creative genius that is Mr Dan Seagrave. Dan has created the previous 4 album covers for us, so to keep the theme and continuity there would be no other choice. We love the work he creates and to be part of the creative process whilst the artwork is developing is a great experience. To see our basic ideas come to life through his mind and hands is amazing and he always delivers. This time around the cover has a majestic purple colour theme and features the "King" (the central character throughout all of the artwork that Dan has created for us) at his crowning ceremony where he 'rises to power.'
"The lyrical content of the new album carries on from those that precede it, maintaining the theme of grief, loss and despair along with social commentary on recent events such as the war in Ukraine and past events such as the holocaust.
"The ever present subject of war is prevalent throughout the album as it is on all of the others.
We consider "Rise To Power" our strongest album to date, as it includes a diverse range of songs building on what we have achieved with Memoriam over the past 7 years. Rise To Power is a true celebration of life through death metal."
Dan Seargrave adds:
"In this cover, as with the previous albums we are working backwards from the war.
The premise finds the main leaders coronation as supreme ruler. His followers always a semi faceless army. As is the leader themself. Preferring to keep their face a figment of the viewer imagination, emotionless behind a façade.
"The architectural environment I put together is based on memories of visiting the ruins of Roman Emperor Hadrian’s Villa in 2017. A location often drawn by the Italian artist Piranesi. And it’s also his rendering of the Appian Way that I was thinking about for this. Giving the art a hemmed in archaic and historically overbuilt quality.
"Similarly, another point of reference was the Hall of plaster casts in the Victoria and Albert museum. This in particular has an imposing feeling when you stand amongst the variety of historical casts and their disproportionate scales. Items like the full scale casting of Rome’s Trajan’s column, and a statue of David juxtaposed in one place create a disjointed feeling amongst the smaller works. I wanted this cover to have a similar feel to that, like things are appropriated from somewhere else. Repurposed by the reigning mob as a backdrop for their own glory.
"Combining that and an imagined early 20th century retro modernity feel, with the addition of electrical grid like elements and war machines / tanks that feature semi elaborate sculpture reliefs, alluding to an impracticality. Image over function." More...

Left Hand Solution Shares New Music Video
Today, Left Hand Solution share a doomy, dark, and nostalgic video moment with their new video for the song "Worn Away," which is released today for the first time digitally! "Worn Away" was recorded and produced by Thomas Hedqvist at Kitchen Studio in Grönborg, Sundsvall, in June 1996, but has never been released digitally before. To celebrate the release of the 25-year edition of the album "Fevered" - including this track, Joakim Mårdstam compiled this deeply nostalgic video from old VHS tapes filmed during the original recordings album "Fevered."
25 years ago, Left Hand Solution's second album, "Fevered," got an international release through Nuclear Blast. Despite Doom metal, was not at its peak and female-fronted Metal still being seen as a curiosity, it sold an impressive 10000 copies and lifted the band from the tape trading scene to the larger stages. To celebrate this groundbreaking release, the original tapes were remastered and compiled on a double LP, including one bonus track recorded for the album but only available on a long-ago sold-out compilation and three demo versions of album tracks from the cassette The Wounds of Bitterness. In total, one hour and 10 minutes of brilliant doom metal. "Fevered 25 Anniversary Edition" will release worldwide on November 25th on a limited transparent orange 2LP Vinyl. More...
