Trivium Unveils "The Shadow Of The Abattoir" Video
Orlando, Florida metal mainstays Trivium has posted a new music video online for the song, "The Shadow Of The Abattoir." You can check it out below. The track comes from the band's latest album, "In The Court Of The Dragon," which was released in October 2021. A statement from video director Pavel Trebukhin reads as follows:
"Making a video for a band you grew up listening to is a dream come true. 'Don't go searching for the battle, you won't find any beasts to slay' - I think this line is what stood out the most to me. I knew I had to somehow visualise this message.
"Being a fan of dark science fiction, fantasy, and heavily inspired by 80s world of Stranger Things, I came up with this idea of a haunted book that holds a secret nobody should know. But because of our human nature, we never know when to stop, so the book keeps feeding off our curious souls, taking one victim after another.
"One of the main challenges we've faced was how do we make copyright-free book illustrations? It would cost tons of money and time to draw all of them from scratch, so the technology came to help. All of the illustrations you see in the book were 100% AI generated with the help of Midjourney Bot. Then, the whole book was custom made and was actually finished just one hour before the shoot.
"Overall, we had lots of fun making it. Wouldn't be possible without the amazing team that has worked tirelessly for 3 days shooting it. And pay attention to detail, you might find a couple easter eggs hidden throughout the video." More...

Singer, Zora Cock comments on the signing:
"Dear fans, we're so excited to have partnered up with Nuclear Blast Records! Having been an independent band for many years, we’ve finally found the perfect fit that makes our dreams come to life! Joining forces with this incredible label is a huge step for Blackbriar! We promise you that there are a lot of exciting things coming, starting with a brand-new single that's OUT NOW! Listen to 'Crimson Faces' on all music platforms, and let us know what you think! Love, Blackbriar."
Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R Nuclear Blast Europe:
“Please warmly welcome Blackbriar to the Nuclear Blast family! It has been a pleasure to meet them at Joost van den Broek’s studio and to get a sneak preview on the exciting things to come. We’re thrilled to work with such a creative team. It’s amazing what the band have already achieved completely DIY, creating a unique world of their own. Expect to be enchanted – this is probably the biggest gift that artists can give us.”
Zora Cock commented on the single:
"'Crimson Faces' tells a story of being haunted by ghosts, jealousy, and insecurities, based on the old classic Gothic novel 'Rebecca'. You asked us to make a different kind of music video, one of us performing instead of portraying a story, and we thought Crimson Faces was the perfect song to do this with. We hope we’ve fulfilled your wishes!" More...
Tryglav To Release Sophomore Album In February
Extreme Metal Music has announced the release of the one-man black metal band, Croatia's Tryglav's second album "The Ritual" this coming February 2023 to follow the 2019 debut "Night Of Whispering Souls" also released on the label.
All the music on "The Ritual" was written by founder Boris Behara with vocals entrusted to vocalist Callum Wright along with mixing and mastering by producer Rocco Pezzin. The songs on the sophomore record began their journey in 2018 as part of Behara's love for black metal and horror imagery. After many re-compositions and re-arrangements along with interruptions from the world pandemic and his personal health with two open heart surgeries. The Ritual will now see the light once again via Extreme Metal Music, a subsidiary of Italian label Rockshots Records.
"After three years, a world pandemic, and two open heart surgeries, I'm proud that the album I worked hard on is finally seeing the light! This time I wanted something more than just individual horror stories, that's why I worked so hard to put out an original concept story based on Plague Doctors, which are the trademark of this band since the beginning. This album has seen so many difficulties, but finally, after three long years, it's here! I hope fans will enjoy it as much I did create it!"
Tryglav's sound is aggressive, melodic, modern, and emotionally epic black metal, and fans of its predecessor will notice a maturity in sound and lyrics. The story behind the album is set in the 17th century as Tryglav explains further:
"On a dark stormy night, a dying man sighed his last breath. Nothing his parents could do to save his life. A Plague Doctor was called. Four of them showed up, taking the dead body with them. The family knew that they would never see him again. What they didn't know was that he would come back, in an unimaginable way." More...

Heidevolk Reveals New Album Details
Five years since the release of their album, "Vuur Van Verzet," February 24 will see Dutch folk metal collective, Heidevolk, return with their seventh studio album on Napalm Records - continuing to keep the pagan flame burning.
Ever since their impressive 2005 debut, "De strijdlust is geboren," Heidevolk has taken the heavy music scene by storm, conquering stages throughout the world with their very own brand of folk metal. With dual clean vocals, irresistibly catchy songs, traditional instruments and fast metal riffing all fueled by their folkloric fire and pagan pride, Heidevolk delivers for an uncompromising sound and musical adventure. Their new masterpiece, "Wederkeer," makes no exception, and proves why the Arnhem-based six-piece is one of the best, unrivaled and most exciting bands of their genre and beyond.
Today, the band has shared a music video for their first album single, "Klauwen Vooruit," that immediately kicks off with the raw pagan metal power Heidevolk are loved for, merging folkloric soundscapes, fast-paced riffs and ultra large choirs.
Says the band: "We’re incredibly excited to present you the first song and music video of our new album. 'Klauwen Vooruit' (The Hunter’s Claw) brings you the story about the extraordinary pact between Wolf and Raven. A bond between predator and scavenger where ravens alert wolves to nearby prey. The wolves respond to the raven’s call, kill the prey, eat their share and leave the carcass for the ravens to feast on. And there is more coming up, a lot more."
